Everything was beyond perfect from the moment we arrived, the place felt like home away from home. - Perfect location - with a nice walk through the park to the city centre. - The room was clean and cosy. - Breakfast was a feast, from selection of breads to the delicious cooked breakfast each day. The banana bread truly is legendary! - The house is wonderful and tastefully decorated - definitely got some inspiration! - The hosts, Ally and Mike, are incredibly kind and welcoming, taking time each day to chat with guests and to recommend places to visit. - Elvis is the cuddliest cutest friendliest dog, putting a smile on our faces each morning. - Coronation celebration was an extra perk for us, the decorations alone were a nice touch.
We didn't like the fact we had to leave!

We spent a terrific couple of nights at Holbein House. Beautifully restored home, spacious comfortable room, delicious breakfast served around a big antique table that invited everyone to chat and interact. The most outstanding thing about our stay was the warm welcome and help from our hosts Mike and Ally. We appreciated their time and enthusiasm sharing with us ideas for a wonderful day out on the Penrith peninsula. Even though it was late in the season, and not to mention they do this everyday, their enthusiasm made us feel like we were the first guests of the year. Great recommendations for food, drinks, and visits. They also went out of their way to help us with a couple of tricky situations that needed special attention when we were there. Their location made the perfect base for a couple of days exploring western Cornwall. Highest of recommendations!

A beautiful house, lovely clean and comfortable rooms. The dining area was lovely and bright and the food excellent and best of all, guest sit at one large table (seemed awkward at first) which enabled us to really get to know our fellow guests and make friends with them. We even bumped into one couple on our travels and shared a friendly conversation! The owners were super friendly and helpful and their adorable dog greeted all guests and posed for photos! 😊 Finally, my sister left her shawl at the place and they mailed it onto her next stay for her!!
At first, not being familiar with it, I wasn’t so keen on Penzance as it wasn’t quaint like the other areas but it did prove to be a really useful central location for our travels. Just next door to Mousehole which is a must! So yes It’s well worth it staying there and the guest house is truly lovely!

wonderful bed and breakfast in Penzance, we enjoyed our stay here for our birthdays from start to finish. we were warmly welcomed and looked after from the hosts, Ally and Mike and friendly dog Elvis. They recommended placed to visit and helped with maps and locations and the best route to take. Breakfast was around a big table with other guests, it was interesting to get to know other people from all over the world. The food options had something for everyone, the cooked breakfast was amazing. The location in Penzance was a short walk to the sea, town, supermarkets and even train station and harbour. Our twin room had everything we needed and was very clean and well kept, nothing was a bother. There was a nice garden outside to sit in to, also free wifi. very well run, we didn’t want to leave and would totally recommend a stay here.

This is a superb place to stay in wonderful Penzance Cornwall. We spent 8 nights at Holbein House. From the very beginning we were impressed by the style, comfort and facilities at Holbein House. The proprietors combine a high level of professionalism with a warmth and friendliness. The breakfasts are amazing with a very wide range of continental offerings and the huge, scrumptious cooked breakfasts are fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay with Mike, Ally and the lovable Elvis - the resident friendly and docile dog. We so loved this stay, we shall return later in the year. Having travelled fairly extensively, this B&B rates as outstanding. We can unconditionally recommend this comfortable, friendly B&B - the standard of service, care and commitment by the owners makes it a very special stay indeed.
Ally and Mike have achieved to a very high standard. There is nothing we did not like.

Such a beautiful and charming b&b located within a 5 minute walk from the boardwalk. Our room was large and beautiful, and had a big bay window overlooking the garden. Our hosts Mike and Ally were so welcoming and thoughtful, and provided very helpful local recommendations. Each morning they served a very good breakfast including fruit, yogurt and baked goods to start, followed by a hot breakfast made to order. Mike and Ally really went out of their way to make our stay lovely.
Nothing really. It would have been nice to have a little fridge in our room, but there was a shared fridge available to use on the main floor so it wasn’t a bother.

What’s not to like? -Warm and friendly hosts who make you feel welcome and comfortable. Ally and Mike have a good knowledge of the area and could give lots of suggestions of what to do, see or where to eat. -rooms were clean, warm and cosy. The bathroom in our room was tiny but was perfect for us. Any requests we had were met. -breakfast was amazing with a selection of breads, spreads, drinks and a warm cooked breakfast. The hosts made sure to get us vegan pieces and even baked us vegan brownies! -the house is beautiful and clean. -Elvis the dog is gorgeous and super friendly. Very well behaved. -we found parking on the road each time without a struggle. Even at night. -we will definitely want to come back again.

Our hosts were fantastic. They were welcoming and very helpful with suggestions. Holbein House was a comfortable walking distance to the centre of town, the waterfront, pubs and eateries. We even walked to Mousehole (less than 1 hour away but we did catch a bus back). Each day started with a great breakfast with a good choice of cereals and fresh fruit, a variety of breads (including banana bread) and an English breakfast. Our room was quite spacious, very clean and very comfortable. Highly recommended for a stay in Cornwall.

Holbein House is in a great location, within walking distance from the rail station, promenade and centre of town. It stands out among the other B&Bs in the street as its signage is discreet and stylish. Great communication from hosts explaining the self check in process for late arrival - worked like a charm. The room was airy (beautiful large windows), and large beautiful high ceilings. Very comfortable bed and a brilliant shower. Loved the guest book explaining everything and also the handy tips for restaurants and pubs (very helpful on a quiet Monday night). The breakfast room was beautiful and the table laid beautifully with care - it felt like such a treat in the morning. Lots of choice and quality in terms of cereal, yoghurt and fruit (and even banana bread and brownies), and then followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice (gorgeous scrambled eggs). Delicious coffee. The hosts were hospitable and friendly and added to the great atmosphere in this beautiful B&B. They care about what they do and it shows.
Nothing I would change or add, was lovely. Wish I could have stayed longer!

A lovely welcome. Mike and Ally went out of their way to make us comfortable, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was upgraded at no extra cost. The shower was the best we have ever had. The bed was extremely comfortable. The location was quiet but central. Elvis the golden retriever was a hit with all the guests. Breakfast was a sociable event with guests seated around a long table. The breakfast itself was first class (try the banana bread). Our only complaint was that we could not stay longer.
It would be churlish to try and find fault in what was a fabulous, flawless stay.
