Very clean and nice grounds

No fridge in the room. No complimentary water in the room. Windows are screwed down shut. Wanted £20 for early check in even though our room was ready and we were 50 minutes early so we declined which wasn’t a good first impression.

I enjoyed the quiet location and spacious grounds. My room was comfortable and spacious. The Café was where I went for dinner and the food was good and bad. The Sea Bass meal was good whereas my meal the night before not so good.

For a 4 Star location I was disappointed with a few details which are: my 1st meal just didn't taste great and the sweet potato chips were quite greasy, the roller blind in room 27 is tatty, the nice new double glazed window cannot be locked shut and therefore keeps opening. Finally the tea and coffee selection had not been renewed on arrival. On day two of my stay it had been serviced and there was a full selection of teas, coffee and sugars etc.

We loved the gardens on arrival. Then we found how lovely the staff were, every single time we spoke to a staff member they were so very pleasant and helpful..especially Rosie on reception. But the cleaning ladies and restaurant and spa ladies were all equally as lovely...honestly I wish more hotels took their warm friendly helpful approach and were less snooty. The restaurant was so very pretty and the breakfast outstanding along with the service. The Elemis spa was a peaceful retreat also for us and we loved it and once again the staff member was so helpful and kind. I couldn't find any individual changing rooms though which would be the only thing I missed especially as the changing facilities are quite small. The guest rooms were very clean and adequate and fresh and modern.... The setting and gardens when you arrive and the reception staff and also the breakfast and breakfast room decor and its staff, and it wouldnt be right not to include the Elemis spa and it's staff are what made Orsett Hall such a pleasurable stay..thank you all!

No separate changing rooms in the Elemis Spa. Otherwise it was perfect! Probably the best Spa iv been too in the South East. A small venue, but mostly perfectly adequate. I would definitely go back. The tranquility there is wonderful!

Rooms overlooking the front garden are simply magnficent and with aircon too. Bathrooms impressive in terms of size and practicality. Was expecting a bit of noise as per the hotel's own warning as they host functions, but it was quiet. Good room service and excellent club sandwich.

Ordered a Kraken rum with Mexican soda lime to my room with my evening meal. Bar informed me that they didn't have soda lime, but had lime cordial- i said yes, but not sure what exactly I got-it really wasn't tasty. Was also not very keen on the internal rooms on my second stay

My room and bathroom were a fantastic size, included breakfast was really lovely. I liked being out in the country - but as someone who didn't have a car - it wouldn't be the easiest to get too/from for a longer than a 2-night stay (I was there for a wedding, so didn't have much need to leave).

The wifi was not good. don't know if it's because of where my room was, but luckily I was there for social reasons and not for work, so it wasn't a huge hassle. I wish the room had a small refrigerator for beverages.

We were 2 woman just wanting a night away. First room was small for a twin but we were moved to a nice size room. We walked around the grounds the next day and this was nice and spent some time in the coffee/bar shop/restuarant. Breakfast in our room was really good and we didn't mind paying £5 for the luxury of that.

We ate in the fish restaurant, the food was good but the restaurant was soulless. I would prefer to go offsite for dinner next time. There wasn't many guests eating in their and the area was too big to fill. Would be good to have a communal bar open in the hotel, we sat in a quite room on our own and were served by the night staff after 10 pm. We were unable to get into the spa area the next day before 4 pm but we had to be out of our room by 11 and worked in my room on the day of arrival until 6 pm. If we had known when we booked 8 weeks before, we would have booked a treatment.

The staff were a stand out for me. They were all so welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The reception team were informative and responsive to my requests. The setting itself is lovely. Green grounds, the room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The food was excellent. I treated myself to breakfast in bed twice, always on time, good quality products and tasty. I also ate in one of the on-site restaurants. Again, delicious! The spa was small but a lovely retreat, and the staff were friendly, flexible with changing my booking time, and very welcoming. Prior to arriving I was informed a wedding was happening so there may be some noise. I didn't hear a thing unless I actually walked by the function room. It was a lovely peaceful break, and I would definitely visit again. Thank you to the team at the hotel.

Location and venue was excellent Evening dinner and breakfast the following day was also excellent Staff efficient and friendly SPA was good but limited in availablility with regards treatments

We were not advised that we would have to book for an afternoon tea in the hotel which was dissapointing as we would have loved to have enjoyed the tea. We were able to use the SPA facilities but no treatments were available and therefore we were not given a robe, we were told there were no lockers so would have to walk through the hotel in our swimwear and then wrap a towel around us for the walk back to our room. Not ideal for middle aged people to be parading around half dressed, very dissapointed

Everything, great building and grounds and having a cafe on site was a bonus. Staff were very helpful and happy, plenty of parking and rooms were fabulous.

I thought the 50 pounds a day taken on my card (100) was a bit unnecessary as I had to wait for the credit after checkout. I am fine with taking my card number for anything that I may put on the room which really should be sufficient. I still had to pay for what I did put on the room even thought they had taken the 100 pounds then wait for the credit, I find this strange.

Goats cheese salad was really good, one of the best salads I have eaten in a long time. Moved table three times first was under the speaker, second was by a slightly open window and was too cold then we sat near the lift not ideal but ok. My colleague has morning sickness and the bar staff adapted her meal which was hugely appreciated and really helpful. Room was excellent.

If I had to be picky… Lighting in the bar too bright, TV too rowdy, signs to the gym were wrong and gym was not marked so I spent 15 mins walking around trying to find it.
