Everything was excellent. The room was large and comfortable and very clean. The location is close to all public transport links and has a very large car park. The hotel has its own bar and restaurant which were both very well ran and look amazing with a great choice of drinks and food. Breakfast was brilliant with both continental and a menu of hot dishes served to your table, they even provided a special off menu dish for my daughter. The one thing that stood out at this hotel was the service it was excellent!! The staff were all so friendly and helpful I will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The bathroom was modern, loved the shower cubicle. The view from our window was very pleasant. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly nothing was too much trouble. Had a very good meal in the restaurant on Saturday evening & although we booked last minute the staff went over & above to meet our needs

The room was naturally quite dark because of the age & style of the building, but there were plenty of lights in the room to compensate. There was nowhere in the bathroom to hang anything. The towels were small & not very thick. For me the bed was a little hard but that's very much a personal thing

I booked my grandparents in here for two nights. They really enjoyed their stay. The hotel & rooms were spotless & comfortable. Friendly staff sorted out a minor issue upon check in efficiently. Staff were friendly throughout the hotel, from bar staff, cleaners to management. We have stayed here many times over the years and always enjoy the stay.

The bar / restaurant is need of a make over, it hasnt been updated in many years. The reception area & rooms have been modernised and look really nice. Rooms were nice a cool during the unexpected hot weather.

We booked at the last minute and the room was comfortable. We did not have time to eat, but had a drink in the bar, which we enjoyed. It had a lovely atmosphere. It was quiet in the room, and facilities to make a hot drink, were available and bottles water.

The bathroom looked tired and needed refurbishment, but it was clean. I had a vegetarian breakfast and the vegetarian sausage was overcooked. The buffet part of the breakfast was good, but not so much the cooked element. My husband had kippers, and he enjoyed those.

The bar and restaurant were lovely and the food we ate at lunchtime was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming and all worked hard. The bed was also comfortable and it was nice to have tea and coffee and a bottle of water in the room.

The room was cold but soon warmed up when we adjusted the heater. The bath towels were on the small side and a shelf in the bathroom would have been good to store toiletries. Our room overlooked the bins , but we were only there 1 night so that didn’t matter too much. Only minor niggles, but would definitely stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were helpful and pleasant, and despite the fact the restaurant was very busy, they still managed to provide good service. The food was good and the breakfast had a really good selection. Our room was warm , quiet and comfortable. We would stay at this hotel again.

Cannot fault the hotel at all really, if I had to be really picky I would say the room was a little dark and would benefit from more lights. Apart from that, we were very happy with our stay and would stay again.

Excellent location and parking. Good to have electric car charging although I didn’t need it. Good size room and bathroom. Comfortable big bed. Easy access to the bar and dining room. Good price bar and food with good quality.

Slightly odd location of towel rails near the bath. No grab handles to aid entry and exit. Bedroom aircon would have been welcome. Although the lift is most welcome, it holds the (my) record for the slowest lift in a hotel.

This place should have Landmark Status, a tribute to the way things used to be in the UK, and how they still should be. The amazing incredible kind and hard working staff, the rooms, water pressure, wi-fi, bar service, amazing restaurants and the price/value are just simply exceptional. I felt like Royalty at The Royal Toby.

Excellent breakfast choice and well cooked. Brilliant staff in the dining room and a beautiful environment. Everywhere spotless with a really dedicated team of cleaning staff. All staff very friendly and helpful. Room spacious and comfortable. Plenty of parking. Great bar area and staff. Whole place has individual character and well placed for visits out.

Reception staff fine but not as outstanding as other staff. Could use instructions on how to operate the bath/shower control - had never encountered the particular set up so an interesting first use! Ground floor rooms a little dark but not a problem.
