Staff were lovely and friendly. Room was huge and air conditioned. Beds were comfortable. Food at the pub was nice with a varied menu. Breakfast was large portions. Lots of parking. Nice places to sit inside and outside. Not far away from the Harry Potter experience near Watford but felt very rural there. They have other rooms set away from the pub which were probably much quieter.
There was an event on in the room below our bedroom (room 9) and in the garden beside our window. Not informed of this until I checked in and it was too late to make other arrangements. Band went on until 10.30 then other music until 12. So we didn't get the best night's sleep. I did mention it in the morning and the girl on reception apologised but it did spoil our experience.

A beautiful stay & big family lunch with The Bedford Arms. Despite it being an extremely busy hot Father's day the service was fantastic and our lunch really well enjoyed for our big mixed age group. We ate in the restaurant to start and then desserts outside in the stunning gardens.. service was attentive in both areas. The room was really very lovely, carefully designed in English country hotel style, immaculately presented, a very comfortable bed, lovely linens - minibar with a great selection of drinks & snacks, powerful shower and all perfectly clean.
Not really a dislike, more a bit difficult to navigate - It was very busy as Father's day and there were alot of children running wild in the pretty small grassland next to the wraparound outdoor seating areas - some of the young apple trees took a beating with kids throwing sticks to get young fruit down... the unsupervised vibe had its own dynamic

This was as good a hotel as we have ever stayed at. We could not fault any aspect. Very friendly welcoming check-in after long drive. Characterful building with some lovely classic features like armorial glass, amazing classical fireplaces etc.. it describes itself as “a country pub with rooms”. It is that but can equally be described as “a hotel of excellent quality”. First-floor room was spacious, cosily furnished, quiet, clean and well-appointed, lovely outlook over the gardens, excellent en-suite facilities with walk-in shower, rain-head etc. All necessary tea and coffee making facilities, easily controllable air-con. and, particularly important to us, windows capable of being opened sufficiently to allow plenty of fresh air. Very comfortable wide bed, ample storage space and high quality television. Down-stairs, ample car-parking, spacious bar and restaurant areas but lots or intimate corners, bay windows etc. if you like seclusion. Food, evening meal and breakfast, were both very good with wide choice of menu, promptly served by most attentive staff. In fact all the staff, without exception, were first class, friendly, happy, highly competent, well- turned out, a credit to the establishment.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and on the ground floor which was helpful for us older folk with limited mobility! Snacks in the room were very welcome. Breakfast was excellent, in a beautiful dining room with attentive staff and good choice of food and drinks.
On arrival we were given the room key and told we had to go outside again to get to our room.(It was pouring with rain at the time!) No instructions were given about breakfast, but we assumed we would find this information in our accommodation. However, this was not the case. The facilities would have probably been fantastic if we had instructions for the coffee machine, Wi-fi, and breakfast arrangements, and had we known whether or not the wine provided was complimentary!. Several fruit tea bags were provided but only two of English Breakfast tea. A cleaning cloth had also been left in the bathroom sink when we arrived, and no spare toilet roll had been supplied. It was a shame that a stay in such beautiful surroundings was marred by basic Customer Service issues.

breakfast was great and fresh room was clean and well decorated
There were two inconsiderate guests staying in the other room that left there tv on full blast all night - they were elderly and had a good drink- but had no regard for others staying within the vicinity- so the rooms are not sound profred- we should of reported it to reception but even when i knocked the door in the morning to politely keep the noise down no care was given .

Lovely building with character and charm and not too far from home
Some of the staff let this hotel down. We have stayed here twice now and the front of house who has ‘welcomed’ us both times has the personality of a wet mop. Also gave no information of timings for breakfast, or what time kitchen shut at night. We only just made it in time to get dinner and had to ask about breakfast. Such a shame as the hotel is lovely, just needs better front of house.

The hotel building itself is really lovely and the room’s are decorated beautifully. The quality of the decor and furnishings is really high and it really is very stylish. Gorgeous toiletries too. The outside gardens and table areas are amazing, with lots of fairy light/ and lanterns in the evening. It’s quite magical! The food in the restaurant is super tasty (breakfast and dinner). And service with a smile (thanks Nish!)

The rooms are stunning- beautifully decorated, quality upholstery and impeccably clean. Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. They take time to make your stay special and make you feel looked after. As a solo traveller, that’s so welcome. Food is excellent too. I found myself googling the area to see what’s here so I can find a reason to come and stay again!

Lovely decor and atmosphere. Nicely furnished big bedroom and warm on arrival.
When we arrived the person on reception was dealing with another customer who wanted to change rooms - he took him upstairs to show him the new room, came back downstairs and changed details on the system to issue new room keys before even acknowledging our presence. Not good customer service

Great room exceptionally well appointed. Quiet despite being over main bar/restaurant.
Meal. Did not complain as tired and hungry. Overcooked battered fish with minuscule portion of mushy peas. Steak and kidney pie good but served on cold mash; limited vegetable option - cabbage or broccoli. Alterations to building mean many bar /restaurant area is very open and echos with noise of jovial groups - we asked to be moved to the quieter restaurant area,
