The Manager was excellent. Very helpful and went over and above to accommodate us and provided the best of welcomes. The breakfast was very good quality and cooked well. Perhaps an extra rasher of bacon or some beans would be a good thing but we love our breakfast so maybe we're just being greedy! The rooms were very clean with plenty of tea, coffee etc. Bar was very old and quaint with a lovely fire and beautiful xmas tree. Lots of board games etc provided. We would stay again.

There was nothing to really dislike, although if being picky, the mattresses were a bit lumpy and the curtains in our room were way past their best and could have fitted the bay a bit better but they did the job okay. Pillows were a little flat.

The staff were very helpful and friendly 🙂 great chats throughout our 2 day stay. The food was delicious and of good quality. You must have a pie. Breakfast really 👍good choice. Nothing a problem if you asked for something added. Rooms clean and comfortable and plenty of space. Deep comfortable carpets. Very old quirky inn, situated in a very pretty town square. Close to longleat , we chose this location because we visited the light festival,

Decor of the bedroom could be refreshed. Because the room was large, the heating could have been on a bit longer (personal choice).

The George Inn is a quintessential English pub that was the perfect venue to start our UK trip. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try the food due to meeting friends elsewhere in the evening, and having to leave early in the morning with a sick child. It sounded amazing though, we would definitely stay here again. The highlight for us was the kindness and understanding shown by the staff in dealing with our child, they made a very stressful situation a little more manageable. The family room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We stayed on a Saturday night and there was no issue whatsoever with noise. 100% recommend. Thank you so much!

Wow what a building with loads of history which has maintained lots of the original features and located in a lovely village, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was very good with plenty of space, in our particular room it could of done with a dressing table or a bigger table which the TV and drink making area is but by no means a negative. The saturday steaknnight is well worth it, the meal was cooked to perfection, very nice and reasonably priced. Not a particular problem, probably to do with the solid walls of the old building is the WiFi was unstable in our particular room.

Nothing to dislike.

The family room we stayed in was by far the best we have experienced in the UK. It was clean comfortable and stylish with 3 proper beds and a lovely bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and the service & friendliness was brilliant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would happily stay again & definitely recommend.

We tried to contact the venue in advance because we had an issue with the checking in times as we were attending a family wedding but didn't manage to speak to anyone & didn't get a return call.

The food was excellent. Irish stew vennison pie, and Sunday roast. All staff very friendly & helpful. Log fire in the main bar most welcome. Room comfortable.

Free standing roll top bath with shower hose. Not suitable for elderly or restricted ability persons. Bar, lounge, and dining room closed at 6pm on Sunday. No other hostelries are available either. Village appears to close down on Sunday evenings, except Co op store. Had to retire to room.

The welcome at The George Inn was very good. It was a welcoming place to arrive to after a long journey. It is a very old building with lots of interesting history. They had good wines and ales on offer and the menu was extensive. The food was very nice. The room was small but had everything we needed.

The parking for The George Inn was not particularly obvious and we ended up parking out the front which is council owned and would have seen us clamped after an hour. We only found this out when we mentioned where we had parked. It might be an idea to mention the parking (of which there is a lot) on the booking confirmation? We had dinner at The George Inn and the food was good quality. Mains took a long time to arrive but were very nice. Because we had had a long day, we wanted to watch some TV in the evening in our room. However, the television was tiny so that wasnt an option.

It is a beautiful 16th century building with tons of character. Huge fireplace and decorated lovely for Christmas. The food was excellent. We stayed there for 1 night and had lunch and Christmas dinner in the evening. Staff very attentive and friendly. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and I like a china teapot as opposed to cheap staintless steel ones that leak everywhere. The original floor in the bar area and its huge fireplace took you back to when King Charles II dined there. May have sat where he sat!

There wasn't anything that didn't meet my expectations.

The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a very good night's sleep.

We had come for a wedding and the rest of my family were staying in a B&B opposite and had asked that we all eat breakfast together at their B&B. However, the staff at The George seemed to take great offence to this and couldn't understand why we weren't eating their breakfast. Even in the morning there were some sarcastic comments about us not eating breakfast in their restuarant even though we had explained that my parents wanted us to all eat breakfast together as we don't see each other very often! We couldn't really understand this as they still charged us for the breakfast so actually they made money as they didn't have to cook for us! It just made us feel quite uncomfortable.

We stopped over here as part of a longer journey and were really surprised at how lovely it was. The staff were amazing - I’m not sure of the name of the man who greeted us and served us, but he was really friendly and incredibly helpful. The room was lovely and clean and the village sweet. We ate in the restaurant and the food was wonderful with many veggie options. This will be my go-to stopover when heading from London to the South West
