The landlord was a very jovial and welcoming host who was happy for us to park at the hotel well before check-in time. The pub itself is a lovely old stone-built establishment with a more modern (but very sympathetic) annexe conversion. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, and the village and surrounding countryside provide a wonderful setting. The local bus route is a real bonus, connecting the Star to destinations further afield.

Our one grumble concerned the toilet which was rather cramped for space, due to the configuration of the alcove where it is situated. However, everything else about this charming pub was excellent!

Very friendly and helpful host. Nice to have a separate entrance to the suite. Nice bedlinen and bathroom. Room was in good decorative order and had convenient bedside tables and plug sockets. The living room was attractive and comfortable. It was a great location for us as we were visiting our son who has recently relocated to Stroud. We had breakfast at the volunteer run community cafe and shop. Very reasonable price and friendly volunteers.

There are a few little touches that would make this accommodation perfect; the towels were a little threadbare and not very big - bath sheets would be preferable. There was no soap at the handbasin so we had to use shower gel. The light above the bathroom mirror didn’t work so it wasn’t very good lighting for putting on makeup. These are minor issues which could easily by rectified then I would highly recommend this place 😊

Super-friendly owners George and Grace gave us a warm, personal welcome. Attractive old stone building with modern, comfortable rooms inside. Excellent breakfast (not included in price) and meals available. Pub attached to hotel has a great country vibe (and good selection of ales). Located a bit outside Stroud but easily accessible by car (good parking) or taxi. Close to the Cotswolds Way. Highly recommended!

Everything was fine, no complaints.

Fantastic location. Stunning views and great dog walks. Comfy and clean bedroom and ensuite. Friendly and helpful landlord. Nearby community cafe was great for a lovely cooked breakfast.

There was nowhere in walking distance for an evening meal so it would have been better if the pub served a selection of meals. However, there was pizza on offer which saved the day and I understand the kitchen was being refurbished so I hope a range of meals will be offered in future.

Friendly owners and staff. I was able to check in later than usual, as I was involved in an event in town. The bar was lovely and oldy worldy. Room was warm and cosy and clean. Lots of tea and coffee.

Bathroom was a bit cramped, but the room was in an annexe and the buildings are historic, so I think the conversion meant squeezing facilities in, wherever they could. Still ok though.

The hosts were very welcoming. It was actually their wedding reception on the day we arrived and they could easily have cancelled our booking to accommodate their own guests. Instead they let us know a couple of weeks before so we were aware that it might be noisy. They were new to this particular premises but everything ran smoothly and there was always someone available.

Very friendly owner, Grace and George took over the Star Inn this spring, working on improvements and thankful for tipps. Food was delicious (the Greek Chef 🙂). Room was spacious with lots of storage. The Star Inn is located close to the Cotswolds.

Some minor improvements still need to be done (hooks or towel rack in the bathroom), reading lights beside the bed.

The room was nice and roomy with lovely views and clean bathroom. The people seemed very pleasant and helpful.

We were surprised to find although we had booked a suite room that the kitchenette was not completed - not plumbed in and no taps. The bed was also very soft. However, we were only staying one night so it didn’t really matter.

Cottage for three had plenty of room and nice big window seats to set our luggage. It was quiet and dark at night. Staff was very helpful to answer our questions.

We were hiking the Cotswold Way and found it surprising that it was very difficult to get to the Star Inn from the Cotswold Way. Although there are many footpaths in this area, it was difficult to get information ahead of time as to which footpaths to take to get to the Star Inn.
