Location = perfect, breakfast = perfect, hotel = perfect, room = perfect, staff = perfect. This should be on the list of Best Small Boutique Hotels in the World. The Manager, Arda was fantastic - helped us with an awesome tour guide (Nizam), restaurant suggestions, sightseeing - everything he touched turned to gold for our stay in Selcuk. Walking distance to Temple of Artemis, Isa Bey Mosque, St John the Baptist Basilica, Ephesus Archaeological Museum and main restaurant area of Selcuk

Nothing at all

We liked everything about this hotel - it was probably the best hotel we stayed in during our trip. We stayed 3 nights in mid May 2023. + Location: 5 min walk to the main part of town. Close to the basilica and Artemis Temple. Quiet area in a small cobbled lane. Street parking available, but, no real lots. Just have to pull up as close as you can to the side. Low traffic area. + Room: Great layout, lots of natural light. Good soundproofing. Good size bathroom. Aircon worked well. + Shower: lots of hot water, good water pressure. Hand shower was mounted at a good height and could be angled easily (for when you don't want to get your hair wet using the rain shower) + Bed: large double which was 2 separate mattresses that didn't split in the middle. Quite comfortable, not too hard - ok for a side sleeper like me. Comfy pillows. + Staff: Adar and his colleagues were very hospitable. They made us feel at home. + Breakfast: Simple but good quality breakfast spread. Eggs made to order. There was always complimentary cake, tea and coffee during the day.

Can't think of anything we didn't like.

This hotel goes above and beyond the norm. The attention to detail is extraordinary - beautiful bedroom and bathroom - doors, windows, furnishings, everything is excellent, things open and close perfectly, the rooms smell amazing and the shower/ basin/ floor tiling and so on is expertly considered using local Selcuk mosaic and ceramic patterns. Brothers Muharrem and Murat are architect and engineer of the hotel, so it's furnished and thought through to the highest standards. They are also amazingly attentive to guests. It was a pleasure coming back to the room, the freshness of everything, the perfumed scent of herbs and flowers, a pool to cool down in after visiting Ephesus ruins on a hot, hot day. And breakfast was as good as it gets - from taste and variety to the quality of the presentation - thanks also to Aysha in the kitchen. This was more than home. It was like being spoiled for a few days. Additional point: Muharrem also organised the best guide to Ephesus - Nazim from Apasas Travel. Well worth the €50 for the trip. Can't recommend Akanthus highly enough. We made a decision to stay 3 nights - and quite honestly we could have stayed longer because there was enough to do in the area, and when we just wanted to relax, the hotel was perfect for that too, both in the courtyard by the pool or in our gorgeous room. We would go back. And we are also recommending our friends spend a few days there, if they go to Ephesus.

It could not have been better. Seriously.

We recently stayed at Akanthus Hotel Ephesus, and we must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The first thing we noticed was the impeccable cleanliness throughout the hotel. Every corner, from the courtyard and the lobby to the rooms, was spotless and well-maintained. The service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and eager to help with any request, making us feel truly welcome and valued as a guest. Their professionalism and warmth added a personal touch to our stay. The ambiance of the hotel was wonderfully cozy. The room was tastefully decorated, with comfortable furnishings that made it feel like a home away from home. The atmosphere was perfect for relaxation, enhanced by the soothing, relaxing music playing softly in the background. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast. It was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. Every item was freshly prepared and bursting with flavour, providing the perfect start to our day. Overall, Akanthus Hotel Ephesus offers a perfect blend of cleanliness, excellent service, coziness, and culinary delights. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

It was perfect.

In our two-week trip in Turkey, Akanthus was a shining light. At first, we had booked a cheaper place closer to the town center but then decided to take the plunge and pay the premium for Akanthus. We were nervous when we got into Ephesus as we didn't want to be disappointed (our expectations were high) and Akanthus was like a warm hug. We had spent four days in Istanbul walking 20k steps each day and we needed a place where we could stay in and be comfortable and relax like we do back home and Akanthus gave us just that. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the room was designed with a lot of care. From the beautiful fittings in the bathroom to carefully designed side-tables to the TV having an Amazon Stick with Netflix and Amazon Prime available for the guests, it was a delight. If you go outside the room and if you're living in the same building as where they serve breakfast, then you have 24/7 access to tea, coffee and a delicious moist tea cake. The breakfast spread was lovely. The assortment of breads and jams and fruits to a decent number of options what one would want their eggs to be. The pool was cold but clean and a little dip in that cool water was most refreshing. I am grateful to Akanthus and to its hospitable staff for a great stay.

I wish they ran a lunch and dinner service even if they had limited options. Ephesus isn't necessarily a food town, so I wouldn't mind the comfort of the hotel and I trust the competence of their staff to deliver something delicious and clean.

This is a beautiful and comfortable boutique hotel, owned and run by the nicest people. It is stylish without being overly precious. Look out for the beautiful textiles used in the decor, some from Muharrem’s parents’ collection. Our room was comfortably appointed, with good quality bed linen. Breakfast is a wonderful, typically Turkish spread with all manner of fruit, greens, cheeses, olives, breads and preserves. Tea and coffee are always available, as is fresh homemade cake. Soner and Muharrem gave us good tips on where to eat, and were just very welcoming and hospitable generally. Selçuk itself is a charming little place, good to explore on foot. So glad we stayed here, and not in resort-y Kusadasi, although we did go there for an excellent meal and beautiful sunset one evening.

We got off to a good start in this beautiful hotel when we got a free room upgrade! We had an amazing three nights in Selçuk in this cosy boutique hotel. The staff were helpful , knowledgeable and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant for evening meals but directed us to some excellent restaurants nearby. The beds were supremely comfortable and the room was airy and bright. Reception organised a wonderful tour for us to nearby Ephesus.

Nothing.

Everything was great. We stayed in 6 hotels during a 10-day trip in Turkey and Akanthus was definitely the best one. Stylish yet comfortable room, spacious and well-equipped with amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, and afternoon tea with cake is also available. There is a pool too but we didn't have time to try it. Parking is easy - by the street outside the property but we didn't experience issues. Location was also excellent - close to Efes by car, and walking distance to the city center / museum without the noise. Highly recommended!

This property was amazing. We wish we could have stayed longer. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the rooms and property are just beautiful. The night manager was kind enough to upgrade us for my birthday. Parking was super easy, breakfast was delicious, we didn’t want to leave in the morning to go to Ephesus and just sit by the relaxing pool, but even that and the museum were nearby and worth seeing.

nothing, it was perfect.

The property was beautiful and calm. Felt like we were in sanctuary with a pleasant courtyard with a swimming pool and a view overlooking the city. The city was not skyscrapers but red tiled roofs and palm trees. We opted to have breakfast included and it was a wonderful non American breakfast. There were egg choices, a variety of cheeses and yogurt and bread, as well as fruit. They offered American coffee as well as Turkish coffee and tea. They also kept cake on a cake platter so if you wanted a slice in the afternoon, you could easily get an afternoon snack. Also beverages were served in the courtyard by the pool, if you desired. Options included coffee, tea, wine and beer.

There was nothing that I didn’t like. I was traveling with family. They were in adjacent rooms and they were also very pleased.
