The Mowbray was in a great location for the seafront and restaurants. Parking was easy aswell as long as you have a permit. Angela was brilliant....breakfast was absolutely amazing. The main building was lovely as was the lounge.

We were one of 2 couples staying and we were put in Room 15 which looked nothing like the photos. Now considering we were supposed to have had a room upgrade to a deluxe king size......we were disappointed to say the least. Bed was huge. Room was tired and scruffy.....definitely NOT deluxe. Shower head was loose and electrics on the top of shower unit open to water so beware. Electrical items....hairdryer and iron...hadn't been pap tested since 2019!

The "check-in" was a little unusual. There are no staff to meet and greet; instead several emails were sent in advance and key codes were given for the initial opening of the main door and bedroom doors; there is a key card waiting on the dressing table which can be used thereafter. The room was a very small single but they managed to get an ensuite toilet and shower and a tiny wardrobe space. There was tea and coffee and lots of extras, including lots of milk and even some complimentary sweets and chocolates.For £3 a day you can perchase a parking permit which can be used all over Eastbourne but I parked my car right outside the hotel including for the whole day after checking out when I'd moved it to the seafront. Breakfast was exceptional - one of the best I've had at any hotel. It was a chilly day in late May and I was pleasantly surprised that the heating was on in my room . The breakfast staff were lovely, helpful and very efficient. It was a very short walk to the Congress theatre and to the pier, seafront and town centre. There was a guest lounge and books available to read

I was very happy with everything.

Breakfast had a great choice of starters with a good choice of cooked food and afters. Good room with tea making also good bathroom and shower. Location was very good for getting to the tennis tournament. Also close to food outlets for evening meals a few yards away.

Of course being close to roads meant that traffic noise was bad until about midnight then OK. Some people walking past late at night need to learn not to talk so loud as sound travel 3 times more clear at night.

The place had a relaxed atmosphere. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, with coffee and tea facilities and little treats! I had a couch to sit on during the day, and there was plenty of cupboard space. The ensuite bathroom had all that was required. The initial passcode entry system and the use of a keycard thereafter, was simple to negotiate..I LOVED the location, being so near the sea and theatres. The town centre was within walking distance. Breakfast was very adequate, with the hot food cooked to order, and staff polite, but informal and friendly. Everywhere looked clean and well kept. I didn't have time to use the lounge during my stay, but it looked comfortable and welcoming!

I have stayed here before and it still is lovely. Nice perks in the room, such as the coffee machine, tea, coffee, biscuits, etc. Also, a fan was in our room on arrival, which was very much needed and appreciated. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. Huge bed.

The door to our room (room 14) was so sticky, and therefore really hard to open every time. The sheets on the bed didn’t quite cover the large bed and by morning, our bodies were touching the mattress. Perhaps fitted base sheets may be better. A bigger bin in the room would also be useful.

Superb breakfast - faultless. Great selection and all fresh food with excellent service. Really comfy bed with clean linen - great night's sleep every night.

Room 5 was very small with little room around the bed to move round and we are not big people. The shower was sufficient, but the wash basin was very tiny. A shelf ran the full length of the wall above the basin making it very hard to use - either spilling water on the floor or fitting your head between the shelf and the basin.

The room had blackout blinds which was really good and the bed was extremely comfortable. Very quiet at night too. The room was bright with the big windows and the Sun in the afternoon which was nice. The shower had good pressure too and warmed up quickly. There was a double plug by the bed too which was handy.

I have no dislikes with this property.

I was quite astonished to read some reviews on another site that gave this hotel bad comments? During my 4 day stay I found The Mowbray a wonderful and totally relaxing venue. They offer great coffee, tea, snacks and a full TV service. The shower is powerful and hot... although my disability made it somewhat difficult to use. Room service was not needed, but without fail the drinks and snacks were replenished every day and my bed tidied. This hotel wasn't offering breakfast during my stay, but it offers an honesty bar, has a lift and is located close to the seafront and The Devonshire Theatre. Highly recommended.

Very heavy and noisy, late night traffic...both from cars and motorcycles. The rather steep stairs to access the property proper.

The location was excellent, just across the road from Devonshire Park theatre and very close to the seafront. I had a single room which was very comfortable and had everything I needed. There were clear instructions on how to achieve an early arrival which was ideal for me to go to a matinee at the theatre.

We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and hospitality of all the staff on duty. The bed was very comfortable. The room code and key card were easy to use. The information provided through text messages were helpful, as too were the information given about the area and local places to visit. The parking permit was very useful and put us at ease with parking our car.

Wasn't able to regulate the radiator tempature in our room to turn it up to make the room a little warmer. I believe that the customer should be given that choice, rather than it be set by the staff. Also the bathroom radiator never came on despite pressing the correct switch. Lastly a minor point, the bedside lamp wasn't working, so the ceiling spot lights had to be used most of the time, which didn't provide the right ambience at times, and which also meant that to use the remote control at night, the ceiling lights had to be switched on rather than a simple bedside lamp. The faulty bedside lamp was reported to a member of staff, who was already aware of it, however, the lamp was not replaced during our stay.
