I first stopped at The Nags Head more than 2 years ago when we stopped for lunch on the way to taking my son to university. It has become our regular food stop as it's roughly halfway and we've never had a bad experience. This time, I decided to treat myself and stay overnight en route to collecting him and it really was a treat. The single room is obviously quite small but it does not feel cramped and has everything you need. The facilities were excellent. The staff were welcoming and friendly as always, the room was spotless and the service was great. I would definitely stay again.
The continental breakfast included in the price was a bit limited. The fruit consisted of whole bananas, tangerines and apples, some pastries, cereal and a variety of flavoured yogurts and juices. The hot options however are reasonably priced. I had mushroom Benedict for £7.50 and it was delicious. It wouldn't put me off staying again.

Lovely hotel, recently modernised, large rooms, great shower.
Be careful if you are staying on a weeknight, we advised the hotel we would be there just around 9:15, as the weather held us up. We were then advised the kitchen would be closed, so had to stop to get some food before we got there, as we had 2 children who were hungry. The hotel were calling us at 9:30, telling us they wanted to lock up. We got there at 9:45 & clearly we were keeping the staff member there. It was a disappointing arrival after such a long journey. There was continental breakfast included in the price, however for the cost of the rooms, I think a cooked breakfast should have been included.

The Nags Head is a beautiful old building, which looked as if it had been recently very nicely renovated. We had a lovely spacious room with everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed. The food is very good, reasonably priced and very popular. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was advertised on booking.com as "room only", but in fact an excellent continental breakfast is included and there is an additional charge for a cooked breakfast.
There was some road noise in the morning, but all the positives of the hotel outweighed this.

The staff worked very hard and were extremely accommodating. The food was excellent and the bar was well stocked. Our room was a good size and had an en suite with both a shower and a bath. The car park was a good size and certainly ample for the size of the hotel. We travelled on motorbikes and parking was easy. A rear entrance to the upstairs rooms meant we didn't have to walk through the hotel. Pleasant walks along the adjacent canal and around the surrounding countryside. Lots of wildlife.
Lots of road noise from around 4am onwards

Nicely appointed and finished pub with lots of original features retained. Attentive and friendly staff. Room was pretty decent. Restaurant meal in the evening was excellent and better than your average pub food served in most places. The included continental breakfast was good enough to start the day. We would stay again.
Slightly lumpy (for me) bed that had casters that couldn't be locked so it moved a bit too easily. Noise from the road during the night would have been intrusive but we always have ear plugs with us when we travel.

The room was spotless, really lovely decor and comfy. All the staff were lovely, really welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal here and the food was outstanding as was the breakfast. We opted to pay the extra to have a cooked breakfast and it was worth it. With the hotel's location (proximity to the road) there was inevitable road noise but with the windows closed it was barely noticeable and certainly didn't keep us awake. A fan in the room meant that in warmer temps the windows can be kept closed.

We stayed for 4 nights, location was great for us to travel all over north/central wales. Room was spacious and freshened up for us everyday. Evening meals were lovely and breakfast was ok but very varied from day to day. It was a lovely stay and the staff were very attentive. We would stay again.
As we stayed over a weekend and weekdays it was obvious breakfast wasn’t thought about as much on weekdays. Instead of freshly cooked croissants (like on the weekend) the week day ones were in a bag and the cooked breakfast were never consistent with how it was cooked or what was actually on the plate. Plus one breakfast we could hear a staff member moaning about her job and how she wasn’t allowed to have fun, rather unprofessional to complain about your job where the guests are sitting eating breakfast. The room was clean but a bit more attention on the shower head would be great as limescale had built up on it reducing its efficiency.

Warm welcome from friendly staff, fabulous well appointed room - tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean with huge comfy bed. Even though our room was at the front we couldn’t hear the passing traffic at all. Dinner was sublime. Continental breakfast is included in the room rate and there was a great selection of cereals, juices, yoghurts, croissants, fruit, toast etc. However for an additional £4.95 we opted to add the cooked option as well - what a bargain - amazing value and absolutely delicious - using quality locally sourced eggs, sausages and bacon. Never had so much food for £4.95! We couldn’t eat it all and asked for a takeaway box to enjoy later. Thanks for a great stay!
We liked everything.

Lovely clean room and bathroom, a credit to the staff. Ate lunch there but not breakfast, very good quality (gammon. ) Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Plenty of parking. If going to Garthmyl hall it’s a short walk along the main road, there’s a grass verge some of the way and then quite a walk up a hill along the drive to the Hall itself. Recommend flat shoes!
Stairs may be difficult for some, both inside and outside if coming in late, and in the dark.

Easy to find, just off the main road. Plenty of free parking available. Access available to the rooms 24/7 via external staircase, if you need to come and go outside the times the rest of the pub/restaurant is open. Rooms lovely- nicely decorated, up to date bathrooms, very comfortable bed. Everything you need. Continental breakfast was included and was plenty for my needs. Cooked breakfast available at an upgrade. Evening meal was delicious. Plenty to choose from on the menu and a nice atmosphere, even as a solo traveller.
Literally the only negative to my stay was the sound that carried very easily through the ceiling and floorboards, including noise from the kitchen (the very noisy dishwasher mainly). It wouldn't be enough to stop me from choosing to stay here again though, as all the pro's outweigh this slight negative.
