Had an amazing stay here in October. The hotel is stunning! I booked for my partner's birthday and we received a complimentary upgrade on arrival, and a birthday card in the room which was really lovely of the staff! The room was beautiful. We had a balcony that overlooked the water and complimentary gin. We used the Spa facilities which were fab and ate at the restaurant. The food was quite expensive but it was worth it! We only had a continental breakfast with our booking so we upgraded to a cooked breakfast which was equally as good. The hotel is also really close to the shops so it took us only a couple of minutes to get there. I will definitely be hoping to come back here again in the future and really reccomend it!

Location was great and view from room was excellent

This was the breakfast….due to booking.com not making it clear it was only continental.there is on page 4 of the confirmation after booking that it was….after the parking issue and I did not notice. Several customers who booked this way were also not expecting a continental breakfast……! I suggest that booking.com makes it clear before you book that this is the case to save the issue being raised with the hotel……their site has it on the front page…..

The views were spectacular! Amazing location Beds were the most comfortable I've EVER slept in Beautiful room although if I stay again I'll get one with a view Was really clean as I have terrible ocd and in the room I couldn't falt anything The spa was nice I would 100% stay again All the staff was LOVELY

Breakfast was lovely although you had to pay extra for cooked breakfast and this wasn't stated when booking the room The parking was a nightmare, although the parking assistant did take care of that perfectly for me All meals have a 12.5% add-on charge, but the service was great, but you pay such a lot for the hotel, tbh This shouldn't be extra, especially for guests And I just wish the balcony area was kept a bit more clean, especially the glass. Other than that, it would have been a 10

The hotel was gorgeous, set perfectly in the middle of town and yet right by the river. Despite the narrow nature of the towns streets, which makes parking a challenge, the hotel had a very well managed private car park, complete with an attendant to manage it and move cars if necessary. The hotel was beautifully laid out, with reception right by the automated entrance doors from the car park. The restaurant, terrace and lounge were all conveniently on that level. The room was perfectly appointed and spotless. Their swimming pool and sauna were very relaxing and well laid out with semi private curtained booths. The views over the river were gorgeous from many angles, especially the restaurant and terrace, and yet you could walk into town within minutes. The restaurant food was top notch as was the breakfast. The staff were all, without exception, superb.

There was nothing to not like.

Very comfortable with beautiful bedlinen and powerful shower. Nice extras with gin and tonic complimentary in the bedroom. Perfect setting overlooking the estuary which we could appreciate whilst we ate our breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely to sit on the verandah for a coffee in the sunshine.

That the breakfast was continental and that you had to pay extra for a full English. Given the price of the room, think this should have been included or at least specified at the time.

Beautiful hotel with excellent staff. Could not have asked for more or better. On arrival, was helped with luggage from car. Car was parked for us and (without us expecting or asking for this), our electric car was plugged into a charger which we thought was exceptionally thoughtful service. The restaurant staff were wonderful, especially as we had a 4 month old with us - they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and make our lives easy, including fast tracking our dinner orders proactively so that we could enjoy our meal before baby's bedtime. Alex in the restaurant was particularly friendly. Another really wonderful surprise was that one of their chefs is extremely knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to preparing gluten free baked goods and dishes. I have Coeliac disease and have never had this much choice in a hotel - every morning there were freshly made GF blueberry muffins, cranberry & sultana muffins (delicious!!) and banana bread and the restaurant menu was largely GF accommodation without ever compromising on flavour. Some very skilled cooking in this kitchen! The team at reception were extremely kind and helpful, the "ice and slice" service for the complimentary afternoon G&T a real treat and the pool was wonderful. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as part of a longer trip through the South West during which we stayed at 5* hotels and thought that the Harbour Hotel was by far the best (despite "only" being 4*). Excellent value for money when compared to some of the other hotels. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so memorable - we hope to return annually and make this a family tradition with our son.

Whilst our room was beautiful, it was very warm at night. However, a fan had been provided in the closet, so we managed.

Beautiful hotel in stunning setting. We were going for my Partner’s 50th Birthday and the reception team upgraded us to a sea/estuary view room which was right across from the light display we had come to visit so we didn’t even need to leave the room to see it. Staff very friendly. Bindi on Reception was really helpful. Spa was lovely. Fantastic stay would come again

I have mobility problems and the walk in the dark to the harbour up/down hills and climbing steps no good for me. We stayed at the hotel for the night as I wouldn’t have managed to climb the hill/steps.

The general manager and all the staff in the restaurant were very helpful and caring

The room service staff in our view were careless and did not reflect the quality of the other services provided by the hotel. We also thought that the breakdown of the computer system caused unnecessary problems for the hotel by allowing the spa to be unable to accept bookings although in our case the general manager organized sessions for us and our family during the breakdown. The general manager was extremely efficient and helpful

Location was fantastic in the estuary and our room overlooked the water. Stunning views. Reception staff welcoming. Food at breakfast was good. Ate dinner on first night and it was freshly cooked and well presented. Spa was great and treatment very relaxing.

The offer of complimentary gin is misleading as we only had gin in our room on day one of three. The toilet pan seemed very low - my husband is a plumber and said it should have been fixed higher for the average height person. Light switches took a bit of getting used to as they were not simple on/off.

The Harbour Hotel Salcombe is a lovely hotel with a beautiful outlook overlooking the estuary. We stayed in a room with a view and a balcony and loved being able to sit and watch life on the water. The bed in the room was super-comfortable. The location of the hotel is great - at one end of Salcombe and within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants. The staff in the hotel, restaurant and spa were all exceptional. The hotel is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing few days.

Although being described as 35m2, our room was considerably smaller than this. At a guess I'd estimate more like 25m2. This made things a tight squeeze for us as we had quite a bit of luggage.
