Location was great. I never stayed in the West End and I quite enjoyed the walk to my various haunts. Plus, public transportation was super easy. The staff were fantastic, especially the concierge!

The room looking out towards the park was VERY noise on Thursday- Saturday night. My room was directly about the outdoor seating area which was VERY LIVELY on Thurs-Saturday. Also, my room was directly above the restaurant, I could hear the boom, boom, boom of the base from the music being played. Luckily, I travel with earplug and had to use them on those nights or stay out past 1 AM when things were winding down. The other nights I could only slightly hear the boom of the base; it was not enough to warrant me wearing my earplugs. All in all, I probably would stay again but try a room facing the other side and on the 2nd floor.

It was so cozy and cute. There was a really comfy bed with lots of pillows and a fun bar/restaurant attached.

It’s a little far from the city center so you have to take a bus or walk a while, but the bus stop is only 4 minutes walk and the bus ride is about 15 minutes.

Staff very helpful, room comfortable.

The decor needs updating - emphasis is on pretty young women, somewhat objectified. Time to move on from the male gaze to something we can all enjoy.

Really lovely hotel. Beautiful bar area/restaurant. I've stayed at the Radisson Blu Hotel, amongst others in Edinburgh and I think the service at 'The Black Ivy' is a class above them all. Great food as well as service. The Christmas decorations were fabulous.

It would have been a nice extra if there had been a comfy chair in the room - as there was plenty of space. Also, because the member of staff on 'the door' is looking after the restaurant bookings etc as well, there is no one to actually take you up to your room if you arrive at a busy time.

What's not to like xx but the staff that I spoke with at my time if need were exceptional !!! Calum and Maya xx I hope I've spelled your names correctly xx This beautiful boutique hotel has great bones now it also exudes that extra sparkle xx Ps my Fiancé is by no means a prude but he pointed out that there are a lot of ladies in the pictures....so my thoughts are ....a wee picture 📸 of the male of the species would be great xx even better all the people out there that identify as themselves xx The bulbs in the bedside lamps...maybe 20 watt would be better...but that's being picky xx We can't wait to come back !! LOVE that you guys are supporting the North Berwick supplier by providing us with her wonderful range of goodies to keep us squeaky clean ❤️ xx Oh a wee question where did you get the outside shades from? Simply stunning 😍

That our stay was so short and that we never managed to try any of the food and drinks...next time we are in the City we will be sure to stay for longer and have the full experience xxx

The styling of this beautiful old property was beautiful. Our room had a gorgeous view of the gardens across the road through the huge bay windows. Beds were super comfortable and even though Edinburgh was cold, the room had 2 very efficient radiator heaters so warm and toasty. The shower had good pressure and the water was nice and hot. Lots of room in both the room and bathroom. Food in the restaurant/bar was delicious and value for money. Shout out to Taylor who helped us during the day with our small requests and Martin the night manager who went above and beyond, making us coffees at 5 in the morning, hauling our heavy bags down the stairs for us when we checked out and just being an all round top guy.

Friday and Saturday nights are noisy! The restaurant and bar downstairs go off and there’s a DJ, so loud bass and people laughing, talking and enjoying themselves can be heard into the wee hours of the morning. So if you’re there for these nights wear some earplugs!

The location of the hotel was ideal as our daughter lives only minutes away and rooms, staff, bars etc. were superb. We were lucky to get a table for dinner as the hotel was extremely busy due to the 6 nations game and we were pleased we did. The food was superb as was the ambience in the restaurant and would thoroughly recommend

The room was quite noisy as we were directly above the terrace however this did not affect our sleep during our stay but may be bothersome to guests who consider themselves light sleepers.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the friendliness, helpfulness and professionalism of the staff. This really made a big difference to our stay - making us feel welcomed, comfortable and well looked after. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious, with super comfortable beds. And the breakfast selection was great. Our delicious full Scottish breakfast arrived on a sizzling skillet. The hotel's signature dishes for dinner were also excellent and good value too. The outdoor terrace area was buzzing in the evening as visitors enjoyed their drinks in spaces dotted with quirky fringed standard lamps. The location was just right, near enough to walk into the city centre, or hop on a local bus, whilst the hotel could be found up a quiet road enjoyed views over a large park.

Great customer service, staff really smiley and very helpful. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and a lovely atmosphere. Breakfasts were really good, as was the Sunday roast, bar snacks and cocktails!

Saturday night was extremely loud with live music and DJ. Couldn’t sleep till it stopped after 1am. Next time we stay we will simply embrace this by joining in! We now have FOMO 😂

The restaurant and bar are really lovely and the food was delicious. The room was of a good standard. Bed was comfortable, sheets were clean and bathroom was clean also. The room had an ironing board, iron and hair dryer. Additionally, kettle for tea and coffee alongside bottles of water and some biscuits. The toiletries were a Scottish brand and smelt divine. The noise from the bar and restaurant was barely audible at the back!

Checking in at bar after a long trip wasn’t ideal. Walls were quite scuffed and marked. Carpet didn’t look particularly clean. The bathroom door was covered in something that the last guest must have accidentally sprayed over it. There was no working light switch beside the bed so I had to get up to turn off the main switch after reading my book - small niggle.
