The hotel is Ideal for a visit to Dumphries. It's got a good carpark & a lovely exterior. We were given a warm welcome by the hosts. Our room was a comfortable double at the front of the house. There's no views here but we weren't bothered as it was only an overnight pit stop. The room was very well equipped with hair dryer, ear plugs, brew making facilities, bath robes, boot tray and was immaculately clean. Unlike other hotels I was pleasantly surprised that there were power points next to both mirrors for hair styling. The bathroom was a small shower room, fully equipped with room spray, shower caps, cotton wool pads. The decor is in keeping with the age of the building which we liked, tartan carpets, tartan wall paper. It has a bar but we didn't use it. Breakfast was outstanding and the personal attention by the hosts is fantastic. I'd highly recommend it and would use again.

Fabulous place to stay, highly recommend. The owners Terry & Lynn were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely, and spacious along with really big shower room. Bed really comfortable. Whole place was spotless. Lynn cooked a mean breakfast and poached eggs were perfect.

Was really looking forward to my shower in the lovely modern shower room but unfortunately I couldn’t get the temperature to regulate. Although I mentioned this to Terry on checkout and he said he would look at it so I’m sure it will be ok in future. I gave to add it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of my stay.

The host and hostess are the nicest people. Very warm and friendly and eager to share recommendations. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The pillows were soft and squishy like back home. Bathroom was large and lovely.  breakfast is plentiful and you can select which ever options you would like to have. 

Guests should know there is no elevator. The host was very willing to carry suitcase upstairs, but still, I would like to know that before booking the property. 

Very large car park and close enough to the town to walk, although due to the torrential rain when we were going out, we did get a taxi to the town (the taxi fare was £6.00 for approx 0.8 miles). We had a large clean room overlooking the front of the hotel with a comfortable bed and good breakfast in the morning, before we moved on to our next destination.

This is a lovely hotel, clean, nice rooms, comfy bed. Close enough to walk into town and ample parking which was great for us as we were in a van. The breakfast was amazing, good quality ingredients and very tasty, we weren't brave enough to try the haggis! The host's make this hotel, friendly, cheeful, attentive and go the extra mile. We only stayed for one night unfortunately but will definitely return

Excellent location, near to local town centre and amenities; free parking on site; spotlessly clean hotel with lovely welcoming and friendly staff, who shared their excellent local knowledge. Breakfast was excellent value for money and with friendly prompt service. Room was ideal for our stay, with lovely ensuite facilities, tea and coffee making facilities in room on arrival. Bed was comfortable allowing a restful and excellent night's sleep. Hotel is located near to excellent transport links with no traffic noise issues. Would highly recommend The Hill Hotel for a quiet get-away, whether a short break or for those wishing to explore Dumfries and Galloway area for a holiday.

I recently stayed at The Hill Hotel and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out, the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. Friendly and professional. It was ideal for a short visit to local friends. There's free wifi, tea-making, and all you'd expect. The breakfast was great, with a good choice - and especially super porridge!

The size of the room, but there's not a lot that could be done about that, and the layout, facilities etc. made the best of the space - so it's hardly a complaint.....

The room was clean and warm and had everything we needed. The breakfast was generous and very tasty. The best part was the friendliness of the hosts, though. They were very chatty and nice, and really did their best to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

The toilet in our bathroom didn't flush very well.

Breakfast was very tasty,nice served,room good size,comfortable bed,big bathroom,very clean,soft towels.Hotel have WI-FI,what is important for me.Very friendly owner,in hotel Lin have a nice bar open till 22.00 inside and outside.To centre just 5-7 min.walk.

Big problem to faund anywhere to eat from fraiday all weekend,need do booking day before.
