i booked a superior room via the photo on your site and when arriving at the hotel the room was nowhere like the photo i went to reception and my booking form was shown to the manager of which wires had been crossed between the hotel and yourselves so to me i didnt get the room i booked in the picture the hotel was quite happy to move me to different room or to upgrade to a better room for a extra £15 per nite of which i said no both offers as i was not prepared to pack and start to unpack again i hope this will not happen again when i re book with booking .com as i use them quite a lot and if so they will loose my custom

Location was in the city centre. And the breakfast was great. It is a building with history, with decorations bringing you back to the Victoria Era. Some facilities might not be that modern because of that but overall are all good.

The car park was right behind the hotel but takes 6 mins extra drive to finally find it. And they need to have staff open the gate for you every time you leave/return. But the staff was timely on that. If you travel by car, make sure to ask the staff to give you the address of the car park instead of navigating to the front door.

The staff were excellent in every way. I was stressed when I arrived and they couldn't have been more helpful. I was greeted with a smile at breakfast, where service was prompt and courteous. I enjoyed the food. I commented that I loved the building, and the member of staff I spoke to shared my enthusiasm. All the staff were helpful, and I really appreciated this, so please could you thank them on my behalf?

I'm searching for something to say here! Minor repairs to the room; some rot to the window frame; I wrestled with the door till someone kindly showed me the knack of opening it...! None of this mattered, though. The atmos was good, the food was fine, the staff were lovely, so everything that mattered was there.

Fantastic location, food was very good & prices, even a small swimming pool and sauna 😀 which we used.

I think it needs to be made clear on your site that there is very limited parking as after traveling 5 hours and at 7pm to be told by one male member of staff who was very blunt he told us we would have to park else where, when we asked to have a look in the carpark which was gated for security as we could see three spaces, we were told there were for staff.He did eventually allow us to park in one which we were thankful for, although there apparently was a carpark near by that costs £6.50 which for a city is good we did say thank you but he wasn't very friendly,we can't say that about all the other staff they where great 👍

Clean, comfortable room in a central location. Didn't have breakfast....a little pricey , I thought. A nice touch was the daily room service....a thing of the past in some big hotel chains. Wifi was excellent throughout my stay.

The room was on the warm side during the recent hot spell. But that's the price you have to pay if you want warm weather. A little extra street lighting on the square outside might be a good idea. One or two dodgy characters out there after dark. But that's an issue for the local authority, not the hotel.

Hotel is in an excellent location right in the middle of the city centre. Easy access to shops, museums and historic sightsThe staff were very friendly and helpful on checking in. The room was very comfortable, small, but had everything we needed for a one night stay

No staff on reception on checking out next morning, had to wait a while till someone appeared as we had parked in the hotel carpark and needed a member of staff to unlock the gate. But all was sorted and we enjoyed our overnight stay in Carlisle.

I needed a centrally located hotel as I was travelling with my parents who would be without transport. The Crown & Mitre served this perfectly. It is clean, the staff were really good - friendly, helpful and made sure we all had what we needed. The rooms were of a good size and had what you need for a comfortable stay. Would return.

The hotel, whilst perfectly fine for a stay, is looking a little tired in places - the shower for example was very old. Still worked, but was old. I have nothing negative to state, just that it could benefit from some love in places.

Quirkiness. You'd go around a corner and there'd be a huge door with intricate door handles. I think the staff took pride in the hotel's antiquity. Very helpful staff. Very good shower in our room. Excellent breakfast.

Pouring with rain so a bit difficult to find. Staff very helpful in giving instructions. Whilst clean, the hotel's an old lady and does need some conservation NOT outright modernisation, although I was impressed by the electric fuel charging points available in the carpark. Reminded me of a maiden aunt needing a bit of a dust.

We we were on the Hadrians wall walk and based ourselves here for 4 nights with taxi to and from start/stop points Goo hotel with plenty of space Room size good Good shower and Bath size Had a spa so was most welcome Staff very friendly and food was very good

The place is a bit tired Lift wasn't working to our floor so after a hard days walking this was not appreciated. It had been broken for a long time. Carpets on the stairs were very worn Back in its day it was probably very luxurious

Central location. Easily walkable to most Carlisle amenities. Very classic and rustic feel.

A little bit grubby in places. The rooms are period correct however that doesn’t mean they don’t need to be fully cleaned, the carpets and bed and toilet and shower were all clean, however went to open the wardrobe and the whole door on the wardrobe and covered were sticky and there was a overwhelming smell I couldn’t quite put my finger on in the bathroom, it wasn’t disgusting, just something that wasn’t nice but quite overpowering.
