Staff very helpful, room comfortable.

The decor needs updating - emphasis is on pretty young women, somewhat objectified. Time to move on from the male gaze to something we can all enjoy.

A fantastic stay in a wonderful location. The hotel is above a restaurant/pub, which offered great food and the breakfast was amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming with someone calling to ensure our booking. We stayed on a Sunday on the second floor, and despite it being above a bar, it was actually very quiet. The location is fantastic, in a residential/student area about 10 minutes pleasant walk through the part to all of the sights of Edinburgh. Highly recommend!

It was expensive, but this is Edinburgh during the Fringe festival and I don't think you would get much better value. The parking situation was not ideal, there is a lot of parking around, but all to be paid for. Would be good if the hotel could offer some customer spaces.

Decor and luxury feel of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and available until 12pm. Quiet and scenic location. Nice extra touches with complimentary water and biscuits.

There were 3 different entrances to the hotel which was confusing at first and one smelt a little on entry. It therefore meant we were not greeted on arrival, we had to find a member of staff within the restaurant. The duvet was really thick so we were hot during the night but it had a luxurious feel so that was more a personal preference. Room was small but expected as it was described as a ‘cozy’ feel, it was really nicely decorated. It is a little far out but worth the walk.

Loved the location in relation to where I needed to be. Loved the beds!! Very conformable. Room was well appointed and very conformable. Hotel was warm and cosy with nice outdoor area, cosy indoor areas, well kept and maintained. Very homely. Amenities were excellent. Great Soap and cream and shampoo - but no conditioner. Good water and tea and biscuits. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Good amount of hanging space. Really a great room.

Room was dusty. I had to do a clean of all the surfaces that had a thick layer of dust. Bathroom shower door was broken - only half of it remained so the bathroom got wet I found a red g-string at the head of the bed that was rather a surprise. The bin bag liners didn't fit

Loved the whole vibe of the hotel. Fabulous decor, both inside and the outside terrace overlooking the park. Comfortable and stylish bedroom. Beautiful. Fluffy big towels, yum! Staff were super friendly and helpful and quietly there, welcoming us warmly.

Hot water in the shower was lukewarm (RM 101). Should have been a few degrees warmer for a more enjoyable shower! Also bath robes would have been a nice touch. We were surprised no fridge in the room (you can buy small flat commercial fridges which fit against a wall, we ve had this in previous hotels) as we would have bought fresh milk (or you could supply small cartons / bottles, again like other hotels). No physical Reception area was disconcerting as we came late at night and it was a little disorientating!

Lovely room, comfortable bed, great food, great staff.

The entire downstairs indoor area turns into a sports bar with loud thumping music later in the evening. We booked a meal at this time (no slots available earlier) and the noise was actually painful. I couldn't find anywhere to escape from it indoors although outside was quieter. The DJ turned it down for twenty minutes but it was soon back at excruciating levels and we left the table. We raised this with the management and it will be "taken on board". We didn't like watching the bar staff as they had to stand on a wheeled chair to reach the shelves of whisky bottles. A health and safety issue the management said they couldn't solve.

love the unique decor & the Christmas decorations throughout which made the whole stay very Christmassy . Food & drink was very nice especially the Scottish breakfast . The location was also beautiful , we overlooked the park . We got a bus straight to St Andrews square from across the park as taxi where very busy , the bus stopped right outside the Ivy where we had are evening meal booked . So it was perfect really .

the parking was not the best but we got very lucky we rang the hotel & Taylor advised us someone had just left so she stood outside & kept the space for us ., it was free parking so we can’t complain but it works of been a nightmare walking to hotel from a car park if we didn’t get a space .

Location is in a lovely quiet spot and perfect for walking to lots of Edinburghs attractions - the Castle, Greyfriars Bobby, Royal Mile, and Holyrood. The hotel is so pretty, and the room was warm, clean and the bed was super comfortable! I had the cosy double which was perfect for a solo traveller. Great selection of teas, plus complimentary biscuits and bottled water. The bathroom was nice and clean and beautiful smelling toiletries. Restaurant had a nice atmosphere, friendly and kind staff.

Occasionally in the evening/night I could hear and feel a vibration like a phone on vibrate. Couldn't work out where is was coming from.

Lovely looking room with a great view. The bed was really comfortable & the view wasn't bad. The decor overall is really cool. I miss the ping pong table & fire pits outside though, bring them back or someone similar!

No reception so didn't know where to go when we arrived. Woke up a few times throughout the night because there was a really cold draft, not what you'd expect for £170 a night in a suite to be fair. I was also gutted that they got rid of the tables with the fire outside, the reason I booked was to sit and chill out there in the evening so that was disappointing. Sent my old fashioned back because it was horrible, exactly what you'd expect from.a famous grouse old fashioned, it was quickly fixed though and bartender made me a maker's mark one instead. We didn't get any interaction from staff either, I had requested a work space and nothing was mentioned about it, so we found somewhere else.

Decor and comfy beds

No service of room due to covid. Whilst it was on note in envelope given to us when arrived we didn't read until too late. Had to request service by 3pm day before - so on checkin. Staff should have pointed out.
