The location is amazing. The beach is private and beautiful. Breakfast is great. Family room is very spacious and comfortable. I also suggest to take a trip to Coral Island, which is organized by the hotel and leaves from the hotel jetty. It's amazing.

You have to book for dinner, so we always ate outside. It is not a big problem, but if you want to eat at the hotel you must book well in advance. Unless you're flexible and don't mind eating at 9. Also, I would say the staff at the reception and bar at the beach were great. But the staff at the main restaurants sometimes seemed a bit not bothered.

Location, room, and beach.

Reception staff were very good, friendly and efficient. But a lot of the staff were badly trained and badly organised. Maybe the hotel is going through a transition. The place looks a bit tired.

We had a wonderful short stay at Cape Panwa Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful with a private beach, gorgeous swimming pool and an on-site spa, but the best thing about the place, is the team of staff working there. They really went over and above to make our stay special. It was my birthday on our second night and they arranged for little treats here, there and everywhere to celebrate it. I was so grateful. The breakfast was delicious and there are a good selection of restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner. We would have preferred it if the beach bar had stayed open later (closes at 8.30pm) so there was a bit more variety to the nightlife options, but there is the Lighthouse Bar which stays open till around midnight. Our room was very comfortable and we were offered an upgrade on arrival that was very good value. It’s very quiet at night so we weren’t disturbed at all and enjoyed a great night’s sleep each night. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be delighted to stay again.

Beautiful colonial building, fabulous staff, comfortable stay

Children overtook the pools with no parents objecting to their behaviour

Comfortable, large rooms, nicely furnished. Large beachfront and plenty of sun beds. Nice choice of restaurants (when available!). The hotel caters for numerous large weddings who take over restaurants and bars at short notice. I appreciate this is lucrative business for the hotel but a bit trying for other guests . The property is on top of a very steep hill, the shuttle service is excellent and very much needed!!

The general and public areas are very clean, the cleanliness in the room is very superficial. We stated for two weeks a d had to ask to get our bed linen changed after the first week. Certain items were just left on the floor (swept under the bed) for several days. However the actual staff are lovely, helpful and very kind. Aqua Aerobic teachers were great fun and a sure fix on the plan.

August 2024

We came to Thailand for two weeks in July, as a family which included our 4yr old daughter and her grandparents. We decided to split our time between two destinations. The second week at Thavorn Palm Resort (which I booked under the premise it looked a bit more family friendly in terms of facilities and in the thick of the beach community of Karon Beach), and our first week here at Cape Panwa Hotel, under the premise it looked secluded (therefore quiet) and super chilled which was what we'd want after all the travels and stress. And also slightly more grown up orientated/ than family friendly in terms of facilities. To start, the hotel is set beautifully on the hillside over looking the sea and beach. Lots of mature trees, felt quite wild but in a good way. The reception and restaurant area were lovely, and the staff working there (Dear & Jay) were absolutely fantastic. As it'd been ages since a proper holiday and having a small person to share the space with we shelled out for the 'Cape Suite with Sea View'. Between the general size of the room, facilities, and the views, it certainly now rates as the top room I've been lucky enough to stay in. The pool area was nice, not expansive compared to other hotels, but sufficiently nice. We spent half our time in the pool and the other half at the beach. I really loved the beach, and in July with a predominant westerly wind, it remains mainly calm and flat comparitively to being on the West Coast of Phuket. It's a lovely sandy beach, that runs out into coral & rock, so it's worth noting that at low tide, there isn't much water between you and the bottom; the bottom can be sharp. They kindly provide you a timetable in your room for the best time to swim on the beach. The beach was a 1-2 minute walk down the hill from our room. The bars/ restaurants were lovely, and the breakfasts were great.

Overall a bit dated, but an observation than something that negatively affected our stay. The pool area was again fine, more adult oriented than for kids (she still had heaps of fun mind).

The location

The shuttle bus should run more frequently and the egg station wasn’t up to the expected standard.

- great breakfast buffet (Thai and European dishes) - nice spa, on the pricier side but worth it - very friendly staff, especially the people who work in the bamboo bar are so welcoming and helpful (our grandma stepped on a sea urchin, the staff did everything to help her and after that they asked everyday how she felt :)) - beautiful sandy, private beach with palm trees, enough beach chairs for everyone and towels provided - information about the tides of the sea available in the rooms - tour and taxi services - lots of activities you can do, we especially loved wearing the traditional Thai costumes

You should definitely buy “anti sea urchin shoes” for swimming in the sea, because there are a lot of rocks and dead corals, and the occasional sea urchin.

Lovely resort. Yes, it’s tired and needs some renovation but it’s still comfortable and works. <5 min complementary Shuttle to the sister hotel. It’s a steep walk between the two. A few local restaurant options near the sister hotel and some a few stalls selling food and clothes in the evening. Massage places are outside the gates of cape panwa hotel and more options near the sister hotel. One of the massage places outside the hotel does laundry - 70 Bhatt per kg. The beach is stunning to look at but be careful of the rocks and worn down bits of coral. I think I have tough feet and only went in once. The smart people had reef shoes. The hotel has kayaks, not sure if there is a fee to use or not. If you make it out through the rocks there is a fun floating 2 Storey platform with swing, climbing rope net and I did see people jumping off it. We stayed 4 nights in a family garden view room F104 and F105: it is two connecting rooms one deluxe and one standard. The deluxe has lounge sitting area, lounge could easily sleep an extra person.

One negative is the distance from the airport. Google predicts an hour but took 1 hour 40 mins. We landed at 6pm and used the transfer company from booking.com. Breakfast finishes at 10.30am on the dot. Don’t go up at 10.35am.

The hotel is located in a beautiful cape, with stunning views. We loved our villa with its two rooms and private swimming pool. The white sandy beach with warm water was very nice, but you have to plan with the tides, as there is a big difference in levels. Don't forget your water shoes! The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, making you feel at home. Great value for money!

We went during a period when probably there wasn't enough kitchen staff, so the service was a bit slow. But otherwise food was very nice and it has a very good buffet breakfast.
