Location, location, location…This lovely little hotel is located just beneath the Church of St. John in the city’s ancient center. There are multiple places to eat & shop nearby. It is very clean, fairly new (I believe 6 or 7 years old) and the breakfast was just what we had been anticipating as lovers of Turkish cousine. Having lived in Turkey many years ago, we couldn’t decide whether to rent a car and guide ourselves or use public transportation. Bugra, the owner offered to provide airport and other transportation in his small touring van- which was quite comfortable. After taking us to Ephesus and Mary’s House the first day, we decided to hire him for the Seven Churches Tour. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Bugra is well respected, knows all the best local places to eat and shop as well as the history of the area. He’s a licensed professional and generous with his time. He has a lovely family and they make the place feel like home. His two well behaved children even came along with us one day. He is a problem solver and enjoys helping his customers with their specialty interests. We were more than satisfied with the price and service and feel that we got the most value out of our 5 night stay through his guidance and driving. We are looking forward to returning and following in the footsteps of Paul.

It was all good.

We had an incredible experience staying at Hotel Mary's House in Selcuk, Turkey. This family-owned hotel surpassed all our expectations in every aspect. Firstly, the breakfast served at the hotel was absolutely delicious. The wide variety of dishes, including local specialties, was a treat for the taste buds. The homemade touches and attention to detail made each morning a delightful culinary experience. The rooms at Hotel Mary's House were not only super clean but also had an authentic charm. The traditional decor and comfortable amenities created a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. One of the standout features of this hotel is the owner, Bugra. In addition to running the hotel, he also operates a professional tourist company that organizes tours all over Turkey. We were incredibly lucky to have Bugra as our guide during our visit to Ephesus and other nearby places. His amazing knowledge and passion for the history and culture of the region were truly impressive. Our entire family was captivated by the information he shared. Furthermore, I had the pleasure of spending an amazing evening with Bugra, having coffee and engaging in discussions about life and history. It was a truly memorable and enriching experience. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Mary's House in Selcuk, Turkey. The combination of delicious breakfast, pristine rooms, and Bugra's expertise as a tourist guide created an exceptional and unforgettable stay. It is a testament to the warm hospitality and dedication of this family-owned hotel.

Nothing.

We felt like home right from the moment we stepped in. We were greeted with a smile and hot Turkish tea. We got help with information about local attractions and best restaurants recommendations. Our hosts Bugra even made an effort to find us Polish speaking guide for our trip to Ephesus. Very rich Turkish breakfast served on a patio amongst colorful flowers. All staff was very friendly, always ready to assist us. The location of Mary’s House is very convenient , just steps away from St. John Basilic and Ayasuluk Citadel, walking distance to ruins of Temple of Artemis, and restaurants. Short driving distance to all other attractions. I highly recommend the place and would gladly go back.

Everything was excellent. Bugra went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and travel needs. My sister needed some medication and Bugra found a pharmacy that was open in the evening during a turkish sacrifice holiday weekend. He drove to the location. The hotel is nicely decorated and the hospitality was excellent. We were treated like family. My family and I will definitely stay here again and will also call them to set-up our travel itinerary.

The air conditioning worked to well. The room was nice and cold, but the bed blanket was not enough. We had to ask for another blanket. Other then that everything was great.

Beautifully maintained hotel and family owned and managed. This hotel is in a beautiful cobblestone are close to many great restaurants and a short walk to the main area of Selcuk. It is walking distance (a few blocks) to St John Basilica. Bugra is a fabulous tour guide and will ensure you see Ephesus and the House of Virgin Mary and any other sights even further away. He is knowledgeable and has excellent English. Rooms were spacious, clean, good AC. One of the best places to stay while seeing the surrounding sights!

Mary’s house is a beautiful small hotel with a lovely and serene courtyard. Our room was large and nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and the aircon was quite. What really made our stay amazing was our host, Bugra! He was incredibly relaxed and accommodating. we asked him if he would arrange a tour of Ephesus for us, and he took us personally ( Bugra also runs a tour company) His English is excellent, he encouraged us to ask any questions regarding history, religion, culture etc. Our day visiting Ephesus with him really enhanced and elevated our experience in Selcuk. Great stay, but even better host!

I have nothing to add, we enjoyed everything about our stay at Mary’s house.

The hotel is located in a very pleasant neighborhood in the center of Selcuk - Efes Museum and St.John Cathedral ruins / Castle are very close, the central Selcuk area with eateries and shops is in walkable distance. The hotel itself is a stylish building with nice common yard and breakfast hall. The parking is on-street, which was not a problem for us due to low season. The family room we had was not especially large, but nicely decorated. Some advice - Attractions - Efes ruins are the star attraction in Selcuk. St.John Cathedral ruins / Selcuk Castle are also good, Priene ruins (60km from Selcuk) are a great quiet place to visit if you have a car. Efes Museum (which is near the hotel) is great if not especially large. Avoid Virgin Mary House - it is a tourist trap - the authorities charged about 200TL for the car and 4 people; the area is not really picturesque and the sanctuary itself is basically a hut of 2 small rooms and a fountain. Food - Selcuk pidecisi is a very modest and cheap place, but the food is great; it is located very close to the hotel near the museum. Ejder is a very small family place in the central area (near the aqueducts), the food and hospitality is amazing.

The breakfast is good, but not superb (we had better in other places on the same trip).

The owner Buhru was so welcoming, served us tea when we arrived and gave us tips and recommendations on how to make the most of our one day stay in Selcuk. He is also a tour guide and shared a little history about the area, but didn’t overwhelm us. We were originally scheduled to stay in Izmir for 2 nights but so glad we decided to stay in Selcuk on the second night. Hotel St Mary’s highlighted the charm of Selcuk. I definitely recommend Selcuk over Izmir. The room was basic, very clean and exactly what we expected. The breakfast was amazing…so delicious…the best we had during our 10 days in Turkey. I wish we could have stayed longer. I will be back!

Nothing. We liked everything!

A very charming boutique hotel in Selçuk in a small portion of the town just below St John the Baptist church ruins (easy walking distance). It is an owner run and maintained hotel, named after the owner’s spouse. The care for the hotel shows in the pristine look of the rooms. There is a courtyard in the entryway and charming woodwork throughout the hotel. The staff were outstanding. The hotel is very close to Ephesus and and other sites such as the House of Virgin Mary.

There was not anything to dislike.

We couldn’t have asked for a better location and a more helpful staff. We came in without an itinerary and the staff (especially Bugra) were more than willing to help. They provided hotel transfer with less than a few hours notice, scheduled a private tour the next day of the top sites in Ephesus, and organized a day trip to Pamukkale. The venue is lovely, beds are comfortable, and the provided breakfast was incredible. Will definitely stay again next time we visit the area.
