We’ve stayed at this hotel on many previous occasions. However in future I will always look to see if there is a small independent alternative because I have learned that the ibis group are “allowing illegal immigrants” to stay in their hotels and I always avoid hotel chains or large independent hotels that do this. I have already refused to stay in many of my previous favourite hotels because of the “illegal immigrant” issue.

Nothing wrong with hotel but my problem is with the hotel chain’s “illegal immigrant” policy.

The room was clean and comfortable. There was snow on the ground when we left and had to dig our car out of the snow. Many thanks to the lovely lady on reception who had been on duty all night and had no way of getting home and had to keep working as the day staff couldn't get there to relieve her..the snow was quite deep. She must have been very tired but sorted out breakfast and even helped some people to clear snow from their car...all with a smile on her face. I didn't get her name but she went above and beyond! I hope she gets paid overtime and then some!

The bathroom became flooded as the shower was not draining very efficiently. Everything else was fine.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and easy Plenty of space in the car park There was a good size menu available (and a Toby Carvery next door if you didn't like the menu), although there wasn't much steak in the steak and ale pie to be honest! Breakfast was good, but I did have to wait for more to come out which would have been an issue if you had to rush in the morning.

Breakfast ran out of numerous offerings and there were a few people who were waiting for this to be topped up which was a little annoying if you were in a rush. Restaurant was a little sterile, more like a service station eatery

Breakfast was very nice. Room was very clean and had seating in it. The rooms are quite basic, ie open hanger - not a wardrobe. No hook in the bathroom to hang clothes whilst showering, but the shower was easy to use and regulate the water temperature. Shower gel and soap included. The bed was comfortable to me but my husband didn't find it comfortable. The staff we spoke to were really friendly and professional. An asset to the Ibis Company. Good hotel for one to two night stay

The TV was on the "dressing table" so not much space for doing hair, but did manage ok. The dressing table light was a bit faulty. I was going to mention this when checking out, but there was just a box to put the room keys into, and nobody on the reception desk.

Staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. Value for money tops this hotel, room, breakfast and parking for under £70.

Restaurant looks more like a canteen than a restaurant, its uninviting and there is no wonder very few people eat in the area at lunch or dinner time. The staff need to be taught about how to serve drinks from the bar. I had a red wine served to me in a gin glass!! They also need to be taught how to use the till properly and ensure they charge correctly too - we even said 'thats not enough' for our drinks but the member of staff responded 'yes its correct'. The service etc is just a little rough around the edges, the team isn't cohesive enough BUT they are ultra friendly.

Everything was great - very clean, comfy bed and pillows, special request followed up on and actioned. We could have had breakfast / a drink / used the communal areas but no need on this occasion. Very friendly receptionist/manager who knew Customer Care - she was excellent!

Not the Ibis fault, but as usual doors banging at all hours. Also, someone having a full blown hands-free conversation in the middle of the night on the car park. We were on the third floor and could hear it all (we were warm and did have the window open). Why do people not have respect for others!

Close to everything that we needed.

The window latches in the room need replacing or at least a seal for the gap. If you close the window in by the latches and hold with your hands, it closes the tiny gap and you can't hear the traffic noise. The slamming of doors of late night travellers can disturb sleep. Breakfast wasn't the greatest, not a lot of continental options. They ran out of orange juice for a few days, so it was hot drink or apple juice or water. I couldn't find no teabags for making tea throughout the week.

I have stayed here before so it was an easy choice to stay here again for the price of a room. The charges for a dog (£10) are reasonable and better compared to a lot of other hotels Beds are comfy, room is a good size. Evening menu was quite good (although would be good to see a change but maybe because I stayed here recently it was still the same)

Lighting in the bedroom is quite poor, no good for working in and the space for working is quite small. Annoying that you have to move the kettle and cups etc each time you want desk space

The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The bed extremely comfortable and extra pillows provided as requested. A quiet room as requested. Can highly recommend the brealfast, particularly for a coeliac as gluten free corn flakes, porridge, sausages and toast can be provided. An extra bonus was the member of staff on reception when we arrived remembered us as we've had several stays there. We felt it was very welcoming

Unfortunately the TV didn't seem to like any of the BBC programmes as none were accessable. This was reported to housekeeping.

The hotel is spotlessly clean staff very friendly and helpful and the beds comfortable. We traveled to Barnsley for a wedding so the fact that it's 2 minutes from the Motorway was good. Also they allowed us to pay an extra £10 for early check in this allowed us to shower and change before going out, and the ironing station really good idea. We didn't eat in the hotel but the menu looked really nice will definitely stay again

Our room was very hot I turned the heating off when we checked in at 1300 but the room was still too warm, when we went to bed, we opened the window but because the hotel is so close to the motorway we got traffic noise. No one was serving on the bar untill around 1600 I wanted to buy some cold drinks had to ask at reception,a vending machine would solve this problem. Our bedroom was on a very busy corridor a lot of families with young children, although non of the families were noisy we were woken quite early this morning by people going for breakfast as we'd been to a wedding a quieter corridor would have been nice but all in all this is a nice hotel and would definitely stay again
