We stayed in the modern and warm complex of steading rooms - facilities were great and room had an outlook into the woods. The restaurant/bar was lovely and welcoming. Staff were very helpful in rectifying a small glitch in our payment. Superb location as a base for walks in the glens.

Just two minor comments: 1. The hydro-electric system was a bit loud from our room - we were expecting a quiet haven in nature. (But it was simply noticeable, definitely not offensive!) 2. Someone came and cleaned our windows (outside) while we were still in the room in the morning which was a bit of a surprise - I'd suggest they leave this job for after checkout time!

A great location although do be aware that you really are in the middle of nowhere. I went to Forfar beforehand to get some fruit and snacks for my walks etc. Pretty much everything else was just wonderful. I loved the peace and quiet in my steading room and all of the staff were excellent.

The only thing I didn’t like was that there was a small wall mounted TV in the bar blaring out music on my first night. I found it quite irritating but had my iPad and headphones anyway. The next evening the music was switched off which was brilliant.

A fantastic hotel surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our steading room was dog friendly and a perfect size for two adults plus the dog. The food was amazing! The venison blade I had for supper was unbelievable! Breakfast in the morning was also delicious. The hotel is perfectly situated for going on lots of hikes. There were plenty of water bowls dotted about for dogs to have a drink and also poo bins which I thought was really helpful.

The steading is the place to book for taking a four-legged friend with you and this is not a criticism but it would have been good if you could perhaps pay £10 extra and the hotel would supply two dog bowls, blanket/bed and maybe a doggy treat for the room. It would've made it extra special and meant we didn't have to take his bed with us.

What an amazing spot! Wonderful facilities with bars and private relaxing spaces. The staff were incredible for the whole stay. Our room had a large bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Staff were very happy to chat when we wanted to and nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen was extremely accommodating with special requests from us foreigners and the food was great. We wanted to extend our stay another night but it was fully booked. Lots of great walks around the area too. Would love to come again one day.

the food was a HUGE disappointment. Generic cash n carry menu with no character, no relation to the local surroundings or produce or cuisine, massively overpriced and very short hours for evening service. Breakfast was better.

It was quiet and comfortable. We had our dog with us and there was plenty of space for him in the Steading room we stayed in (Clova). The staff were all lovely especially Jenny who always made time to have a chat and she was brilliant with our dog. The food was also lovely (dinner 2 nights in the bar and full Scottish breakfast both mornings)

The only slight downside to the property is there being no grassy area to let the dog off at the hotel but it wasn’t a huge issue.

The situation among the hills is very special. Our room in the Steading was nicely furnished and all we could have expected with a very comfortable bed, and tea and coffee etc. available. As both of us are not too good on our feet we appreciated being able to park close to our room. We had an excellent meal the evening we arrived and an equally good breakfast. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We certainly plan to come back again!

Beautiful location and ideal for those wanting to experience walking in the Angus Glens. Very helpful staff and attractive accommodation.

Not much wrong - It was August and our steading room was a bit warm - the window is round a corner and didn't open very wide. Not a major issue really! If booking again I would ask for room in the hotel.

Was looking for something a bit off the beaten track, but still relatively accessible by car. Like the fact that Glen Clova area is not over developed. The hotel manager was very attentive and always present to help and answer any queries.

No significant issues. The hotel bar and restaurant can close earlier in the evening in periods of lower guest volumes, but that's to be expected given staff rural location.

Excellent bar. Shout out to Mhairie who was a pleasure to deal with. Out interest was the location as great scenery for hiking.

Waitress at dinner seemed keen to move us along in our meal - removing plates whilst other people were still eating, and asking about dessert while others were eating (American style!).
