We received the door entry codes prior to getting to The Roost. We chose this place as its ideally situated for day trips to Cardiff, Barry Island, Penarth, the jurrasic coast, porthcawl and The Gower. All rooms were clean and high spec. The bathrooms had power showers and comfy beds. Car parking is free. The restaurant food was excellent, we had the 3 meat sunday roast and there was plenty to eat. The owner Joanne was delightful, a great host and her team too. Each room had a coffee maker and the pods for them. The rooms were quiet and you could not hear the other guests.

The breakfast facilities as there is no hot breakfast available but we found the Old Village Shop Cafe on the A48 was a great tasty breakfast if you want to drive 20 minutes. There was a selection of fruit and croissants in the fridge provided for all 5 rooms.

My first experience checking into the property and my room via codes and no interaction with staff. Lovely comfy bed and spotlessly clean room and ensuite. Large TV and a big standing fan for those hot nights. Great shower and spacious bathroom. A proper coffee maker with capsules for those who like coffee and breakfast tea. Fresh milk from the downstairs fridge. A good assortment of pastries ,cereals, fruit and yoghurt available on the shelf above the fridge. I met one of the staff the following ev ening and he was very pleasant.

As the Roost is a pub a bit of noise to be expected but the darts team returning from an away match woke me up and were chatting away in the carpark under my window until well after midnight. The second night was lovely and quiet! There is no option to turn the overhead light off and just have the bedside lights on. The skylight with a blind was difficult to manage. Sadly the Roost doesn't do meals early in the week so I was unable to have dinner there on Tuesday or Wednesday which was a shame as it has a good reputation for food.

We were a little worried as we passed Cardiff Airport and some industrial sites, but it's situated in a beautiful village on a quiet one way road. I like the idea of having a code for your room and not a key. The room was lovely, in grey and white. Kettle and coffee machine in the room. The bathroom was fabulous! Modern units with bespoke tiles. The shower was incredibly efficient. We visited the restaurant on two occasions, the food was wonderful. Beautifully presented and very tasty. The hosts were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful long weekend.

The only downside was the bed was uncomfortable. A word of warning to anyone wanting to stay that all rooms are on the first floor, up some narrow and winding stairs. It wasn't a problem for us, but just a heads up for anyone struggling to climb.

The check-in was simple and we had previously contacted them to ask to drop our bags off early as we were attending a wedding. The staff prioritised our rooms and one of the rooms was already available by the time of our arrival (5 hours before check-in) and the cleaner was in the other room, unnecessarily apologetic and amazingly friendly. The facilities were superb, gorgeous rooms, comfy beds and more amenities than I could have imagined. The staff even offered to arrange us a taxi to and from the wedding venue which arrived promptly.

Absolutely nothing, it was a pleasure to stay here.

Staff couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming - we had had a long journey - 36hrs, from the other side of the world - we had to stay overnight near Cardiff Airport, in order to pick up a rental car the next day, and were exhausted. They kept the kitchen open especially to cook us a meal, which was great. Food quality excellent & freshly cooked. Good night's sleep, despite our body clocks telling us it should be daytime. Decor is lovely, thoughtful, resting. Would definitely stay again.

If you're after a Full English for breakfast, this may not be the place for you - we loved the muesli & yogurt provided, and there's a coffee machine in your room.

I stayed as I was attending a wedding at the local Manor House - I have to say it a wonderful stay ! Property was recently renovated , rooms were modern , well kitted out - including a proper coffee machine and kettle for tea too , and absolutely spotless! The owners and their team are lovely and very hospitable - prepared to offer those personal touches such as unexpectedly ironing my shirt when all I asked for an iron and board to save me the bother and drive me to venue when there was no taxis ! Very Highly recommended!

We were there for a concert at the principality stadium, self check in was very handy. Not too far from Cardiff city centre. Really clean and modern room with good facilities. Bed was comfy, shower was nice as well. Joanne was very helpful and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant, food was great, nice atmosphere and the staff were really friendly. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Cardiff / Barry.

The only thing was the velux window in our room rattled in the night with the wind. Everything else was perfect!

Friendly staff, comfortable room, and delicious food. When we arrived the host was so friendly, and as were the rest of the staff. The room was clean and facilities and touches were really appreciated. After leaving we left something behind, which was quickly found and Emails were responded to almost instantly! With an offer to post it to us. The restaurant attached is really lovely, with a sunny beer garden and a local feel. The whole place feels nice and tucked out the way, even though it isn’t really!

A really beautiful building, the rooms were spacious and beautifully done out with thought and style. The toiletries were really beautiful and sourced locally. The food downstairs in the pub was delicious - a special thanks to the chef who put together things off menu for us. The continental breakfast was great.

I'm nit picking, as this place really was wonderful, but black out blinds on the windows would have been good, and there was also a blue light thing on the ceiling of our room that we couldn't turn off.

The room and the bathroom was really new and had and great look. It was really clean and we had a lot of space. And the staff was lovely and very friendly.

You couldn't close the door to the bathroom properly. If your are a fresh couple and haven't figured out the toilet situation, that could be uncomfortable. And we stayed over the week, and the restaurant below just opened up on Thursday (if I remember right), that was disappointing.
