The location was magical and our drive through the Dales was one of the best we've had. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. The hotel itself was beautiful, as was the village and nearby Aysgarth Falls. Plenty of parking space, offloading and loading is possible by the entrance door, otherwise it's a bit of a trek from the rear carpark. Superb range of local beers on draught. A very enjoyable stay, which we'll look forward to repeating.

Shower over the bath was a bit of a dribble and not ideal for two old wrecks like us. No aircon, but that was not expected in such a traditional building and setting, take a fan with you if it's a heatwave.

This is our 12th(!) stay at the Wheatsheaf - we absolutely love it. A great location in a beautiful little village, and a good base for exploring further afield - plus lots of scenic walks. The rooms at the Inn are clean and very comfortable, the breakfasts are excellent and will set you up for the day, and I would recommend trying the meals as they are just so tasty! The steak pie is a favourite, and the fish and chips are just delicious - but do book as it can get very busy. We've stayed at many hotels and Inns in the UK - some hugely expensive ones too, but for us, the Wheatsheaf is up there among the very best, which is why we keep returning!

Nothing!

Extremely welcoming staff (without crowding you); very friendly and helpful. Superb quality of food- we chose to eat their every night and breakfasts were great too. Good range of vegetarian, fish and meat dishes including local ingredients. I also liked the choice of local drinks. We stayed from Wednesday to Sunday and the rooms were serviced well everyday. Excellent location, lots of nearby attractions plus walks directly on the doorstep. Plenty of car parking. Liked the fact that although the tables outside are right next to the road, in the evening the road is really quiet and it is a nice spot to sit and have a drink.

Nothing that could be helped really without soundproofing- the walls and doors are thin so you do hear people in the next room and we were at the front of the building so heard traffic early in the morning but it wasn't a lot just a few tractors, trailers and cars. Our twin room was pretty full once we added cases and bags so it would have been better to have beds with storage space underneath. We had considered taking our greyhound with us but were glad we didn't, as the public rooms are only really big enough for small to medium dogs (without causing an obstruction!). It would have been nice if the specials board changed more often but that's being picky!

You can really tell why they say Yorkshire is Gods own county... the area is stunning. Parking is directly behind the pub and there is plenty space. A genuine warm welcome from the young lady behind the bar who checked us in and made sure we had all the info we needed with no rush. The room was spacious and clean with good quality furnishings. Nice towels and toiletries provided. All the staff were polite and friendly. The food is very good, beware, jam sponge in the evening was delivered straight from a volcano ! Plenty of seating both inside and out.

Creaky floors, i supose are to be expected. We were in a room above the kitchen so a bit of noise early on. Would have been nice to be offered extra toast with breakfast.

I have stayed at The Wheatsheaf on 3 seperate occasions and everytime i feel welcomed. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble there is a variety of food avaliable for breakfast dinner or a lunch time bite, all of which is delicious and great portion sizes. Location is absolutely perfect for sight seeing. we had 2 nights stay and saw so much of the surrounding beautiful countryside

unfortunately the bed was too small for us, a double seems a little old fashioned now, and so not a great nights sleep. my husband is of average build as too am i however just a little too squashed up together.

It’s lovely location for the Yorkshire dales. Really near the waterfalls at Aysgarth . And near Leyburn and Hawes. Good for walking beautiful scenery. Food was lovely and friendly staff. Room was cold first night so I mentioned it and they put an extra blanket and small heater in our room. Clean and breakfast nice.

Room was cold first night but it was rectified for second night. TV a tad on small side for size of room. But that’s just me I do like a TV that is big. And I know people will think you don’t go to watch TV but on a night after a day out enjoying the countryside and after a few drinks and good food it’s nice just to go up to the room and switch of by watching a bit of TV. Everybody’s different.

Lovely Yorkshire full English breakfast, best we have had in a long time,my wife was able to get gluten free bread etc and a GF menu, evening meals were exceptional for the price, all very friendly staff,Had a small accident and they were great I'm helping with first aid bandages etc, would definitely recommend and visit again if in that part of the world

Would like to have know who the actual owners were if they were working while we were there The shower tray in our room was quite slippery could have done with a mat

Breakfast was lovely and staff were very accommodating for my 2 year old and myself being pregnant and having food aversion. We also had dinner on one of the nights. Food was lovely and served in good time. We were attending a wedding at castle bolton which was a 5 minute drive away - if you do need supplies then stop off in nearby Leyburn as there isn't much in terms of shops nearby!

We stayed in the annexe which was lovely however the bathroom could maybe do with updating

Excellent pub with room an amazing staff and great location. In a quieter part of Wensleydale that those in the main road but only a mile or so walk across fields and in woodland to Aysgarth Falls. 2 1/2 miles to Castle Bolton across fields too. Very friendly staff. Very helpful throughout. Good value evening meals and sensibly priced wine list. Comfortable residents’ lounge was very convivial after dinner. Very welcoming of our dog.

Due to the age of the building, our room was a bit small, but fine for a couple of nights.

An absolutely superb stay here on a week long tour of the area. Super comfortable beds and well equipped rooms. Staff were all friendly and efficient through bars and restaurant. A snug/lounge area is nice and ample seating outside on picnic tables to enjoy the evening early summer. A very good evening meal raises any rating for here as it nicely gives restaurant quality and certainly not bar food. Well done ... 👏

Nothing to make comment on. A very enjoyable stay in an excellent country inn.
