The woman on duty in the late afternoon of our arrival was terrific in welcoming us. The accommodation was terrific with a quiet view, away from the road just watching sheep graze. Our wine and dinner service was prompt and the food was fabulous.....the best venison I have ever eaten....and I come from Maine in the U.S. where there is alot of venison. Just great.....fresh berries in the gravy with venison. Congratulations. Jerry & Lois Kirschenbaum. My only suggestion is that you add a second bannister to the back stairways to aid disabled people....they really need two bannisters.

Staff are just amazing, very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is equally amazing, freshly cooked and so tasty. I would go a long way out of my way just to eat! The whole place is very clean and well presented with almost everything been as good as it possibly could be. I look forward to staying again.
The only thing that a can't give full marks for is the facilities, but only by the fact that there is no USB charging point by the bed. It is a small thing and almost not worth mentioning but an easy fix and so convenient.

We stayed at the Wyvill a couple of years ago and decided to return this month to celebrate my partner's birthday. It was all as we remembered from the last time. The food, drink and accommodation were wonderful. The staff really made us welcome, especially Ned, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. At the end of dinner we were also treated to an improvised birthday 'cake' and a chorus of 'Happy Birthday' from the staff! We will be back next year to celebrate my birthday!
I have nothing negative to say.

Absolutely outstanding . i liked every single bit of my stay. especially the owner and the staff. They were very very humble, kind and helpful. The sweetest was Lisa ( one night i had an Asthma attack in the middle of the night and didn’t bring my inhaler, so she insisted to help and drove all the way to her home and brought me two Inhalers from her house although she was working hard all day and was rapping up at the restaurant) Nigel the owner was the best owner ( he cooks the delicious food too and he makes an unbelievably tasty desserts). The rooms are wide and Very clean and smells good and very peaceful and calm to sleep in. great views around.
Not a single bad thing.

The service, staff, rooms, food and overall stay. Ned was fantastic, very friendly, funny and doing a great job of looking after the customers. The room was large, decorated tastefully with a very comfortable bed and a lovely shower. The breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice.
There were no negative points, I would love to return for a stay as soon as I can. The owner is the chef and he is doing a great job of running the place.

it is a lovely quirky property, in a good central location to explore the area. Bedrooms were very clean over looking fields and countryside. All staff were pleasant and polite but Ned is a gem, he makes everyone feel like his favourite customer and nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent both at the evening meal and breakfast.
We found the mattress to be uncomfortable, but this is personal taste.

Ned the waiter was excellent, he went over and above to make our stay comfortable. Look after him, he is a great asset. Room 2 was wonderful. Being 6ft 4 tall, it was great to have a big bed with sumptuous bedding. Walk in shower was also fantastic.
Why is the wifi code a secret to be uncovered? A lot of hotels/gust houses have this issue. Put it on a sign in the rooms? Every guest needs it these days, so why do we have to go through the rigmarole of discovering it? No bottled water in the room. The toilet was reluctant to flush (Room 2) We had Lamb Shank for dinner which had no colour, rather unappealing to look at, otherwise lovely.

I dropped my fiance off at the hotel as we were due to be married the following day. When I carried her case into the room, I was very disappointed. Disappointed that I was not going to be staying there that night. Due to my job, I stay at a lot of hotels both in Great Britain and abroad, and this room was the best I have ever seen. My wife said the following day that the quality of the hotel and room were excellent, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They even extended the departure time to allow her more time to prepare for the wedding. We live only eighteen miles away from the hotel but I am tempted to spend at least one night there as a couple. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues.
Apparently, the make-up mirror was not big enough and the dressing table chair was a bit too low. Not an issue for most people I would imagine, but she wanted her make-up to be flawless. And it was.
