We were celebrating my birthday by going away for the weekend. When the hotel team realised this, they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a Privilege room. They went further by leaving balloons, a birthday card in our room, and complimentary use of the in-room bar. The room was spacious and comfortable and had all the amenities I'd expect when staying at a quality hotel.  At night, it was fairly ease to get to sleep because the room was very dark once the lights were switched off, and also quiet with the windows open even though a dual carriage way is close by. Breakfast was self-serve, and we had a lot to choose from, full English breakfast, continental options, cereals, breads, and even gluten-free options. We booked a spa treatment each, which was discounted because we were hotel guests. The facilities and staff were very good, the night before I was able to change the time of the treatment without a charge. We did not use the swimming pool or other leisure facilities, but I could see they looked good. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Peak District and Sheffield; it worked very well for us.  All the staff at the hotel & restaurant were great, especially Adam at the main desk.

The bed made a lot of noise when turning in it or getting out of it. The afternoon tea could have been of better quality. For example, the salmon sandwich could have been made with better quality salmon.

Staff were lovely! Really made our anniversary feel special. The food in the restaurant was really good. I had a pizza and was very pleasantly surprised to see it was handmade! Room service available all night long, which was a great treat! The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was lovely and soft. Breakfast was great in the morning as well. Spa facilities were good, particularly the sauna.

Its not the hotels fault but I got an automated message almost daily about check in times and covid measures. It was the same message daily and meant I got a push notification from booking.com and an email so it was a lot of notifications for nothing and that was a bit annoying. The pillows were not very comfortable.

Really glad we upgraded the room which had air conditioning as the nights we stayed were really hot. Didn’t have the time to use the swimming pool but that would have been a positive for us.

Plenty of choices at breakfast but it is difficult with pre cooked food being kept hot. That said the staff were extremely obliging and supplied everything they were asked for. Amazing staff on what was a really busy weekend.

Lovely comfortable beds, great TV, the general look of the place, stone window sills, really lovely. Outside was lovely, the car parking was good and convenient. The Information about meals and signage was pretty good and the receptionist was very helpful. Breakfast was lovely

Bar understaffed in the evening, so there was a long wait for one drink while food was going cold on the table. Menus were sticky and dirty which was surprising considering the cost of the food and accommodation, and the great cleanliness of the room. Carpets in corridors dirty and tatty - big pieces of black sticky tape holding bits of carpet together right outside the bedroom door.

We really liked the property and the garden in front of the reception where we had drinks when we arrived. It had nice and cozy feeling to it. The blue room which you see on the pictures on website had nice renovated bathroom and we agreed the bed was very comfortable. Overall room was clean and spacious. We liked the breakfast set up, there was special table with gluten free food and drinks, provided enough food choices. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

in the first place we got room which is not shown on the pictures online, it was older looking room in the outside building, it had window facing the road, so it was quite loud, which we didnt like, as the rooms online look more modern and new. We immediately exchanged the room, staff was very helpful and offered us different room inside the main building, it was the room you see online with blue bathroom which is much nicer and view was to the garden. We had room 70, and only thing we didnt like is that it was lot of stairs and walking to get to the room from reception. We found spa to be bit small, the saunas and jacuzzi were also too small for the amount of people in the hotel. We would appreciate if there was more chairs and beds to relax, as there werent enough for everyone.

Good access from motorway. Nearer to Sheffield. There a few pubs nearby for dinner. Breakfast is good. Spa facilities are okay. Steam room was out of order for the days we stayed. Jacuzzi and pool are small. Gym is good though few facilities are not working. We had treatment but it was not good and waste of money. If you are travelling by electric car, they have only chargers suitable for Tesla. But, there are Instavolt chargers at a McDonalds nearby. Lots of beautiful walks nearby.

Treatments at Spa. Rooms are not soundproof and you can hear people talking in other rooms.

A beautiful character building, very spacious and comfortable. It has been totally refurbished, and has a welcoming atmosphere. Very attractive and original in its design. The spa is an added bonus. All of the staff were extremely friendly, and the service was good. The food was of good quality and well presented.

Nothing to dislike. Although because of the age of the original building, there are a lot of staircases and the main building does not have a lift. Which may limit access for those with mobility issues.

The room was very comfortable and clean. There was a good shower and plenty of towels. The staff were friendly. There is a big car park. There is also a swimming pool, which we didn't use, but it looked lovely, there is also a spa. The breakfast was plentiful, fresh & delicious. Thank you.

The weather. It threw it down! 😂. The complimentary tea/coffee tray could be slightly upgraded with a little more choice, quality and more coffee, but that is purely a suggestion, not a complaint. No complaints about the hotel. We were asked to pay on checking out, but had already paid cash when checking in. I think the girl who checked us in was training and somehow not updated cash payment on the system. It was soon resolved and wasn't a problem.

Cleanliness and comfort of room - except for low beams. Staff were exceptional. Every person we dealt with was welcoming and checking to make sure you have everything you need.

There were low beams in the rooms and hallway. My 81 year old father hurt his head on the beam. Staff were brilliant taking care of him. Suggested that next time we book we request a room with no beams, we would then be placed in diff part of hotel with no low beams.

Rooms were clean, very comfortable, quiet and the quality of fixtures and furniture were very good. Décor throughout was well maintained. Food in the restaurant was good and offered good value for money. Breakfast everything you would need to get a good start to your day was avialable.

Might be worth looking at dual pricing for breakfast, I and a colleague only had some fruit, yoghurt and coffee so £17.95 seemed a little expensive but i understand it was self service so no one monitored what you had. But this is a very minor issue.
