The staff are great especially the breakfast staff. The hotel is quaint and old school. The grounds are beautiful. Cobble stones , flowers, sculptures etc. Lots of space to walk and relax in and little nooks that are ideal for photos. There is a tiny chapel in the grounds for weddings which is really special. Easy access to rooms and grounds for disabled guests too. Calm and quiet even though it's close to the motorway and easy to find. The breakfast is cooked to order and really nice. Plenty of choice including for those with gluten allergies and vegetarians. Rooms are basic but clean and well maintained. Good size TV in rooms with lots of channels. Great value for money and lovely place to relax in. The setting and views make it way nicer than the other Gretna hotels. This one has plenty of charm. Children are also made welcome and will enjoy exploring the gardens.
The WiFi signal in our room wasn't great but to be honest we didn't really care about it so we didn't bother to mention it to staff. We just enjoyed our stay here a lot.

Breakfast was excellent, quick service, good food and pleasant breakfast room. Staff very good
Whilst the evening meal was acceptable there was a staff problem, The location caters for weddings and attention was quite rightly on the wedding party. My wife and I ordered wine with our meal but were told by the young waitress that she was too young to even take our order and we must go to the bar and get it ourselves. When the wedding group had finished eating the staff cleared away and moved all the tables in the room adjoining the dining room - by dragging them across the floor so conversation was impossible. My wife had to ask them to pick things up rather than drag them

The welcome was warm. Room was pleasant with a very comfortable bed. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very nice and provided a good service. Our breakfast was excellent and the lady taking orders and serving was very efficient and friendly.
Whilst having our mèal and drinks two guests (workmen representing a company with two small vans marked CMM or something similar)were having a very loud conversation and the language was very foul. I was going to ask them to cease but my wife preferred that I didn't get in to any confrontation. But I feel that the staff should have taken that decision and they were much closer than us and must have heard it.

The room was excellent with everything that was needed. The towels and bed linen were of good quality.
We had dinner which was very mediocre. My partner had a chicken dish which was very poor indeed. The Chicken was dry and very little sauce and the haggis which should have been wrapped in the chicken was just slapped on top. Also the potatoes were tasteless. My dessert which was supposed to be Sticky Toffee pudding and custard was certainly not made on the premises. The sponge was certainly not a proper Sticky Toffee sponge as it was white inside. The custard was either out of a box or a tin and not made from scrach! The food might be suitable for people who are not used to freshly made food and want something simple.

Beautiful location. Grounds are so cute and very much cater for wedding photos. Rooms are motel style and comfortable and adequate size for short stay. Very quiet and quaint about 1 and half miles from village of Kirkpatrick-Fleming.Beds comfortable and plenty of very, very hot water. Breakfast was OK. Bar and restaurant were lovely. Staff were exceptional, so friendly, helpful and professional. Food was delicious and plentiful. Barman was super friendly made us feel very welcome.
No socket near the bed for charging phones etc. WiFi was terrible, practically non existent, I got 12mbs speed at best. Not good if you need to keep in touch. One of the bedside lights flickered and made a buzzing noise. Sounded dangerous.,kept it switched off. (rm26) Radiators get absolutely raging hot! Take care, there seems to be off or very hot. Hot water boiling. Unable to just wash your hands without filling sink. No fruit available at breakfast. Coffee was in a flask and was just warm. Fried egg wasn't fully cooked and poached egg was overcooked. Bit disappointing.

The location & setting of this hotel is just perfect. Check in was very quick, lovely knowledgeable receptionist. The room had everything we needed. Shower was great. We had dinner the night of arrival which was delicious and a very warm greeting from staff. Food was delicious. Breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. The setting for this hotel is picture perfect.
The only faults I could find was the room walls are very thin. We could literally here every word our neighbour was saying. Just shortly after midnight both my husband and I were woken by the neighbours snoring which was horrendous. We didn't get a wink of sleep and ended up going for breakfast as soon as we could so we could leave for our next hotel to get some rest.

A lovely reception area and shop. The staff so welcoming, friendly and helpful.Plenty of parking and well set out accommodation. The rooms were clean, a comfortable bed plus tv and hot drinks provided. The bathroom was adequate and had lovely thick towels . Menus provided for dinner and breakfast plus information about The Mill Forge's history. Plenty of outdoor space and areas of interest. As it provides marriage facilities, there is a chapel in a lovely setting for photographs. There is a bar and dining area providing lunches and evening meals. Again the, staff very friendly and efficient.
The breakfast was disappointing. The staff were excellent, friendly, polite, and efficient .However, the water for tea was in a flask as was the coffee. This meant the tea was not boiling hot and neither was the coffee. No fresh fruit or yogurts.Adequate cooked breakfasts.

Everything, the staff were fantastic, the location was perfect and the rooms were lovely. The food and drink prices were really good, we had our evening meal and it was delicious and huge! We didn't go for a wedding, but can see why others do. The place is such good value and I actually think it is amazing in the warmer months.
The room was cold for me, but I am a soft southerner, we turned the radiators up but found it a long time to even get a little warm. The WiFi wasn't brilliant. These are so minor things it didn't spoil our stay but do know how it might for others.

The rooms were clean and a reasonable size. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. Due to traffic, we ran quite late, so we checked in at the bar. The barman knew what was happening and gave clear directions to our room, we were also able to get a nice meal. This hotel is a wedding venue, being very close to Gretna Green, and there were a few weddings conducted while we were there. It has some very nice photo opportunities around the premises. It is easily accessed from the M74.

Lovely place and very friendly helpful staff, room was very comfortable.
Only downfall room was extremely hot and the temperature control on the radiator was a bit dodgy. Had to leave windows open to cool the room down and all we could hear was the constant noise from the busy road outside. It would be nice if there was bottled water for filling the kettle, as the only option was to use the bathroom tap, which isn't ideal.
