The Reading Rooms is a charming little B&B, best suited to independent travellers who like to be out and about all day. Rooms are bright and airy each with their own en-suite shower rooms bathrooms . Guests have use of their own kitchen area where they can access all the makings for a quick do it yourself breakfast. There are a number of pubs restaurants and takeaways within easy walking distance for an evening meal ( The General Havelock is highly recommended) . Great fish and chips from the chippie over the bridge Brian the host is a lovely man and very knowledgable about the history of the area and has great tips for visiting the local attractions . There is ample on street parking which is also a bonus and the local train station is at the top of the road with regular trains to Hexham. Our only disappointment is we couldn't stay longer

can't think of anything

It is well located in the centre of Hayden bridge. You might think being near the road it is noisy. It isn’t. The owners really look after the cleanliness and the breakfast is nothing to write home about but does the job. All in all I think this is a good place to spend 2-3 days. Well placed for Hadrians wall.

It doesn’t have a garden .. but that’s evident. Parking isn’t provided … but again there is plenty at the rear of the property regardless of its central location.

We wanted to visit Hadrian’s Wall and decided to stay in Haydon Bridge rather than Hexham. I am so glad we did because we were able to stay at the Reading Room. I received messages from Brian before arriving then kept in touch with him by text message as we were running late. Brian was so obliging and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and even the though we were close to the road, were quiet. There was a kitchen area if we wanted to use it and the continental breakfast was enjoyable. Even decaf coffee for the plunger was provided.

It’s only a little thing, however, curtains on the dining area, which are right next to the street, would be good

What a lovely place to stay when visiting Hadrian's Wall! We had a beautiful view overlooking the river and bridge. The room was large and comfortable. Brian, the owner, was very kind and generous with his time and allowed us to use the laundry facilities knowing that we'd been traveling for weeks. He's a fun and interesting conversationalist as well! We had a great time and would definitely stay here again!

Excellent rooms, perfect location and the perfect host. I got food poisoning from dinner and had a terrible nights sleep because of it. The owner, Brian, let me stay until way after the normal check out time the next morning to give me some time to rest and recover before getting the train. Not sure what I'd have done if I wasn't able to. So a massive thank you to Brian! I can't personally comment on the breakfast but my friends all really enjoyed it. 10/10 would recommend to everyone

Very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is set up to be accessed at any time even if that's super early and your keen to get back on your trail. Owners were very kind, flexible and even kindly gave me a lift back up the hill to continue my walk where I left off. Central location and rooms were still peaceful even though the road is just outside. Really enjoyed and highly recommend.

The location is quiet and picturesque, with two food stores nearby. Breakfast was included, including yoghurt, fresh fruit etc., and there is also a kitchen exclusively for guests' use. The room was a good size and clean and the bathroom excellent. The owner was very helpful, and in the breakfast room is useful reading matter about the area. It is also close to bus and rail links. In all, highly recommended.

Very nice, clean B&B right next to the bridge. Great large room, aktuelle BNB I Head on the Trip that didn’t half rather crammed Room. And there was even breakfast in the fridge for self service though announced as room only. Where have you ever seen something like that?

It is next to the road but it’s ok

Great little b&b in Haydon Bridge for an overnight stay on our journey to Edinburgh. Brian was very helpful with local knowledge and dining options. He also advised on the best place to get my puncture fixed, and Johnny at Valur Tread in Hexham got it fixed, ready for our next leg of the journey.

Nothing

Good location, close to restaurants and bars. It was also within walking distance of the river and close to some pretty views of the bridge. A washer/dryer was available for guests' use. There were groceries in the refrigerator for the guests' use. You could use the kitchen. Very convenient. A nice sitting area, too.

Nothing stands out that we didn't like. It was a very nice place.
