Good location and excellent staff make this a great place to stay. This was our second stay having visited for first time in 2023 given its proximity to Henley and as ex rowers we were down to watch the regatta. The building is very old and yes some floors may be a little uneven and some walls not entirely straight but that only goes to augment the warm welcome and excellent service provided by the team. The beer is good and the food served both at breakfast and for dinner in the restaurant in the evening is excellent. Overall this was another excellent stay and we have already booked for 2025, a big thank you to the team who looked after us during our short stay.

Loved staying at this place, which we booked last minute. The price was very reasonable given the surroundings and beautiful garden by the river Historical building, which is over 600 years old, was well maintained with attentive staff. We stayed in the Kingston room , which was very spacious and immaculately clean 1st class breakfast cooked from fresh was as good as any five-star hotel we've ever stayed. In. I definitely recommend this Inn if you're in the area or visiting the Mill at Sonning Theatre for the night

Just one extra thing would have made me score 10/10 for his place, and that would have been a mini fridge in our room.

We have been to the Bull before and love Sonning. We thought we'd come back. It is exceptionally clean, and we love this beautiful character property. I recommend dinner in the restaurant. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but it didn't matter we were offered a complimentary drink in the bar and they did apologise profusely.

Last time we came there was evening entertainment. It would've been nice this time, it would've probably encouraged us to stay up later, hence spending more at the bar. Saying that we still loved our stay.

Lovely location, very close to the tow path next to the Thames and great for walking our dog without having to navigate the busy narrow roads at Sonning. We dined there in the evening, limited range for vegetarians but helpful staff who gained advise from the Kitchen on dairy free options. Book a table ahead of your stay especially at the weekend. Our breakfast was very good, cut above the usual offering of a fry up 😉 but offered that to! Be accepting that this is a very popular busy pub so the noise that travels up into the rooms might not suit everyone, however, it will quieten down after the pub closes and the hardworking staff head on home 😊

There is very limited parking outside and on the narrow street leading to the venue.

Carpets and room doors could do with attention. An area in the main pub could do with a few comfy chairs would be an advantage. Background music especially at breakfast would be a good addition. The manageress is very abrupt, she wasn’t welcoming and didn’t raise a smile.

A beautiful pub, very cosy and welcoming. Our room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We dined from the fixed price menu available up until 6.30 pm. There was a good choice of each course and the food was delicious. Waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. Another good choice of breakfasts the following day.

Just one very minor observation, it would have been nice to have bedside lamps both sides of the bed instead of just one.

Everything was what I expected, my room was very comfortable, excellent welcome on arrival, car parking was easily available, my breakfast was excellent and the service extremely good. The location to my visit to my event was as near as I could have wished. All in all I will highly recommend the Bull at Sonning. Will stay again when necessary in your area.

Location and quaintness of the building. Food was very good. We found parking very convenient for us. Very pleasant outdoor eating space and excellent walking route to St Andrew’s Church for our son’s wedding. The Dyson fan was much appreciated too during very warm weather.

Extremely steep stairs to bedrooms - slightly dangerous particularly at the top where the level changes at the door. Our Superior Room, although very pleasantly decorated, was very warm during the recent hot weather, even with the Dyson fan. I missed having a wardrobe and chest of drawers for our four day stay, with several changes of clothes required.

Really lovely stay - the pub is beautiful and historic, and our room was exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a good shower and nice toiletries. The bed was comfortable, and we were pleasantly surprised by fresh milk for tea, as well as complimentary prosecco and a beer. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and served to order. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would come again.

Fantastic 'olde world' feel, oozes atmosphere. We stayed in a double (called George) and it was perfect for our needs after a local wedding; it was compact in terms of size but had everything you needed. Love the decor, really homely. The staff were super friendly and helpful when we needed to drop our bags before official check-in - we went to the wedding and found our bags in the room, perfect. It was also easy to get in after hours with clear instructions. The breakfast was excellent also (the veggie shakshuka was delicious) and the supplied coffees, teas and even a beer in the room, were brilliant touches. We didn't eat or drink at the venue but I can only imagines that the food and drink will be as good as the staff and the feeling of the place. We're already talking about when we can book another stay to explore the area.

I'm very tall (6ft 3in) so did bang my head on a few beams - this is a historic building so has low ceilings and uneven floors. But that's character, just remember to look up! We didn't sleep that well but that was more to do with a boozy night than a bad bed - the bed and quilt were excellent - but the emptying of bottles from the bar at 8am did wake us, but it's a working pub so to be expected to a degree. Anyone arriving by car, the parking is limited (and tight) so could pose a problem for large vehicles (you're better off parking round the corner TBH).
