The hotel is basic but clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Room was good , with tea, coffee and kettle all clean and enough for two . The building itself needs a bit of repair work done on the outside. But the is being addressed slowly
Window was cloudy and needs replacing . An Ash try on the wall outside the front door is immediately outside the window of room, so smokers gather there . Suggest it is moved and smokers requested nit to stand there as the can see into the room which is a bit concerning , for a lady travelling alone.

The location was good, staff were friendly and the hotel and room was very clean.
Unfortunately on this occasion we were given room number 1 and we felt that it was too close to the entrance. We were made aware,on arrival, that there was an 18th birthday celebration that night and we were disturbed as guests were leaving the party we could here groups outside the window and shouting and running down the corridors in the early hours of the morning. We feel that in a different room we would not have heard this commotion. We reported this when checking out.

The room was very nice, clean and warm , -3C outside very warm and cozy inside . The bed was very comfortable and clean, 4 pillows were available and 3 towels . The shower was spotless, toilet & hand basin also clean. All in all very happy and satisfied with everything, I particularly enjoyed the full English breakfast that was included in the price really nice breakfast well cooked and as much tea or coffee you need.
Some guests arrive at the last minute before the last check in time, slightly disturbing if wanting an early night to bed. Car doors shutting too loudly, no consideration for other guests

Food was very good and reasonably priced, the staff were excellant and the room was adequate for our purposes. The on site parking was brilliant and for us we would rather travel to the outskirts of a city and have free parking than pay exorbitant hotel parking charges, or worse, have to use public car parks in the city. The Birch was fairly quiet throughout which we enjoyed however the main entrance could do with an improved closer as it was noticeable when it was used.
We stayed in room three and the room had suffered from a leak around the shower which had impacted the room and although it was repaired it really requires to be made good to a lot higher standard than it is currently. It is the little things that can have a major impact on the hotels revenue. Also entry into the room was difficult and it was almost as if the lock had been fitted upside down but maybe that was just down to the operators!

The public areas were well maintained and the staff were all welcoming. Bed was very comfortable
The room had a couple of broken fixtures and the shower was difficult to get into - I’m a little overweight and it was a squeeze to get in the gap between the doors. There was a coil of wire and broken socket by the bed and the top of the (footless) wardrobe was very dusty - as I discovered when I stored my empty luggage on it. I booked a double and got a twin - no big deal. Also the restaurant was shut on BH Monday - fortunately I had brought my own food for that evening but could have struggled if I hadn’t. There was no mention of the restaurant’s closure when I booked online

The room was nicely decorated and was more than big enough for a solo traveller. Some toiletries were provided, also great tea and coffee facilities. There were extra pillows and there was sufficient space to hang clothes in the wardrobe and also to store suitcases out the way within the room. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and it was great to have free parking.
There was a layer of dust on the shelf next to the bed - it wasn't thick but looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week. The toilet roll holder was loose so the toilet rolls kept falling off and there was nowhere to hang clothes in the bathroom when having a shower.

Location, decor, gardens and the price. It’s close enough to Manchester, so we were able to attend our concert and come back to sleep here and avoid paying the very expensive Machesster city centre prices. We enjoyed breakfast, though very basic, it was the atmosphere and served by a very lovely gentleman. Sometimes just one person can make such a big difference!
Not having anyone at the reception is not great especially when you have occasions such as weddings, people needing to check in late after events, can be problematic, but these are small issues and can be resolved by communicating with guest earlier etc. we all understand the need to cut costs therefore cutting prices.

The beds were comfortable, breakfast was really tasty. I would stay here again if ever in the area. Room was a little bit dated but so clean and comfortable. All in all, a lovely stay.
When we arrived there was a party going on which is fine. The music was so incredibly loud, I could barely hear the receptionist and could feel the vibrations, I understand there is music at a party but this was too loud. We were told though that it would be finished by 9pm and it was so rocky start but it did end up ok

Nice room, really friendly staff, parking and nice garden.
The door handle to my room was loose and the door in general gave a bad first impression. There are no blinds/nets at the window which overlooks the entrance so you have to have the curtains closed in the day time unless you want everyone coming and going at the hotel to see you in your room.

All went well, receptionist very pleasant and thoughtful as were all the staff. The surrounds were clean and attractive and well kept, I would definitely stay again when next in the area, thank you.
In the room I stayed in the sink tap fittings were very loose and there does need to be a serviceable toilet roll holder, (Room 19). This didn’t distract from the pleasant stay and they are easy fixes.
