Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, super friendly and a pleasure to speak to. I needed some goats milk storing in the fridge for a few days and I was able to keep it in the kitchen fridge. I didn't have breakfast on either morning as I had to leave before it was served but I was offered a packed lunch which I accepted although I didn't see anyone on the Saturday morning to collect it. However, this was not a problem for me. The room was homely and I liked the automatic bathroom light. I had an evening meal which was lovely. Very dog friendly with a nice walk very close by.
I could not get BBC 1 or 2 on my TV, which I did tell a lady who was unaware of it. Toilet seat is in desperate need of oiling! It was difficult to get out of the shower cubicle as it was narrow and I didn't want to slip.

The room was lovely - I had noticed on other reviews that some people had said the décor was a bit "dated" - Well I loved it. The hotel had an old Victorian feel. I think it would be gorgeous and cosy in the winter. The staff were lovely , very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Best steak pie I've had in a long time. Portions were plenty. Breakfast was continental but plenty of everything. I'll definitely be back
The shower curtain was hung at a strange angle which made showering without the curtain sticking to you impossible.

Room was comfortable, but poor hot water flow for bath, and single bed a bit narrow, though sheets ,pillows and duvet were of a high quality. Slightly disappointed with breakfast as I was not offered hot toast and marmalade and maybe the offer of latte would be nice. Room nice and warm Lovely, helpful staff
Poor hot-water supply for a bath, but soap etc were fine, and lovely clean, soft towels. Hot toast should have been made available…a must for breakfast. Single bed a bit narrow, but linen was excellent

Lovely traditional country village hotel. We have stayed here 4-5 times in recent years and enjoy the hotel a lot. Very helpful friendly staff, great breakfast and nice evening meals. Rooms are comfortable and are decorated in a traditional style. Overall a great value hotel.
Not really the hotels fault however the nearby landowners have introduced gas guns to scare off the birds from their crops. Unfortunately our dog gets scared every time the guns go off making it impossible for us to walk our dog anymore down in Gifford. The guns appear to have been introduced in the last couole of years

The Tweeddale Arms hotel is a stunning hidden gem!!!! Warm welcoming, smiling, professional staff, so helpful; nothing too much trouble with genuine interest in your comfort and enjoyment. Wonderful food, historic rooms but a very comfortable ambience. And the local Yester forest/river walks were splendid, literally yards from the hotel, and they welcomed my dogs!!!!! I will certainly be returning soon, I felt at home as soon as I entered this glorious hotel!!
The weather!!

The room was super. I loved the decor....warm feeling. Very comfortable bed. Kettle, TV, quiet room overlooking the village square. Staff were lovely and friendly. Great hotel with character, let down by meagre breakfast. Gideons bible ......a rarity in hotel rooms in these modern days. Well done!
Breakfast was a few cold meat and cheese options, cereal, juice. Not offered toast so we missed out on that!! Stayed here before and had cooked breakfast. Very disappointed and tried it once!!

The location is excellent not only for exploring Gifford itself but the surrounding area. It's also dog friendly and this is third time we've stayed here. Staff are friendly and very approachable if you have a problem.
Continental breakfast. When we've stayed here previously we've had a full English breakfast so expected the same this time. What we got was a cold Continental breakfast with cold meats cheese tomatoes pastries yoghurt etc.

Location was beautiful . Peaceful and relaxing with a wonderful discovery of an ancient castle near by ! The staff were all very welcoming and polite. Always happy to help and accommodate when asked. Breakfast was good. As a vegetarian it was nice to have a few options to chose from and being able to select particular items daily is great .
Due to the age of the building you can hear a lot of what’s going on in other rooms . This cannot be helped but it is something that woke me up on one of my nights

The main rooms and our bedroom were nicely decorated with many interesting pictures, furniture and ornaments. The hotel had character and was spotlessly clean. The staff were polite and helpful. The service at breakfast was fast and the portions generous.
The carpets in the corridors were several different types/patterns and did not have a pleasant aroma. A few smiles from the staff would have made our stay even better. A couple of things at breakfast could have been a better quality e.g. the jam.

Great little place, quiet village, close enough to nip to Edinburgh for the day although buses from Gifford are patchy, they are great in the next village of Haddington. Very welcoming staff, cute little rooms, nothing flashy but immaculately clean and comfortable. Gave a 9 but would have been a 10 had our room overlooked the village green rather than a flat roof but this was out of hotels control as we got the last available room.
Apart from the view from the room, absolutely nothing at all
