Location excellent. 2 mins to high street. Very quiet overlooking the lock. Beds comfy, new ish bathroom. Very old building. Easy getting in as no staff present. Good wifi. Parking available but didn’t use it.

No bed side lights to read at night. All lights were high up and bright. Bed side lights were on a pulley cord and could not be dimmed. The cistern handle was partly loose so took a bit of effort to flush properly. Also cobwebs above the bed in the corner and above a picture (above bed). I emailed the owner to ask something but he didn’t get back to me.

Lovely room, amazing location - unfortunately, we arrived the day after the floods, but we had spoken to the owners the day before who would have been fine for us to cancel. We chose not to. The only issue was trying to get into the key holder - we had decided to pop over in the afternoon as we were headed to a family party down the road and so pleased we had, otherwise we'd have been trying to sort it out at night in the dark. It was all sorted quickly and without fuss. Rooms were lovely and warm, good quality tea and coffee. Can recommend and would definitely stay again

A great find, loved the location and the dedicated parking. The room was comfortable and clean it had everything you needed to enjoy a short break.The view of the barges and boats passing through the lock was entertaining. Seating was available outside(within the boundary) and further benches just by the lock. Good position for access to the town a short walk away. Handy little micropub tucked away in the courtyard and a restaurant next door serving a variety of great food (there was a discount voucher for it in the room) at good prices. All in all, it's a quiet spot, and we would definitely stay again.

Pre-stay communication such as directions, access to room, local facilities etc excellent. Location excellent by the lock and very near the town centre. We were in a twin room with a lovely ensuite and a small fridge which we found very useful. The neighbouring pub was very nice and the recommended cafe was outstanding.

We did find the room a little smaller than expected which meant there was no room for a chair.

Fantastic location, with direct access to major road networks, also a pretty location should you wish to be a tourist. The private parking was easy to locate and QR code to scan was very simple. The riverside were also super accommodating with accepting our luggage pre check in too.

Being up super early it was rather cold with the dip in temperatures, however by 6/6:30am the heating had come on and we were nice and toasty again.

We loved the quirky décor and uniqueness of the rooms. Each room is different, and ours had really well thought out touches in lovely colours. It was also surprisingly quiet at night, and we loved sitting in the comfy chairs by the window watching the lock being opened, with a cuppa and a book. There were no facilities for eating at this venue (which we knew in advance) so took recommendations from a local shop, which were very good - The Lord Rupert pub for dinner, and Gannets for breakfast, both extremely nearby. Newark has amazing architecture, but we were sad that it is clearly suffering from economic struggles. This was a really good place to stop en route from Yorkshire to home in Surrey, after our holiday, and was a charming place to end our holiday.

The bathroom was a good size and we really liked the taps which kind of looked like a bubbling stream. We had a bit of a fight with the shower, and a bath was tricky as the plug didn't stay in. We're not that tall, but if you are, the sloping ceiling might be a bit hazardous.

The location was fantastic - only five minutes walk into the town and to the cafes/pubs. Love the fact that there is also free parking. Lovely view of the river and so peaceful. The rooms had tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer etc., and the beds were extremely comfortable so had a great night's sleep.

The only niggle we had was one of our rooms had an issue with the heating so was cold. It wouldn't stop us from staying there again though as the positives outweighed the negative.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Riverside Rooms in Newark. Quiet waterside location which was only a short stroll into the town. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby too. Lovely room, comfortable, clean and we had everything we needed. Having private parking was also a bonus. We'll definately be coming back to Newark and will certainly stay at The Riverside Rooms when we do.

The whole process was seamless and perfect. The property was perfect, beautifully decorated, with a lovely new bathroom. I would 100% recommend and we will definitely be back! Perfectly situated but quiet, because it's down by the lock/canal, right beside a pub but is wasn't noisy. Perfect for a stay in this area

Nothing, nothing could have been better apart from the 27 degree heat BUT there was an amazing fan in the room which meant staying here at any time of the year in any temperature would be perfect!

Perfect place to stay. A great range of hot drink options. Lovely view over the lock. Excellent communication. Beautiful room. Very comfortable bed. Walking distance to everything. Next to a funky micro pub and lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. Decent shower and quirky finishing touches around the room. Would definitely stay again.

We only haven't given it a 10 as there's no breakfast available. Other than that everything was spot on.
