Very friendly welcome, in the bar. Where we relaxed with a drink before going upstairs to our room. The room was large and bright with a huge bed. There was also a good size TV. Not the usual laptop size, found in many hotels. The Albert Inn serves bar meals. Their special offer menu had a good selection at excellent value for money. We both enjoyed our choices. The inclusive breakfast was served in a dining room and was equally as good. The location, just off the main through route, is in the centre of the town and close to beaches and harbour. We could see the main road but there was no traffic noise.
We were very happy with everything. There was a fairly narrow, steep staircase up to our room, but it was not a problem and we are in our late eighties.

Double rooms were a good size and the beds were extremely comfortable. Although the en suite shower rooms were small, the showers themselves were superb! Our host was very friendly and served up a great breakfast. Although there was a public bar underneath, I wasn't disturbed at all.
Slightly roomier toilets would be nice......I had to sit 'side-saddle' on one of them! Although you couldn't hear any noise from the bar downstairs, it was very easy to hear noise from adjoining rooms. If you have one of the 'front' rooms, facing the A96, you do hear a lot of road noise.

I have used Albert Inn several times before. Its location suits my needs for a couple of nights. The food is very good. All the facilities you could need - comfy bed, small but adequate shower room, lovely white towels, tea and coffee. The decor is a bit old fashioned and showing signs of wear and tear
While I have no problem with the room not being serviced during my 2 night stay, I don't think that the lack of attention to the dusting is acceptable. The bedside lamp, the skirting boards and light switches were all dusty. The TV is situated in an unfortunate position, in room 3 but appreciate the limited availability of a more suitable space.

The building is old and some aspects shabby but a lot of refurbishment has been done and seems to be an ongoing process. The bathrooms are gradually being modernised and the bedrooms have been redecorated as have the public areas. We liked that locals came into the bar to eat and drink and the food was exceptionally good at a reasonable price. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was cooked to order - lovely poached eggs! Staff were friendly and helpful. The Albert Inn is in a very convenient location close to the shops, cafes, restaurants etc We were pleasantly surprised to get a decent discount for single occupancy which is rare nowadays.
Two minor niggles with my room - the bathroom could have done with a light over the mirror to see when putting on make-up and there was no full-length mirror in the bedroom. The carpet on the stairs and hallways was shabby but obviously the owners can't afford to replace everything at once.

Excellent bed very comfortable and had really good night sleep. Guy the owner and Chef was brilliant and omg the restaurant/bar I would advise you book for meal and no wonder absolutely excellent choice of meals and each cooked to order. Cooked to perfection best steak and haddock I have ever had. Thanks Guy and Robbie for making us both feel right at home, will definitely be back, also a fabulous breakfast as well. Thanks 👌👌
The rooms could be freshened up a bit but having said that would stay again. Television only fault was on the position of the TV as it meant watching it with neck turned towards the wall. Perhaps a new carpet would be a good idea.

The breakfast was really good, cooked to order and served by the owner who was very nice. The room was lovely and spacious.
The shower room was very small. It was unfortunate the bar or meal options weren't available on the Sunday due to staff shortages as it was a nice bar area. We couldn't get in to the premises on the Saturday until 3pm as it was all locked up. Possibly due to staffing issues which again was unfortunate.

GREAT food. Very comfy beds.
On behalf of my youngest daughter who is 18 she wasn't pleased that she was refused service at the bar even though she had ID on her mobile showing her driving licence. Shower cubicles on the small/tight size but understandable I suppose with the ensuite setup configuration. Drainage in parking could do with looking into as with the recent torrential rain - and the drizzly rain that followed, meant most of the carpark was under pools several inches deep.

we loved the location.. the staff were fantastic & cooked us dinner on arrival after kitchen was about to close which was fantastic and extremely tasty… bedroom was cozy yet airy just a perfect temperature.. bed was so comfy and decorating was fantastic and homely .. fantastic tv reception every channel worked …. breakfast was bloody brilliant .. staff were inviting & they treated us not as guests but as friends … bar was open and great service.. bar closed at a reasonable time & we had no issues with noise from the bar while in bed … I will be highly recommending The Albert Inn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
nothing tbh .. I did have a slight noice problem from the down stairs outside fan below our room .. but the owner switched it off at my request.. Room 2 … ( I’m a light sleeper ) probably would bother anyone els to be fair

Breakfast was a treat, room was exactly as expected, very clean and modernized with a large comfortable bed.
The bed was so comfortable that my wife fell immediately asleep when we returned from walking along the beach and having consumed a large meal at a nearby restaurant. So much for a romantic night on the night of the summer solstice.

Hospitality was good friendly staff and local customers and the food was good value for money had the 3 course evening meal deal and the scottish breakfast was also good in the morning.
The outside of the building could do with updating but dont let that put you off. Inside everything was fine a good bar/restaurant area and another room for breakfast in the morning. The rooms are not the biggest but they are functional and good value for money. Would definitely stay again.
