Breakfast was wonderful, everything was delicious and felt top quality with locally sourced ingredients. The room was lovely and clean, spacious and quiet with stunning views. We especially loved playing board games by the fire in the drawing room while having a drink or two from the bar, I felt transported to simpler times. The staff were so sweet, attentive and so helpful throughout; nothing was too much. Dinner felt special and was delicious. The location is wonderful as we used it as a base to explore York, Malton, Goathland and Whitby. The fact it's deep in the countryside with little light meant my daughter was finally able to see the Milky Way, something she's never been able to see from London, which she absolutely loved! Our stay was so wonderfully serene and just what we needed to recharge. We wouldn't think twice about coming back. Thank you so much x

Everything was beautiful, we met our friends at the hotel, spent time catching up sitting by the log fire flanked by two beautifully decorated Christmas trees. The whole hotel is warm and welcoming, the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had dinner which was delicious, what we expected for such an establishment and was definitely not disappointed. Breakfast was also great. Our room was by the dining room, lovely big room, comfortable, clean and the un-suite was great. Would definitely go back to the hotel when in the area.

Only issue we had was we could hear the noise from the dining room and kitchen quite clearly, also when the people in the room above us where moving around at night it was quite loud. Non of that takes away from the beautiful hotel, it's amenities and the wonderful staff.

Absolutely lovely staff. Friendly, welcoming and accommodating from the first encounter (which was over the phone) the grounds are beautiful, even the drive there was pretty . The house has character and class. I was momentarily disappointed to hear we were staying on the ground floor (the room is located through the dining rooms) but this didn’t last long once we were shown inside. It was spacious, tastefully decorated and had stunning original features. We also had a private entrance. Breakfast was also not a buffet which we were very happy about. Only small note is the mattress might not be for everyone. My partner thought it was too hard and woke up with a bit of a sore back (I slept like a baby)

Breakfast was exceptional. The saxophone player on Saturday evening was delightful, funny and really relaxing. Our room "Fountains" was absolutely beautiful, dual aspect, perfectly appointed and very spacious. The bathroom was lovely. Alison the General Manager made us feel extremely welcome, was warm, funny and attentive to everything we wanted during our stay.

When we say perfection, we mean perfection. Nothing needs to change, keep doing what you do, an amazing place to stay. The setting was idyllic, peaceful and well maintained with some lovely lounges, seating areas and the dining room was traditional and elegant.

This is an impeccable place to stay, very quiet, beautiful rooms and facilities. I personally love a shower that has great pressure and our our room certainly had that! The bath was lovely and large which the missus utilised. The mattresses were soft and you sink into it which gave me a really good sleep. The food was generous and incredibly tasty and the drink selection (even though there is no draught beer facility) had a good assortment of local bottled beers and ciders. There was Tea and coffee making in the room.

Personal taste, but I think a buffet styled pick your own breakfast arrangement would probably work better, maybe an idea for the future!

Nice old place with character Friendly relaxed atmosphere Good breakfast

With relaxed management staff comes complacency so there were a few minor issues door lock was stiff was given another key and it was better but lock still not great small thing but should be sorted before guests arrive and when the room was last painted they didn’t cover anything as there was splashes on bottoms of glasses on too of drawers and dressing table agin no big issue but some more attention to detail would make this place another level up and probably could charge more but overall for price we paid it was ok

Staff excellent, really friendly and helpful. Food first class, well presented and cooked. Great location. Beautiful building and well maintained. Superb period property. I am a decorator and the decoration ie wallpapering and finish was top notch. Would definitely visit again!

Really don't want to be critical at all however the pillows were not good. Everything else was first class but with the pillows being so flat, it made it an uncomfortable sleep for us. We had asked for another so had 3 each in total and they were still flat. Know pillows are a personal thing, but they just seemed to let an otherwise outstanding stay down a little. Not put us off at all....just for info. We'll bring our own next time.

Rooms are huge and very clean and have tea/coffee facilities. Bathrooms are immaculate and the shower was great. Breakfast was amazing and served on hot plates and was delicious. The staff can’t do enough for you. Love this place. Second time staying here for work and the fact that it is out in the countryside makes it so peaceful and quiet. I didn’t have a meal in the restaurant but if the breakfast was anything to go by I’m sure it would have been superb.

Nothing. Just a lovely place with really nice people. Top marks.

Really friendly, helpful staff everyone we dealt with was smiley and chatty and nothing was too much trouble. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. So glad we decided to have the evening meal. Very quiet room with super comfy bed and a lovely powerful shower.

We had such a wonderful experience it was really difficult to find a negative however It’s a very small point and it certainly wouldn’t stop us from returning but the music at dinner really could do with being a bit more varied. It was all very beige not quite Muzak but close.

Gorgeous period property in a rural setting. My friend and I had booked to do wine tasting at Ryedale Vineyard a few miles away, so this was the perfect stay for when we were too tipsy to drive home! - The rooms were spacious and very clean, we had a corner room with windows on two sides. - The decor (cottage core) was impeccable throughout, with vintage furniture and patterned wallpaper and soft furnishings in calming colours & a beautiful roll too bath in the bathroom. - There is a restaurant on site that although small, was excellent at adapting the menu the cater for me (vegan) - thank you! - The staff were ALL lovely and helpful. - Couldn’t recommend this place more highly!
