Location is good, especially arriving by train at Waverley - short walk on the flat, except for last bit which is slope downhill. The guy on front desk seemed helpful, we didn't need anything but I could hear he was being very helpful to other guests.

I really didn't like that we were not told in advance that the room was down a windy stair case (approx 2 flights), this was after going up in the lift. I understand there is some history behind it as an old building, but surely the hotel should be making people aware of the inaccessibility when booking these rooms - we managed, but honestly a lot of people with mobilty issues would struggle.

Beautifully presented and clean. Very quiet and comfortable. One of the best hotel rooms I have experienced. Great location, very close to Waverley, buses and tram to airport. A few restaurants close by.

The breakfast price was very high, 15 pounds or so for continental. Went to a local Cafe for 5 pounds instead. The tv was a bit small.

Very close to the hop on hop off bus network so you could very easily travel to all the key areas and sites of Edinburgh. Comfy bed and good space to spread out the luggage. Very close to one of the best lookouts in Edinburgh. Tip the OnOff buses run a 24 or 48 hour valid ticket so best to buy the ticket around the time you check in so it is still valid for the day you check out. The Hotel has a luggage store area which the reception staff monitor so you can spend the last day touring. Also next door to Howies restaurant which does some excellent traditional Scottish food - very popular so book ahead.

Didn’t like there was no lift. Didn’t like older bathroom style eg shower in bath but it was clean and not unusual for EU/UK.

The location was very handy for Waverley Station as it was just a short walk along Waterloo Place to get to Calton Hill. The hotel was quiet and the bed was very comfortable and I had pretty views from my window. Reception staff were all very friendly, professional and super helpful.

Nothing that I didn't like - It was quite pricey but Edinburgh in August is pricey everywhere. If I had to find a fault then the bathroom was a bit dated but it didn't spoil my stay at all! There is one word of warning though.. approach the hotel from Waterloo Place and not from the other end of Calton Hill as it is an extremely steep hill! The hotel is near the top of the hill so if you approach from Waterloo Place you don't have to navigate any of the hill!

Location and uniqueness really stood out. Hop On & Off buses pick up a 45second walk. Waverly Station just downhill a short distance. Carlton Hill immediately next door. Communication with the property was very good as well. Bed very comfortable. My friend was an addition to my solo trip and when I inquired for another room or a room change to 2 beds they were incredibly accommodating despite being sold out for the Beltane Fire celebration I bet (Our reason for being there). They did offer us the only larger bedroom available their big suite for a very modest upgrade fee. We shared the large king bed and enjoyed the lovely views and cross breeze with the windows open. They also helped us to our suite and no fuss to use the lift (elevator) to limit my stair climbing to the minimum required (I hurt my Achilles just before the trip so stairs were painful and risky). Look forward to returning one day!

Pictures definitely taken at its best and as it is an old property it is showing some wear in current state. Breakfast was the only disappointment and my friend and I picked through options despite ordering hot breakfast. A little heavy in grease and eggs overcooked or undercooked depending on the dish. (Heavy in the grease beyond the norm we have experienced in our frequent travels to the UK). A bit noisy from traffic as it was warm so had to open windows for a breeze. Interfered with sleep for the both of us. (Beltane Fire celebration was going on at Carlton Hill which we attended and it wasn’t the noise issue. Just traffic in the busy heart of the city that we aren’t used to having just spent quiet peace in a cottage by itself out in the Pentland Hills).

The bed (a single in a twin room: I was sent here by Easyjet when they cancelled an evening flight I was due to be on) was soft but I found it super-comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful late at night and early in the morning. They were fine with me ordering Uber Eats to the door and gave me cutlery to use. The bathroom was new and very nicely decorated. Good TV. Ramp throughout the ground floor to cope with changes of level which was great for me with a heavy case on wheels, but would also be good for wheelchair users, buggies, etc.

I was shocked at the price for a midweek night (over £250) but it's not unusual for Edinburgh. I wouldn't have stayed here myself at the price if Easyjet hadn't been paying. The hotel entrance is set back from Waterloo Place down a small alleyway and looks a bit unattractive but the hotel is fine when you get inside.

The location was EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT and EXCELLENT! and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I really liked that we could open the windows (and lock them in place).

We booked two nights well in advance and the day before arriving booked one night for our cousin and she got a much bigger room :( I found the room lighting too dim (no central light) I encourage you to consider spending the money to fix the central lift - it was a major safety issue for us with very heavy suitcases, and I think a safety issue for your staff.

I like that it is in the centre but slightly hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I love when you walk through the door the fire is always lit. This was my second stay at this hotel. I’ve been here around February before and now April. They’ve been slightly colder months so coming into a warm and inviting reception is my favourite part of this hotel. This hotel doesn’t feel like your typical hotel. It feels more like home. The ladies at the desk were so welcoming and incredibly helpful.

The windows didn’t open in the room. I think this is because the building is older and by default the windows are older. However, I did find that during the day the room was cool but later at night it got warmer. So, the window not opening wasn’t a huge issue. It’s just a personal preference. They key to the room was an actual key rather than a key card. Again, it’s just personal preference. It is easier to put a key card in your purse.

The hotel is located in a central but quiet spot, right under Calton Hill. Close to shops, restaurants, Royal Mile and anything else you may be interested in. Edinburgh is a walkable city so, within max 30 min walk you can get to attractions like markets, museums etc. The hotel is located in a perfect place for anywhere you want to go. 20 min bus ride takes you to Portobello Beach, in one way, or to Leith, in another direction. Our room was warm and cozy, very clean and full of Scottish charm. People working at the hotel are very nice and friendly, they will make you feel really welcome. Housekeeping is very attentive and keeps the rooms nice and tidy at all times. The Parliament House Hotel was a fantastic place for our 5 day stay, and we would happily be there for a week or 2.

If I really had to complain it would be about noisy neighbours in other rooms, some people just don’t know how to behave in public places, or lack basic consideration for others. That said, it’s not the hotel’s fault. The only thing that wasn’t perfect otherwise, was a shower pressure 😉

The room was very spacious, clean for the price and is a five-minute walk from Waverley. The best surprises come in the form of the Wi-Fi speed and water pressure. The Wi-Fi was actually >100Mbps with no hiccups (I got some major work done during the night hours), and you will get the best shower you can get in a 3-star hotel, ever.

In room amenities could be better: A few cotton buds or a box of facial tissue wouldn't cost the hotel the world, but the choose not to include it. The lift works, but is a bit slow and unnerving. The decorative pillows look a bit dated, yet they provide so many of them. Some curtains need changing.
