The location is fantastic! It's right beside the train station, and the Old Town neighborhood of Edinburgh, and is a ten minute walk to Calton hill and the National Gallery. The staff are kind and helpful and the have lots of information to help you plan your trip to Edinburgh and day trips around Scotland. They also have a free water bottle filling station, and free shampoo and liquid soap that you can refill to be eco friendly. The wifi worked quite well! From reading the reviews, I was a bit confused about whether or not there is a kitchen, and the answer is "sort of." Upstairs there is a combination of a luggage storage / lounge area with a counter, a small fridge, a microwave, a kettle and a sink. There were a few reusable cups and plates and bowls as well as disposable bamboo cutlery. There was free tea and coffee and sugar. So, if it helps keep the costs down, I am okay with using the make shift kitchen as I was able to be resourceful and creative and still keep to a budget by buying groceries I could cook in the microwave. I stayed in the 6 bed female dorm, and at first when I was looking at the photos of the room here on booking.com, the room looked kind of cramped and the beds on the bottom bunk looked like they were right on the floor, but don't be put off by the photo because the room feels a lot more spacious in real life than in the photo! Also the bottom bunk beds are not right on the floor even though it looks that way in the photo. I LOVED the privacy curtains!! This was my first time in a hostel with privacy curtains and I loved it! It was like sleeping in a cozy tent. The shower was wonderful too and had good shower power. There is some free luggage storage, but the lockers are smaller and you have to bring your own lock. After playing Tetris a bit I was able to fit my Osprey backpack in there. There are also lots of bigger lockers you have to pay for using a computer screen system.
It would be nice to have a real kitchen, but if the kettle and microwave helps keep this hostel at it's affordable price, then it is worth it!

The location was great. The staff at the reception were very nice, and I really liked the atmosphere. The 25% discount at their own cafeteria and the restaurant across the street was also a great idea. The lockers with a secure password system were another plus. If I come again, I would definitely choose this place again. Thanks to everyone.
It felt a bit strange that the bunk beds were for three people, and by chance, I ended up on the top bunk. I made the reservation knowingly and intentionally, but I still think it would be better if it were for two people. The bottom bunk could cause some anxiety.

The location is very conveninent. It's very close to the Edinburgh Waverley train station and less than 5 minutes walk to the the Airlink 100 which goes directly to the EDI airport. There are many bars in the vicinty of the hostel, East Princess Sterrt Gardens and historicla objects. Hostel offers multiple feminine rooms with private bathroom. There are also public showers and toilets and chillout room where kettle and fridge are available.
The noise from nearby bars can be annoying, but it depends on the purpose of your visit. You can also make a noise together with opthers. The hostel offers a discount for one of them. You need a padlock to lock your locker, but you can buy one at the reception.

It’s difficult to describe such an incredible travel experience. But I’ll try. From the moment I walked in the front door, I felt like I was with family. Allan’s smile at the front desk lit up the whole lobby - and that was before I saw his arms… the man could be a model, but I digress. Rūta also helped with the check-in and she was quick to compliment my fireman-like appearance, which meant a lot because that’s my dream career. Throughout my stay they were helpful and friendly and I considered abandoning my family to move into the hostel full time because of how enjoyable the experience was. So to summarize: The staff: stunning The service: superb The stay: supernatural Until next time, The Canadian Firefighter

Location! Meters away from train station, flight of stairs away from Royal mile. Helpful staff. Option to use lockers for luggage when arriving early or departing later than checking times. All guests have a discount in on site cafe and a bar across the street. It is not the newest and obvious tear and wear, but its clean.
It does need some repairs here and there. Bathroom could do with upgrades. We had a mouse visiting. Extra guest was evicted, all room cleaned and bedding changed. The worst thing was the pillows - way too small and soft, more like a folded sheet with case over.

Very central location, train station is close by, bus station to/from the airport is also only a few minutes away. quite happy with the room and the facilitites. Great place to start exploring Edinburgh for the first time. Giles Cathedral and the famous walking street Royal Mile only a short walk away. The hostel had some activities and recommendations almost each day, like free salsa classes, pizza night etc. Free storage lockers were great to have, I appreciated that.
Was mostly happy with the place. I had an unfortunate experience where my food (labeled, placed in the hostel fridge in the common area) dissapeared, I can not know if it was removed by accident or some other fellow traveller took it, etc. But I got som free food from another fellow traveller staying there and there's always a few snacks in the kitchen.

The breakfast is amazing with yogurt, fruit, cereal, and options to make your own sandwich. The location is great. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.
The communal toilets were not very clean.

Location is excellent. Right next to train station. Staff were excellent and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Temperature in dormitory was just right. Bed was comfortable. The 25% discount on food and drink for guests at Jake's Cafe next door was very welcome.
Coming home again! As a little joke, why is it that the only person who doesn't hear an alarm go off at 6 O'clock in the morning is the person who set it lol!

The location was perfect - near Waverley Station, 5min from the Airlink 100 and just round the corner from Cockburn Street. Breakfast was good. Different juices, coffee and tea. Also toast with butter and jam, chocolate spread and a sandwich maker and a toaster. Cereals were also there. And fresh fruit. Bonus tip: bring your own yogurt and pimp your breakfast, there is a great food hall in the basement of M&S opposite from Scott’s monument in Prince’s Street. The beds were good and I liked that curtains ensured privacy. We had a nice view to Scott’s monument.
The chill out room could have been a bit bigger and a proper kitchen would’ve been nice, but it’s alright.

I stayed in a women's dorm, there was a separate toilet and a shower in our room, which made us more comfortable. The beds were nice and clean. The kitchen and the locker facilities are really convenient. The view from the room was amazing at night.Couldn't expect more than these services. Highly recommended.
We were very lucky because there was a lift otherwise we had to carry our luggage up to our room. However, the lift service could be improved. Secondly, there could be a door matt in front of the shower which could keep our room a bit dry.
