Although we didn’t see much of it due to late arrival and getting away straight after breakfast, the place looked lovely and nice surroundings. Breakfast was spot on and can tell it’s locally sourced products. The hotel staff can’t do enough for you and will go out of there way to help you and make you feel welcome and happy. Also a large car park right next to the property helped, our other friends staying in different places struggled with parking.
The creaky bed every time one of us turned over the whole thing creaked like it was going to go through, and the floorboards could do with a few extra screws to stop those creaking. We came back late in the night from a wedding and feel like your disturbing other guests because the floorboards was so creaky.

The room was exceptional. Warm and welcoming. Beautifully decorated with a comfy sofa and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was sparkling clean and the shower? Easily the best shower I've ever used! Our room had a small terrace with seating which was lovely. Breakfast was included in the price and there were lots of tasty options. Be warned, portion sizes are more than ample! We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was faultless, it really was. As with the breakfast, the portions are more than ample and our food was cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble and they work together like a real team delivering high standards with a ready smile. We will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.
It would be churlish to complain about something that the staff had no control over but sometime during the night the weather turned unseasonably warm. In most places it wouldn't have made much difference but here the duvets are so good that we struggled to sleep. We solved the problem by keeping the terrace doors open through the night.

The exterior of the hotel is deceiving but once you get in and are greeted with a warm and friendly front of house which is Ned you feel right at home and it is then like Mary Poppins bag, there is just more and more. This is a our second visit to the hotel and yet again we were not disappointed, this time we stayed in room 7 which is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are spacious, clean and very well equipped and decorated. The bathroom was huge with an amazing shower and everything you need was provided. This is a family run hotel - brother (chef) and mum and sister look after the hotel they are all very friendly and happy to chat and you can tell that they have so much pride in their premises. We would highly recommend The Wyvill Arms and will be back to visit again around Christmas time.
There was nothing we didn't like We did make a recommendation because the room was so spacious if you want to watch TV in bed it was hard to hear so we suggested maybe a speaker hidden close to the bed just in this room.

I was warmly welcomed to The Wyvill Arms, shown to a beautifully appointed room that was spotlessly clean. WiFi speed was spot on, important for someone working on the move! I decided to Dine-in and the food was stunning - perfectly cooked Hake was my choice, served on fresh and crispy Samphire, a great wine list and a fab selection of desserts prepared on site by the extremely capable and experienced chef. After a good night's sleep I was served a superb breakfast. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend it to others looking to stay in the area. The whole experience was great and I must say that the staff really took the time to engage with all their guests which is so welcome.

Unprepossessing property with a lovely spacious, warm and comfortable bedroom (room 7) with some wonderful furnishings and a large bathroom with an amazing shower. Our room had a private seating area outside. The food (both dinner and breakfast) was of a very good quality and it was excellently prepared by a chef who clearly enjoys cooking. Portions were generous and the prices very reasonable. Staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Easy to get to from the A1.....we stopped off en route from Scotland to London and there is lovely countryside round about.
Dining rooms were a bit on the dark side, but it was rather dull weather when we visited!

I worked in customer service for many years and am often disappointed by the service I receive. But honestly, I was blown away by the service I received at the Wyvill Arms. In particular I would like to mention Ned, who displayed some of the best customer service I have ever experienced anywhere. He was just incredible, warm and friendly and going above and beyond to make me comfortable and happy, you could tell it really mattered to him that customers were well looked after. My pre-booked taxi to the event didn't turn up in the morning and Ned drove me to the event! All of the staff were lovely and the room was a higher standard than I had expected and very comfortable. Breakfast was included and I think for the quality of service and accomodation it was very good value.
I ate dinner there and they made an affort to accomodate me with as a vegan. The food was OK but the best thing was you could see they were really trying to get it right for me and they were really open to feedback which I really appreciate. I had a decent vegan friendly cooked breakfast in the morning too.

Room was spacious & immaculately clean. Fabulous bathroom with large walk in shower. Front of house staff/owners were very welcoming . The food in the restaurant was fabulous . Special shout out to the guy who attended our table he was so pleasant you would think we had been going for years not our first visit. Also the young girl who served us was delightful . The breakfast was also very good.
Nothing really . Only a couple of niggles I would have like to have a pre dinner drink in the Bar before the meal but the area seemed to be more set up for bar meals. The restaurant lacked atmosphere it was a Saturday but there were only four couples dining there. But must say it did not distract from a lovely stay.

The Wyvill is a little taste of luxury, and a little touch of heaven, if you like a peaceful break this is for you. Couldn't have asked for more. Great food, Staff couldn't have been nicer. Especially Ned the front of house, Barman, Waiter, nothing was to much trouble for him. The room we stayed in was fabulous, 4 poster bed, very comfortable. In the middle of no where, just a small village, so peaceful.Would definatley go back again. We drove around the dales, views were spectacular, Lots of places of interest not to far away
Nothing!!

The room was comfortable, clean, warm, and large. Staff were very attentive. The food was lovely and hot. Like the consistency of staff, very friendly made you feel welcome.
There wasn't anything I didn't like but would have liked different vegi food options. When I mentioned this on our leaving Nigel, the owner said he could make whatever I like if I visit again. Could also do with peas on the steak pie and chips option. Nothing was too much trouble.

Beautiful property in a stunning location. The interior design was gorgeous and the bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. The place was well maintained and clean to the highest standard. The food was professional throughout, heartwarming, very tasty, excellent presentation, delivered and devoured with total satisfaction. All the staff were exceptional and made us feel very welcome and at home. Excellent family run business, I couldn’t fault a single thing.
