Very pleasant staff, good dinner of honest pub food (but the wine bottle was brought already opened) Pleasant room. It was conveniently close to the location we had been at in Collingham.

The room was set up for one person by mistake when we arrived and that was what its size was really suitable for. But it is an old pub so the room size is difficult to alter. If the double window was closed noise of occasional passing traffic below the window was muffled, but open it was quite loud because they went fast along the long straight road. Breakfast was a bit limited but OK.

Amazing place, what a great find. We quite often have to find little places to stay whe we are working and rarely we return to them as we may not be in that area again but we will definitely make sure we are back here at the Lord Nelson. We had a wonderful meal on the saturday evening in the pub, great food, lovely atmosphere, great beer and the lady who served us, sorry didn't remember your name, was just wonderful. Richard got up early on the Sunday morning to make us a wonderful breakfast too. All round a gem of a pub, can totally recommend it to ayone. Thank you so much, Sam & Gaz, the comicon couple xxx

nothing we didn't like, it was all amazing

The breakfast was excellent; our hosts were warm and welcoming. There was a friendly convivial atmosphere in the pub and we greatly enjoyed our evening meal which was beautifully cooked and presented and very tasty. It was a lovely sunny evening so we were able to spend time in the garden before dinner.

Our bedroom had everything we could possibly need, and was very comfortable, but as it was at the front of the building facing the road it took some time for the noise of passing traffic to die down.

Lovelies staff, couldn't do enough for us. Room was perfect, surroundings gorgeous. Breakfast cooked for us to order, we felt very luxurious being the only guests there.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. The only thing was it being a bit out of the way, having to get a taxi. However, the next day they offered us a lift to the nearest train station to get us back into Newark which was such a help.

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left there was a warm inviting atmosphere. The owners and staff were lovely.. The room was well decorated and spotlessly clean. We had all the facilities we required. The bed was comfortable which added to having a good night's sleep. We eat there on both nights as the food was of such good quality and staff were very efficient and friendly.

Friendly welcome. Food for dinner and breakfast was good. Rooms were clean, staff friendly & professional.

Nothing to complain about. It is not a city centre glass & aluminium formulaic hotel. Don't expect bells & whistles and enjoy the character of the place.

Went for a wedding at the pheasantry brewery. Good location for the wedding either by car or taxi. Excellent breakfast and the room had everything you need. After a long journey the owner had already booked a table for the evening meal which was excellent. Very friendly staff . Would definitely recommend. Breakfast was superb.

Lovely room, comfy bed, hot shower, nice pub, good food, and host Richard was very friendly. Had a 10 minute stroll down to the river Trent, which was beautiful. Newark-on-Trent is a real gem of a town, very much worth a visit and is only a few minutes by car from the pub. Overall, a great stay for the weekend.

The road was noisy but that's not Richard's fault!

The evening meal was good quality food with ample portions, the breakfast we chose was basic but again good portions. The service was excellent, the room was clean and tidy and we both managed to get a good nights sleep.

Lovely traditional English pub with friendly staff , beautiful location and wonderful food. I would normally stay at standard chain hotels but this was a far better unique experience with a friendly personal touch. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff and great value for money.
