It’s set on the river with some nice views. The hotel is above an excellent Italian restaurant and shares access to an outdoor terrace on the river front where the restaurant has live music some evenings (music finished before 10pm) The hotel does not offer breakfast but guests have use of a fully equipped kitchen and bread, cereal, tea, coffee, milk etc are all provided.

Access to the hotel is by a rather steep staircase so if you’re travelling with a lot of luggage or large sporting equipment or have mobility issues then this may not be the place for you.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Boars Head Boutique. Diane was lovely and very helpful. We stayed in the Laurel and Hardy Suite which overlooked the River Wear. It was so beautiful with amazing views. We were happy with the shared kitchen where you had facilities to help yourself to breakfast cereals (plenty of choice) bread for toast with all the appliances (toaster/kettle/microwave with a dining table also tea/coffee and hot chocolate. Diane also explained to us about the beautiful Italian restaurant downstairs called Knowledge it is open daily except for Tuesdays where they are closed. Knowledge also serves array of beverages including soft drinks/cocktails/beers and wines and much more. We watched the sunset over the river and beautifully lit up and lights reflections along the stunning Riverside. A beautiful location and we'd definitely love to come back soon!

There was the anything we didn't like it was outstanding 6 rooms our suite was beautiful.

No cooked breakfast however a fantastic little kitchen with everything you need for breakfast, cereal/toast etc. The room was lovely, very old building so the old beams etc. Lovely big bathroom, clean fresh fluffy towels. The view to the left from the window was beautiful. It's a beautiful very old building, felt like we had stepped back in time. The old staircase extremely steep with very thin steps could be a challenge for some.

The area isn't great a bit dingy and made us worry about the car being left there. (It was actually perfectly fine) the view from the window was lovely in one direction, ships and docks the other way. Cobwebs in the beams in the room, however we don't mind this, nature at its best, but some might. The beds were very soft, not massively uncomfortable but could have been better.

Location for riverside on the south side ideal. Lovely relaxed environment, amazing riverside views from the rooms. Comfortable bed, spacious room. Friendly staff and helpful. Diana especially the owner ,very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend at very reasonable prices on a budget. Not recommended for wheelchair users steep stair way on to first floor. But they help with cases and bags if needed when checking in and if you leave when the cleaner is around in the morning. Near the student accommodations for St Peters riverside. With the port in the distance. Thank you for a lovely stay I will be back if I need to be close by but look forward to returning to the restaurant for delicious food

Location in someway but nothing against owner

The host was absolutely incredible. Lovely, friendly, polite, clear and just amazing with my daughter. Met on site, given keys and shown how things are in the hotel. A beautiful touch was passing some pocket money to my daughter which is really out of the blue and such a lovely touch. My daughter thinks everyone in Sunderland is lovely now, all because of the host. Thank you. Location is 15mins walk from all you need in the city, and close to the stadium, tram lines and bars. Restaurant below if you need food on door step.

Nothing. It was spot on.

A little gem of a place. We were greeted by Diana who could not have been friendlier. Our rooms were spotless and very cosy. The beds were very comfortable and one room had a lovely view over the river. The location was great, with parking, and we were within walking distance of the city centre and the Stadium of Light. We were well provided with all we needed for breakfast in the well equipped communal kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay and would book again. The restaurant below was also very good. Delightful staff, excellent cocktails and good Italian food.

It was in an excellent location with ready access to city centre or numerous local beaches. Beautiful view over the river too.

One of the windows needs curtains as the early morning sun woke us up at 5:30 😴 The small kettle in the room needed replacing as it was full of limescale and far past its best. However there was another kettle to use in the breakfast room anyway, so it was no issue 😁 The shower controls weren't the easiest to control so it was either pretty cold or too hot, but managed to work around it.

We was only one night but we are very happy. Our room looks very nice. Was small and lovely. In room was good temperature. We had lots towels. In hotel very nice woman (owner this hotel) showed everything what Is where. She showed me kitchen and propose free quick breakfast. (all what is good to quick eat on the morning - coffee, tea, cereals with milk, tosts with jam.) From the kitchen you can go to tarrace when is incredible view for city, bridge, river, harbour and glass museum) to city center is 10min walking. She is very helpful woman! :) We had problem with car and she very quick organised engineer for us. Very Thanks!!! Me and my fionce very recommend this place :)

Where can I start, Diana the diamond made our stay! She went the extra mile to show myself and my brother around the property which was very quirky. I found this a very nice touch as Diana was extremely passionate about the business and the Italian restaurant next door.I really enjoyed the views over the river and the rooms were very clean and had everything you would need. There was a shared kitchen which had complimentary cereals, milk, tea, coffee and bread.

N/A - I really enjoyed my short stay.

Diane was amazing - we were delayed and she came and booked us in at 11pm - and she did it with a smile - the rooms were lovely and the view across the river from the little terrace was just magical. i had gone for my daughters graduation and it was within easy walk of the stadium

there was nothing I didn't like - there was even access to an iron and a hairdryer :) the stairs up to the rooms are very steep - they are from the original building and you are walking in history - but be aware
