the room was comfortable and easy to maneuver for people with mobility issues ; the windows opened! We asked for no more than one flight of stairs if there was no lift and this request was fulfilled.

There were strange noises in our cold water tap and coming from the room beside us as well. And there was a howling noise either with someone's shower or toilet neat to us. However it all added to the atmosphere and I am sure it will be investigated. After 10pm everything was quiet and also in the early morning it remained quiet. The staff were attentive and helpful.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Just a bit disappointed in that our booking wasn't actually for the Lodge itself. It was at the OLD Lodgings (annex) down the road......which we were not aware of when we made our online booking. And we only realised when we got there - that sadly it was away from The Lodge. But it was clean and comfortable.

Perhaps indicate much more clearly if you are booked for the Lodge oR the annex.?? Please.

We stayed in the Old Lodgings building which was a short walk from the main hotel, and I thought this was so much nicer than staying in the actual hotel. It felt like a home from home, we were on the top floor so had great privacy and the room was a generous size with a huge bathroom and strangely a leather armchair in the bathroom?! It was so peaceful and idyllic and I'd definitely stay again to stay in the out building. So close to the centre of Malton, too.

The decor itself was ok, not too traditional, but I'd say there's a bit of work to do in the property itself with cracks in ceilings, bathroom door not closing etc. Just needs a little bit of attention, but that was my only qualm.

We were in the anex (a separate building 100 metres from the main house, near the church). On the top floor. We were warned the church bells next to the building could be loud, but we didn't hear them at all. You could only just hear from the bathroom. Not at all in the bedroom. Great location, right in the middle of town. Huge room and bathroom. With full bath. Great value, given size and location. We booked breakfast separately (at the main house) which was also good value and very nice. Staff were very polite and helpful on check-in, check out, at the bar and at breakfast. Lovely town. Lots to do. Lots of nice pubs and great places to eat great base for further exploring too. E.g. Castle Howard. The countryside and coast not too far for a day out too. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Nothing really. All spot on. Only Earl Grey tea, not normal tea next to kettle, but I'm splitting hairs. I just had a coffee instead. Pillows weren't the most comfortable, but not the end of the world. The stay was superb.

The room, the staff, the place itself, the cleanliness, the food....the list is endless!! I made the booking and emailed a few questions, Beth was super helpful and very quick to respond. Not sure who the lady was on reception but she was also faultless!! She was on reception, serving drinks at the bar and even ran off to get an iron when i requested one. One of the best places ive stayed in and i will be recommending The Old Lodge to everyone i know! I hope the managers and owners recognise what a great team they have working for them. Once again....absolutely faultless stay...i will be back!!

Cant name 1!!!

Was very grateful to be met by such friendly staff at just gone midnight after a long and tiring 5-hour drive. He was very accommodating, showed us to our room, and suggested a safe place to park my vehicle which had some kit in the back. The room was very clean and the bed offered welcome comfort after the above-mentioned journey. WIFI was really good - my husband was able to work remotely from our room whilst I was out doing fieldwork without any disruption to connection. My only regret is that we were so busy, and didn't have time to fully enjoy the beautiful grounds :-) Thank you very much!

The hotel has a convenient car park and beautiful green lawns with large mature trees. We enjoyed seeing the rabbits and squirrels in their peaceful settings. The restaurant and bar are very handy for sitting out with a drink or two. There is also a green with a forest walk called Castle Gardens, next door to the hotel which also has a variety of trees and wildlife. My wife and I saw a deer wander out of Castle Gardens. It's a short walk to the bus station. We caught the bus to York one day, then Whitby the next.

Due to the hot weather, which couldn't be helped, it seems that the folks upstairs from us had their air conditionning going through the night which woke me from sleep once or twice a night.

Friendly and efficient lady at reception on arrival. Good location to walk easily in to Malton Town. We were in room 29 of the Old Lodgings down the road from the main hotel. The room and ensuite bathroom were both spacious and very clean.

Very warm in second floor bedrooms in the Old Lodgings (Our friends were in room 27 upstairs too).No fan in bedrooms so had to open windows but noisy karaoke from pub round the corner- finished at 12am. Clock tower begins to chime at 7am and its right beside the accomodation. Ceiling has had damp damage but has not been redecorated.

We stayed in the old lodgings jist down the road from the main hotel- was a lovely building and our room was massive! Right in town centre so good for all restaurants pubs and shops and perfect for our trip to FlamingoLand. The old lodgings felt like our own private apartment and we loved that

Nothing to dislike

I stayed here in a room in the lodgings , and it was fine. A newly refurbished bathroom was appriacated. i was glad of the fan that had been put intoi the room during the recent really hot spell, it helped keep the room at a decent bearable temperature. I have stayed here before , and look forward to staying here again

I damaged the front bumper of my car while dropping off my bags at the lodgings. The bathrooms are apparently being refurbed , and as a result a skip was in the area used to allow 2 cars to drop things off before parking back up at the main hotel. in trying to get my car onto the pavement i ran the front of the car into a low wall. Very annoying. I appreciate I was lucky enough to benefit from one of the already refurbished rooms, but the skip was full and really didnt need to have been there .
