The reception was warm and friendly, the room had a spectacular view of the castle and the town, the location is second-to-none. The room was spacious and had everything required. The bed was soft, but extremely comfortable and breakfast, which was cooked to order at a time of my choosing, was delicious. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I did not like that the divan of the bed was badly stained.

We liked that it was close to the centre and close to lots of walks. We have been to Richmond a number of times and always love visiting. First time staying at The Buck Inn. It's very friendly, a local pub type feel. The Inn is just round the corner from lots of other pubs and restaurants. From our window, we could see the castle, the churches, and the Tower of Culloden. Beautiful views. The room was great, everything you need. Kettle, coffee, tea. Bathroom essentials and a hairdryer. The room was warm and cosy. We would definitely stay here again.

The only downside for us was the bed. It looks and feels a bit tired. Way too soft for me, but everyone's different.

Nice friendly staff and locals .Made to feel welcome, and the dog was spoilt with treats and tickles. Breakfast was very tasty and the dog enjoyed his breakfast sausage too. Also went for food at the sister pub The Turf - lovely food and friendly staff and customers. Nice to be able to take the dog on holiday and to feel so comfortable.

Parking was OK just a bit of a pain that the area has parking disc restrictions so you only get 2 hours free parking during the day and would have to keep moving your car. The parking is ok from 6pm to 8am. It can be overcome if you go and pay to park on a pay and display car park for the day and just use the disc for the morning from 8am to 10am. It may be busier in peak season but wouldn't put us off going again - the pub can't be blamed for the parking situation.

Staff friendly and helpful. Beds were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. We also had a great meal at the sister pub, The Turf, which was very good value even before we were given 10% off as guests. Would stay here again. A useful base to explore Richmond and a short drive (10-15 minutes) to Yorkshire Wedding Barns.

Showers weren’t marvellous, but it’s an old building and I expect water pressure limitations were at play here! Daytime parking was a bit of a pain (disc zone), but this is the council’s issue, not the property’s.

We managed to park right outside the pub- which was a bonus and the landlady explained the town parking situation to us straight away, to avoid getting a ticket. The pub was very lively when we arrived, possibly due to it being 'mad' Friday, but we couldn't hear anything from the room. We had to climb 2 flights of stairs for our room, which wasn't a problem for us, but might be worth bearing in mind if you are not too mobile. The view out of the window over the town and castle was fantastic. Breakfast the next day was nice- full English, cereals, toast (lots of) and tea / coffee. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

My room was spotless clean, bed perfect for me-not too firm, not too soft. Nice decor . Couldn’t have find a more convenient spot if I’d tried and the price was amazing for Richmond. Breakfast was superb and kept me going well past lunchtime. The hosts were super friendly but not nosey, even gave me a parking disc as parking by the hotel was disc parking. I will certainly return and would not hesitate to recommend.

In a perfect world - a spare blanket, I like a weightier quilt and the outside light made me think it was morning when it wasn’t. Tiny and picky I know and next time I will either ask or bring my own as I now know I need it. I didn’t go down and ask as the bed was too comfy so I didn’t want to leave it.

Loved the rooms although a bit more attention to detail could be made e.g. blind wasn't working, room 5 had no hooks or unit to put things on in the bathroom even though there was space. Everything was clean in the rooms and pub in general. The staff were absolutely great, so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcomed.

The pub overall has a very cluttered appearance, feeling very lived in so a bit more could be done in the first reception room which feels more like a back/staff room. This was a minor thing though.

Character little pub in the centre of town, I had room 6 upstairs so no noise at all, overlooking the castle. Friendly staff and good guest interaction, plenty of room , great bed and everything you need.Come and go as you please (keys) Centrally located for hiking/touring a great museum of the prestigious Green Howards regiment is a must for anyone’s itinerary. Overall I had a smashing 2 nights the only concern I had was the kettle was in need of a descale but that’s just cosmetic. I would definitely visit again and thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to visit the area. Best wishes Kevin O’Neill

There is plenty of parking around the inn but it is controlled by the North Yorkshire council and you have to move your car every 2 hours during the day to avoid fines, however wardens are very helpful (rare)

We enjoyed our stay. The Buck is centrally located on a nice street in Richmond. Just a short walk to the town square and castle. Staff were friendly and professional. Room a nice large size and I must also note the huge TV! Everything clean and working well. Enjoyed breakfast in the bar downstairs, which we pre-ordered the night before via an efficient system. Overall excellent value for money and would happily stay again.

Nothing.

We had a great relaxing stay at The Buck, the staff were brilliant, breakfast was awesome, was such a quirky pub/hotel, our dog Barry was also welcome, all in all we had a great stay, we tried to book an extra day but the hotel had no availability but we were told to try their sister hotel just around the corner called The Turf, which was just the same, very clean and comfy, brilliant staff and a breakfast served up by the fantastic Sue the chef (great character).

We had nothing not to like.
