The Bonham is classic elegance and charm. The facilities have had transitions throughout the years (even was a maternity residence at one time), and now it welcomes visitors from all over the world. The street is close to many attractions, for example, heading to Edinburgh Castle is around fifteen to twenty-minute walk, and the neighborhoods are so pretty. The breakfast is excellent. The one thing we'll point out is that the hotel had a 'lift' (elevator) problem. The floors are steep (the first floor alone is fifty-five-BIG-steps), so our room was ninety-nine-steps up to the fourth floor. Good workout ! What was impressive was watching their dedicated staff place three (3) of our fifty-pound suitcases on their shoulders and hoisting them up the four floors. They were positive and genuinely sweet as they accomplished this task. The owners gave us a few drinks, "on-the-house," to help us with our stair workout, and we considerate and kind. Photos are the views from our fourth-floor hotel room and Edinburgh Castle.

I didn't like that the lift was out and their repair person was taking their time. The hotel was constantly in contact with the repair people and I'm certain they were quite frustrated with the numerous complaints about climbing stairs. (We were only concerned about luggage and felt it a good workout).

Short walk from New Town, lovely authentic charm, good size room , easy parking on property

Initially being put in basement room and being told that the hotel was full!, staff lied or tried to deceive us at first though Booking.com suggested otherwise. Once moved we were very happy, if you want a view don’t accept basement rooms.

Great location; third-floor room was very comfortable with a beautiful view over the Firth of Forth to Fife. The Smart TV, meant I could catch up with Wimbledon in the evening. Shower over the bath is a bit out-dated and awkward for older guests; generous range of shower gels and shampoos.

Stayed here a few times now and the Front of House staff seem to lack any sort of warmth compared to the rest of the hotel staff who seem to be a bit more upbeat and 'guest-centric.' Disappointed that the restaurant was not open on a Wednesday night but enjoyed a light dinner in the bar; breakfast tray was a bit lacking i.e. no plate to put the toast on!

Perfect location for West End and Castle. Beautiful hotel. Nice Walled Garden bathroom products. Smart staff. Towelling bathrobes lovely. Didn't use slippers. Comfortable clean bed.

Bath towels could do with renewing as a bit grey & rough. Bath had a long hair in it. Brown bits (rust) coming out of taps on every bath. Staff are so intent on getting everything perfect, they've forgotten the most important part, smiling & friendly chatter. Same pillow cases & sheets for 3 nights. Room too warm but turned off radiator & opened windows, much more comfortable. Room 107 is at back of property so unfortunately we had the sound of rubbish disposal early mornings.

Breakfast was amazing and the hotel itself is lovely and quiet with great views but the best experience was that with its staff. They were friendly, prompt, and just the loveliest people at all times morning and night.

Honestly no complaints. I got to experience three great rooms - extended my stay twice - and the beds, pillows, decor and water pressure were perfect and the same regardless of the moves - the only notice was that the last two rooms had stronger wifi than the first but it still worked well including for video and that’s par for the course at any location.

Everything about the hotel was fabulous from the minute we got there the staff were so attentive from opening the door on arrival to carrying bags on our departure. The room was beautiful with coffee machine, tea, hot chocolate, biscuits and chocolates on the pillow. Great bathroom with a powerful shower, plenty of toiletries and bath robes and slippers. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice both hot and cold food available. We stayed for 3 nights but mid week so were unable to try the restaurant which gives us a perfect excuse to go back again. .

There was nothing we didn't like

Everything. The customer service was outstanding. The Gentleman who was at reception is amazing , helpful, polite, knowledgeable, went beyond expectations. Tye breakfast wow beautiful presentation and so much value for money. Love the little treats left on the bed eg chocolate and biscuits. Also on arrival at the hotel the mincepies and water with lemon was very nice. Definitely going to tell others and would stay at the Bonham again and again. The staff in the breakfast area are so helpful and polite and one could tell that they love what they do. The hot chocolate is a must have.

Honestly everything was beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful property! Decorated so nicely for the holidays as well. Spacious rooms. Great bar as well and beautiful dining room for breakfast.

Very minor few things. Though the beds were nice, our pillows were hard. Not a problem for one night but it would have become an issue had we stayed longer. We very much wanted to see the Christmas market and staff was kind enough to give us walking directions, mentioning that it closed at 10. When we arrived however, we were refused entry just before 9. We walked a bit and found some nice food anyway. Breakfast at the hotel is very expensive, though good. Again, very minor issues and we enjoyed our stay!

Absolutely beautiful! Classic Victorian style hotel. Beautiful room and amenities. Easy walk from station where we used the tram to and from airport. Easy walking to most things. Breakfast is amazing! Fresh flowers all over…nice attention to detail. Comfy bed! Great bathtub and shower. Bluetooth speaker is a nice touch. Netflix television. Really awesome hotel!

My only comment is we booked a superior king and received a lesser room although they insisted it was the room we booked. After showing the pictures on booking of the room we booked and the pictures of the lesser value room, we received the room we booked. They said booking.com made the mistake showing the wrong rooms. However I see others have complained about the same thing happening. We paid over $400 a night—we purposely treated ourselves and were not settling. Look on their website the room mix up was not booking.com’s fault. The staff were great and gave us the correct room but just beware as this seems to be a “thing.” (Bait and switch) otherwise an AMAZING hotel!

Welcoming ambience (provided by soft classical music from the radio) was a nice touch when first entering into the room! Spacious and quiet (Room 110) junior suite, on first floor but also handy lift access (though we didn’t really need it). Room decor and design very relaxing and thoughtful. Beautiful tall ceiling. Dyson tower cool fan discretely standing in the room was helpful. We also like the fluffy robes, towels, and nice quality toiletries provided. Delicious breakfast! Staff helpful and welcoming. Thanks!!

Nothing not to like… we could get too used to having Prosecco at breakfast and the complimentary whiskey in our room!
