All of the staff were efficient welcoming and friendly. The building facilities were very good. Nice room with excellent bathroom. The pre-booked afternoon tea, which we received as an anniversary gift, was excellent and good value for money. We just had a sandwich platter for two in the evening which was also excellent and very good value for money. Breakfast was also very good. However, we did not eat in the restaurant as we had an superb, and large, steak pie meal at the nearest pub, the Bricklayer's Arms in Laxton, on the second night. The grounds were pleasant. A private hire car all the way from Howden to Laxton to pick us up from the Briclayer's Arms to take us back to the Hall cost £25. However, it was "Pie Night" in the pub the following night and a lady, Shelley, who was a customer in the pub offered to come and collect us from the Hall and to the pub and back again afterwards. Absolute angel. All the locals were friendly people and the pub was a real gem. The home made pie was big and tasty.

It was too far from anywhere and there was nothing to do on site. The walk to the nearest pub was a one hour real treck on foot. Local taxi services are almost non-existent. Everything! The property was stunning including the surroundings grounds. The Hall has been refurbished to a very high standard and has a wonderful, homely, yet opulent atmosphere. We loved that there are some original features remaining including the kitchen ovens etc

Nothing regarding the property. Our only slight negative comment would be related to the music, it could be heard from our bedroom constantly and when in such peaceful, stunning countryside to hear the birds is sometimes all you need.

Came for a brunch event and decided to make a night and stay over for it, was a lovely event and the food was amazing we booked an evening meal too when we checked in and had breakfast. Honestly the ground was lovely too and so was the room.

After we had finished the event for brunch we went to sit outside in the outdoor seating and there was no one for a while to come take our order for drinks, service was a little slow on that bit, other than that everything else was perfect.

Location peaceful. Liked having the river so close Pleasent and helpful staff Very clean throughout Grounds lovely we were here in winter but they must be stunning in summer Liked sitting in the library by the open fire Cosily decorated for Christmas Good menu choices for dinner Good value wine Breakfast tasty and well presented with good coffee

Room and corridors too hot because the weather had been mild It is remote and roads not good so would advise arriving in daylight

We often use Saltmarsh Hall for accommodations for work trips in the area. It's a beautiful old picturesque estate. Great breakfast and good standard. I would imagine it would be perfect for weddings and similar events.

The location could do well with a hotel gym and/or earlier opening hours for the pool to compete with similar priced hotels. All in all a good location to stay.

Great room, very well appointed and quite. Excellent bar. Restaurant was simply outstanding. Food was beautiful prepared and presented. Easy access and excellent car parking space. This place is a real find. Very friendly staff. The hotel is simply wonderful and equally so the surrounding grounds for walking.

This hotel is of exceptional value. The surroundings are picturesque, and if you get a sunny day, there is an outdoor pool in a secret-walled garden. Who could ask for more? There is a good choice for breakfast, which is always served with a smile.

The rooms could do with air conditioning on a hot day.

Uniquely appointed property with very different rooms available. The Laxton had the most amazing marble surround period bath and has to be seen/used to really get a feel for what living in a property like this must have been like. The property has retained lots of original features and isn’t a busy thoroughfare like some many hotels which is why I perhaps felt so relaxed.

Please add on an extra hour/half hour for breakfast / checking out at weekends so we can enjoy it for just that tiny bit longer!

This hotel is a total gem. The food is terrific, I have eaten around the world and was blown away by the flavour presentation and attention to detail, the staff were attentive and friendly the Saltmarsh Suite elegant, comfortable and such a feeling of peace, I never wanted to leave! I just wanted to keep pretending it was my house! you have to go!

New developments should see the conversion of some lovely buildings out the back into a spa facilities and changing rooms for the pool. Now that would be a really lovely conversion of old garden buildings into something special to accompany the wonderful main house.Year round pool open? That really would be the icing on the cake.

Stunning property in a tranquil area, lovely staff, breakfast and a whole quality feel to the place.

Cold water in gardeners cottage that was compensated immediately actually enhancing the experience in the way it was dealt with - hey we all have boiler problems occassionally.
