The staff was very accomodating and friendly. Jesse & Francis were especially kind and helpful. The location is outstanding--close to the park, shops, cafés, bus line and trains. The Westow itself has tasty fare. The rooms are quaint, squeaky clean, the housekeepers honor the "Do Not Disturb" sign (which I really appreciated), and it was peaceful, comfy and quiet. I thought a room above a pub would be noisy, but it wasn't at all! I slept like a baby, which I rarely ever do. The rooms have their own HVAC unit. I was there for the Crystal Palace Film Festival and the Everyman theatre is just two blocks away.

It says they serve breakfast til 11 am, but they really mean 10:30 am.

the location, the staff, the facilities available in the room. the area is very pleasant and the transport facilities are excellent. the staff was extremely friendly and polite, always ready to accommodate any requests we had. unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try the food in the pub but it looked delicious. the heating and the air con worked really well which was important as it was quite cold during our stay. same goes for hot water: always available and easy to grade to out preferred temperature. the tea/coffee amenities were a life.saver, as we ended up having a few snacks in our room (that's why we missed having a place to sit ;-))

I missed a few things, mainly details, but which would have improved my experience: a mini fridge and seating options in the bedroom, even if just a pair of small stools under the counter, would have made a difference. Besides that, the shower doesn't have a door, just a glass pane half the size of the shower, which doesn't prevent the whole floor from becoming wet while showering.

Place is beautiful, nicely decorated and spacious. Room was very comfy and cosy. Food was very good. Handy to have a good restaurant onsite too. Was a great location for what I needed (I was attending a nearby festival in Crystal palace park) so was perfect for me. Hotel part is securely separate from the bar and the noise doesn't really travel, which I was surprised at as when you walk through to head upstairs it's very noisy but is very quiet once you get to your room.

Bar is very busy so sometimes it's difficult to get the attention of staff, specifically for hotel requests. I'd have liked a few more healthy options for breakfast for hotel guests (fruit, cereals perhaps). Or option for scrambled eggs (to be honest I never asked, but didn't notice them on the menu). Only other thing was the blind in my bathroom didn't fully cover the window, but it isn't a major issue (if no one is spying on you!)

We had visited Westow House on a few occassions as our daughter lives near by but this was a first time staying there. It did not disappoint. Staff are very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The room was very clean and welcoming, it had everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Breakfast, I can highly recommend the Smoked Salmon and Scambled Eggs. Dont be afraid to ask to adapt the breakfast menu the staff are very accomodating. It was a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend staying at Westow House. Oh and did I mention cross the road and you are in Crystal Palace Park a wonderful place for a walk, and there is a great food market on a Sunday.

Nothing I didn't like but if I was being very picky a couple of armchairs in the room would of been nice instead of sitting on the bed. There was plenty of room to accomodate them.

The property was very cosy with opulent decor. The location was fantastic for us to visit family. Our rooms very clean and decor lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable. The food in the pub was exceptional, all very well presented and tasty with the added bonus of 20% discount for pub guests. The staff were so accommodating, especially helpful and couldn’t do enough for my 90 yr old father. Although the pub was very busy, once you were behind the fire doors and into your room it was very tranquil. We will definitely being going back.

The only issue for myself was that there wasn’t sufficient light in the room for me to apply makeup and do my hair, a large lighted mirror would have made all the difference.

It was lovely decor and rooms were quirky and very clean. The staff were so helpful and friendly and paid special attention to my 91 yr old dad. Although the pub was busy, it was quiet upstairs. We were also given a card as a resident for 20% off the food in the restaurant. The food was lovely too, a good variety of dishes. The whole stay for a family wedding was great and we will definitely stay again.

My only criticism is the bedroom was very dark and there wasn’t a mirror big enough to dry my hair and do my makeup, the bathroom also was too dark to put on makeup.

Room was well thought out, with a really comfortable bed and a great view. All the staff were lovely - friendly and helpful. Also, the sound insulation was brilliant - we couldn't hear the party that was going on down the corridor at all. Tasty breakfast. Finally, it had great transport links, with Crystal Palace bus station less than 2 minutes walk away Overall, we had a great stay and, if we needed somewhere again to stay in the area, this would definitely be our first choice.

The room did smell slightly - as though a dog had been sleeping in there. The fan in the shower didn't seem to be working. One of the guests taking a shower at 3:30am and managing to set off the fire alarms in the process - fortunately reset before we got outside.

Overall the Westow is very good for the price. It is in the upper levels of a local pub. While very active in the evenings, the pub noise is not noticed in the rooms. It is on a fairly busy street corner so there are occasional issues with traffic noise, but nothing that keeps you awake all night. The staff is generally friendly and easy to work with. Rooms are tidy and clean. The beds, while comfortable, are not huge; about a full size by U.S. standards. The location is convenient to local shopping and transportation. Both the bus stop and the train station are an easy walk although the hotel is at the top of a long hill so the walk up at the end of the day can be a bit laborious. We have stayed here a few times and have not been disappointed.

The negatives are somewhat minor. While neat and clean, the rooms generally lack storage space/luggage racks so you must "live out of your luggage" which means moving your case from the floor to the bed to gain access to your things. Bed size has been commented on above. Finally, there are no electrical plugs (other than razor outlets) in the bathrooms so you must use dryers and curling irons in the main room.

We loved the style and the decor of this boutique hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly. The room was comfy and stylish with views across London. The breakfast was plentiful and coffee excellent. The luxury natural toiletries were a lovely added extra. We would definitely recommend Westow House for an overnight stay. The location was only 5 mins away from Bovril Castle (Kingsdown House) where we were attending a wedding.

The room was cold when we arrived although heating came on late that night. No full length mirror

I love the Westow pub, I’ve been quite a few times when I lived in London but never stayed over. I wasnt expecting much from a pub hotel but our room was lovely. Stylish, modern, clean. I additionally liked the security of having to have a key card to actually gain access to your floor. Also have to mention it was amazing to have AC in the bedroom. We stayed during a summery hot day and it was a blessing to have a cool room at night. I’ve stayed in much more expensive hotels on summer days and they just provided a fan! I thought it would be super noisy, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t. We added breakfast to our stay and was lovely, could choose anything from the breakfast menu and came with a lovely coffee too. Also all staff were super lovely, friendly and helpful.
