The staff were absolutely fantastic. Very helpful and friendly and chatty. The complementary night cap drinks from " Auntie " after the football was a nice touch. Didn't have breakfast but had evening meals. The meals were excellent and well presented. The Sri Lanka curry was very tasty. Ample size room for a 2 night stay The shower area is a good size with a nice powerful shower. Comfortable bed Ample parking Good locality, 5 minutes walk to the football stadium.

Although there's secondary glazing in the room, there was a bit of noise from traffic in the main street. Although the bed was comfortable, the pillows could do with upgrading. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey ( I would expect to pay these prices in Edinburgh), although the wine servings were pretty ample.

We have stayed before and were pleased to see the same persoonel were in post. They are first class and the hotel's greatest asset. We decided to stay in-house for our evening meal and it was tasty and generally good value.

We did observe a couples of generally minor items needing action in the bathroom i.e Loo roll holder required, glasses required. In addition, the first of the two curtains at the windows was badly torn and really needs to be replaced.

The family run hotel was very handy for our visit to Brechin. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The restaurant food was excellent and reasonably priced, and our room (102) was spacious, well appointed, and extremely comfortable.

A very minor point, but the bar didn’t stock my favourite beers (IPA’s or Pale Ales), so even in cans or bottles would have been nice. But it didn’t spoil or affect our very enjoyable stay at the Northern Hotel 😉

very central location.. lovely big room. large comfortable bed , also sofa bed.. friendly helpful owners /staff... a short walk to large park. next to the Cathedral. very interesting .. also local museum nearby. worth a wee visit.... breakfast was good too,

a bit dated decor wise etc. but over all good. was reasonably priced for our 2 nights with breakfast... and bit disappointed with my food on second night. as ordered the chicken goujon starter (was excellent on first night.) but ordered again second night was not great at all. the batter was so different. thick pale & chipper style. ?? nothing like the previous night. (i probably could have queried it . maybe someone different prepared it .) but i let it go....

The location, parking, accommodation and meals were all very good. However, as usual, what made this place stand out for us was the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly recommend the hotel to family and friends.

As mentioned above the staff made the stay for us. From the Manger to the bar staff all were first class and we really felt at home. The evening meal and breakfast were both very tasty and the former was reasonably priced by today's standards with the later being included in the room rate.

Nice hotel - ideal if you need to visit Angus or the Glens. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Looks like they have recently update the bathroom which is good. Hotel was a little quiet but the owner and his family were very welcoming and friendly. There is an on-site restaurant and a bar which is not too busy. Good breakfast (extra cost).

The room was a little hot (it was in June!) so had to open the window which resulted in a bit of noise coming into the room(1st floor). Not a major issue as could have closed the window.

I have a very small breakfast and i do drink a lot of tea, the hotel staff are very good and always top it up 3 or 4 times without a word of complaint. I have stayed at this hotel for over 3 weeks now and the staff are just lovely, in fact it is the family of the owner that makes it so enjoyable. They are kind and respectful trying their very best to meet your needs.

I really do not have any dislikes whilst staying at this family run hotel.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Car park to the rear of the hotel was really helpful.

There was was some noise from the rear of the property late on but we were advised of this on booking and it didn’t last too long.

Our stay at the hotel was delightful. We were very much looked after. We had a competition so the staff opened for breakfast earlier to accommodate our needs. This friendly service is what will encourage us for a return visit. Food was excellent and of a high standard.

Decor could possibly need updated in some aspects of the hotel.

The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. A little wait for dinner as they were busy, but excellent quality and piping hot. The rooms are spacious and clean (we had two) with absolutely no complaints. Complimentary Tea, Coffee & Hot Chocolate in the room with toiletries in the bathroom. we had a very nice quiet stay in a nice part of the country.

Some areas are looking a little tired, but despite this it was very clean.
