Hotel was beautiful, clean and had all the amenities available without having to ask. Had afternoon tea and enjoyed the options and seating area. Actually, every meal we had there - lunch, or breakfast, had a good selection. Staff was generally attentive and always very polite. When booking the room and booking the lunch, we noted that we were there for our anniversary and they added a few lovely chocolates & macarons in our room and at our lunch - very grateful for the extra attention.

Had only a few instances where staff was not very attentive at meal times and had to flag someone down for assistance. Parking is very small and limited at the cost of 20 pounds per day - however, due to the location, we were able to walk to downtown area and even up to the castle.

A great location. A very grand hotel with wonderful rooms...ours was really lovely, quiet and with great views. Plenty of very comfortable lounge areas on the ground floor to sit and relax with friends. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated, with walls adorned with old oil paintings, ceilings with chandeliers and corridors with antique furniture. Friendly, polite and helpful staff...and although it poured down, Edinburgh was still a beautiful and welcoming city.

We all found the breakfast menu confusing and expensive, although you could not complain about the food on offer or the service. ...Also, don't have the sticky toffee pudding, not one member of our party liked it! It was really awful! It didn't spoil our experience at all though....

The interior designer/decorator of this gorgeous hotel is brilliant. The lush textures, the thoughtful touches, rich colors and color palettes, the coziness, quiet luxury and beauty of each room and area was just perfection. You wanted to just melt into a velvet chair or take tea next to the huge windows overlooking the city or read a book on a plush sofa in some cozy corner. Beautiful.

The bathroom needs some minor functionality fixes. The hot/cold tap in the tub/shower is finicky and hard to get to the perfect temperature so you’re just constantly fiddling with it all. There’s not enough surface area near the sink or shower to store your necessary toiletries. We didn’t have water glasses in our room which would have been useful, just small glasses in the bathroom.

This was our third visit to the Bonham. It’s the perfect place for anybody looking to stay in a truly beautiful old (1872) building, the ultimate sybaritic antidote to the stripped down Ikea look that is so prevalent in hotels nowadays. Although few of us would consider it cut-priced, it is something of a bargain compared with its obvious grand Edinburgh rival, the Waldorf Astoria (Caledonian). It’s a very calm and restful place to stay, and the immaculately decorated walls of its striking public rooms are adorned with works of art, courtesy of American collector Richard H Driehaus (sadly no longer with us) who’s art collection was so extensive that he hung part of it in the Bonham hotel. But the atmosphere is far from pretentious; almost all the people who work here are friendly and helpful and easy-going, especially those who inhabit the front desk. This wonderful hotel is actually beyond our pay grade, but what it offers is so impressive compared with its cheaper counterparts that we can never countenance staying anywhere else.

Just one single thing jarred. The hotel has started piping music into its public rooms, and it’s far too loud and (subjectively) the wrong sort. Gentle jazz or blues, or cocktail-lounge piano music played at low level might be okay, but not the hard-edged rap and hip-hop that made itself felt one evening, and was completely at odds with the uber-relaxing feel that pervades the hotel. Next time I’ll be packing my speaker-wire cutters, just in case!

The Bonham is a beautiful hotel on a a quiet, leafy street but still close to everything. We found an open short term parking spot out front when we checked in and amazingly there was parking out back where we left our car for the duration of our stay. The staff was unbelievably accommodating, treating us like were were at a hotel costing twice as much, including thoughtfully providing for our special needs which we described when booking, being flexible on the timing of afternoon tea, and storing our bags and delivering them to our rooms when they came available. We also enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the hotel; both the food and service impressed. The room itself felt spacious and was very well appointed, full size toiletries including conditioner in the bathroom, and a very comfy bed.

Everything about the hotel, including the parking situation, was fantastic. Traffic getting around Edinburgh, though, was very slow going no matter when we were out, early or late.

The Hotel is in an excellent position, very central and it is easy from there to reach all the main attractions in the city centre. The suite we booked was huge and the living room just stunning with a wonderful view on the square in front of the Hotel. We were impressed by the wonderful Christmas decorations in the common areas, and even more by the Christmas tree we found in our suite. That was so very special. The Hotel has impressive pieces of art from the private collection of the owner, and as an overall we found the Bonham a beautiful Hotel in a lovely area of the New Town. We will surely be back again.

Everything was just perfect.

Our stay at the Bonham was a gift to us from family to celebrate a special birthday, and when we said this at reception we were given two complimentary vouchers for a glass of bubbly at the bar, by a lovely young chap Alex ,whose hospitality service was excellent. Every single member of staff we met were all very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you .Our room on the 4th floor had an excellent view, and the room was absolutely beautiful .The location of the hotel is a seven minute walk to Princes street. We would like to return there in the near future.

We were a bit disappointed with one of our meals on Saturday night, my husbands steak was not cooked to his liking ,so he had to send it back, and even then it still wasn't to his liking ,but my meal was excellent. The lovely waitress was apologetic to us and offered to reduce our bill ,which we really weren't looking for, but she handled the situation very well. We would not let this put us off ever staying there again ,as our breakfast in the morning was excellent. All the staff at this hotel are a credit to the Bonham.

Smaller room, but no problem, and had a great view out to sea. Hotel beautifully decorated, and the communal areas (bar and breakfast room) were comfortable and attractive. Staff all very helpful. We were relieved to find a space in their car park for the duration of our stay. A bit out of town, but nice and quiet and really not far from George Street. Shame the restaurant wasn't running when we were there, though we had bar food on our first night which was good enough.

Everything was great.

A warm welcome at reception. Lovely room with loads of character and excellent facilities. Very effective heating both in the bedroom itself and the bathroom. Wonderful views over the south of Edinburgh plus the Firth of Forth visible in the distance. Tremendous location (a quiet and upmarket neighbourhood only 5 minutes from Princes Street).

The breakfast inclusive rate seemed to have the continental breakfast only included. This was good but the choices were a bit sparse. I was asked towards the end of breakfast if I wanted toast. Sadly that was too late for my schedule.

In a very quiet and clean neighborhood, the room is soundproof and quiet. It is a very British-style exquisite hotel. The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic. Our room rate includes breakfast, and the a la carte is very good! The hotel laid out a small bed for my little daughter before we checked in, and prepared delicate biscuits thoughtfully. This is the most comfortable and satisfying stay we have lived in the UK for one month. It is great value for money and highly recommended!
