Staff Are Super Friendly & Couldn’t be more helpful!! Location is fantastic right in the centre but on a back street so nice and quiet! The Hostel is a Great Price to include breakfast too!

The only draw back is there was only 2 working showers and 2 toilets so make sure you plan around busy times. Also if you want breakfast get in quick as the kitchen isn’t big enough for all and gets super hot.

Even though the breakfast is self-serve, we had several options: white/brown bread, cornflakes/bran cereal, milk, eggs, orange juice, butter, jam, ketchup, etc. The hostel is right in the city's heart, just a few minutes walk from the Royal Mile. Eating places are just a stone's throw away. The staff is friendly & helpful. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils & cutlery. We could even label our food and store it in the refrigerator for cooking later.

The mattress was a bit hard, only two showers were in working condition and the washbasins were super tiny.

Perfect location - close to bus station, airport bus stop, bars, city center. Hostel is well maintained and has nice common area.

It says lockers are provided but there is a separate charge (£2) for a lock - is there a point of a locker with no lock? Showers are really small and room door alarm is very annoying - you scan the card, get in and then door alarm beeps for no reason, maybe broken. Also, curtains need to be fixed.

It was clean, stylish commual area , friendly staff , easy check I procedure , comfortable bed . It is very central great location to start and explore the city. Quiet , since it’s tucked away at the back of Princess street although central this place does not suffer from excessive city noise . The continental breakfast was a nice touch and was a good start to the day. The kitchen was easy to use and being able to cook a simple meal for sure is good for budget travel. I would recommend this place despite some minor minus points .

The rooms are definitely on the smaller side but that was to be expected. The mixed gender showers were somewhat akward , that was the biggest minus point for me. No night lights on the bunk beds. The price : due to Genius discount and voucher for me it was a very cheap booking but if it was full price I don’t think 37.50£/night is the right pricepoint but I guess the location plays a big factor here.

Breakfast was amazing: Eggs, orange juice, toast with jam or marmalade and cereals (it felt almost like a hotel) Shower felt weird at first and I was afraid my things would get wet but they stayed dry and the water pressure was just right. Location was really good. I could reach almost all of the major attractions by walking. People there were really nice and everyone just started chatting to you which was nice for a solo traveler. Went up to Arthur’s seat with some people from the hostel and might keep in touch with them as well. The locker space in the room was optimal and the bed felt comfortable.

Not something they are able to change but some of the people in the room talked while there were still very much people sleeping.

The location is a bit away from the very busy old town, which is a plus because in the evenings the old town was very noisy. The hostel is close to public transport, airport bus and Royal Mile. The bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and expert. I can recommend this hostel.

There could be coat/jacket hooks in the dorms. The shower system is strange and not very comfortable, this arrangement would work better in single sex showers. Wi-fi was only available in the main room. Breakfast started at 8.00, which is a bit late for those who want to get an early start. The hostel is only accessible by narrow stairs- mind that, if you need walking assistance.

The hostel accommodation was a great price, fantastic and located well opposite the station. It includes breakfast. I didn't have this Greggs about 200 yards away in Waverly station, I had an early train. All the other guests were super polite and very lovely. I think for a night stay, but maybe not for a longer. The place is hygienically clean.

My issue is that the common room gets very crowded with guests. Everyone is lovely and very polite, very nice. There are two communal showers and toilets, and they would benefit from getting the current ones fixed or adding additional ones. There is no working lift. You need to pack lights and be reasonably fit. Remember to pack a towel or travel towel, or you'll need to rent one for £2, despite saying free on Booking.com. Overall, it was a great place to stay for the night, with a fantastic location, and supper clean. The staff are friendly.

Staff were wonderful, super helpful, super nice Great location Great price cant beat it Clean, comfy beds, with plug socket and light Able to store my luggage before and after Didnt end up having the free breakfast but brilliant that they offer it

Not really a complaint just a heads up the hostel is up a spiral staircase so can be hard with big bags The room was so cold i had to wear a coat to bed and its not an easy fix obviously but there is only 2 toilets for the whole hostel so often have to wait often

The Baxter is great value for money ! Staff were friendly and informative. Being able to leave my bag there before the 3pm check in was amazing. Definitely was happy not to lug it around all day! bed was comfortable enough. Loved the wee bikkie on the bed when I arrived, very nice touch. Breakfast was simple but effective. I over all great value for money !!

There were a couple of down sides the bathrooms are very very tight !! nice and clean but very compact. other downside it the stairs, specially if you had a suitcase from what I could see there was no lift or anything and to get to The Baxter there is a spiral staircase for me the stairs weren't an issue but I did see a few others struggling a bit

Location location location…the tour bus I came in on…right there, the train I was leaving on…right there. Access to every part of town lead out from there. The staff especially Graham(what a sweet extremely helpful and patient guy) and Declan was also very helpful with my brain fog and checking my stuff while I was out. Great breakfast…eggs and a range of breads and spreads and facilities to cover your other cooking needs.

Probably that maybe a little maintenance needs to be done in the bathroom ie. to have all showers working and drains given a good clean out so water drains and air vents needed a good dusting.
