From start to finish we were made to feel welcome and valued. The room was spacious and well appointed, great toiletries too. Breakfast was pleasant and staff were more than happy to help with any alternatives if wanted. The staff were all very friendly without being imposing. My husband had just had surgery and Kieron the food and beverage supervisor kindly provided ice wraps to control the swelling. Every member of staff was happy and they all seemed to actually enjoy their job. Hotel is located very close to train and bus station.
It's a shame that there is no parking or no parking concession but that is not the hotels fault. No subtitles on TVs in rooms which was disappointing however, the team are working on this and they will be available very soon.

Good accommodation. Decent breakfast. Friendly staff. Clean hotel overall.
No parking facility (not even a space reserved to the hotel where you can load/unload your luggage) and no discount on (expensive) parking lots nearby : this should be looked at ! We mentioned it at check out. When we arrived in the evening after our first day, a quite rude young lady was in front of our door and claimed we had taken her room (which she even entered without asking) ... She was with 2 elder people (parents I think). The father even told us that her luggage was in our room while it was our luggage (?). Apparently the young women occupied that room till the day before and thought she still had the room. I thing either they or the hotel management made a mistake her ... Never experienced this in a hotel before.

New hotel so all facilities are great. It is very obvious that it was built for business visitors with number of plugs, usb sockets and table space for more than one laptop.
Be aware that there is no hotel parking. The two nearest recommended car parks cost around 15 pounds. On our second day breakfast was so busy as the hotel was fully booked and all cooked items were slow to arrive. Also all other breakfast items needed to be replenished. I also noticed some tables had no salt jars and the once that did were nearly empty. Finally at times there was only one young lady working, looking after guests from booking them in, to replenishing food and serving at the bar.

Good location, lovely open downstairs seating area, good quick quiet lifts, a nice comfortable room with good linen and supplies, and a lovely shower. I dealt with 6 members of reception during my stay. Each of them was helpful beyond belief, and dealt with me in a friendly and polite way. One recommended some sights I should visit during my stay, which was greatly appreciated and carried out, and I wasn’t disappointed
I would have appreciated a more comprehensive tv system, the YouTube app is present, but we’ve all got Netflix or NowTV or Amazon Prime, a greater selection of streaming apps would have been great

Lovely clean hotel, spacious rooms, nice breakfast included. Lovely, friendly staff, we were staying there as we went to see pink in Sunderland and the hotel had made a real effort for the fans, pink songs playing in reception and they had even done a welcome letter that included pink song titles it was genius ! All the staff were so friendly, the cleaner said hello as we passed her in the corridor the lady at breakfast took time to ask us if we enjoyed the concert even though it was really busy. We will definitely be choosing this hotel next time we visit Sunderland
Nothing it was all great

Hotel was good location and the whole reason we stayed over was because of the beyonce concert so we loved that staff members had beyonce t shirts on and that beyonce cardboard cut outs was in the reception. Also just want to mention that the breakfast was lovely and the chef (think his name was phil) was absolutly brilliant. He offered to bring some freshly done fried eggs out for us and brought them to our table. I heard him offering to bring eggs out for people on other tables as well which I really thought was going above and beyond for all of the guests. Reception staff was also friendly but didn't catch any names unfortunately
It's hard to say because we only stayed one night. We didn't really have any issues and everything was up to an excellent standard.

Location great, having come up from London Kings Cross by train to watch Watford take on Sunderland (2-2 draw!). The two ladies at breakfast were great - very pleasant, fun and flirty. The male chef was very helpful - even came up to our table with a fresh plate of hash browns for my brother and me to take. Every part of the hotel was spotless and the maids who serviced the room did a great job. Late bar was handy and not too expensive, given that hotel bars usually are. Not related to the hotel but the price of beer in the city's pubs was amazing cheap compared to Hertfordshire or London prices!
Narrow window w, that you couldn't open, with a dull view wasn't great. Although it did mean that we had no exterior noise disturbing us. Probably could do with a few more tables in the restaurant area.

This is our first time staying at a Holiday Inn and we are not disappointed! I stayed for one night with my 10yr old daughter (Beyonce concert) & had a really positive experience. The hotel is ideally positioned for local venues. It's a new hotel.. clean, bright and comfortable. Breakfast was exceptional, great choice with a kind and helpful chef... nothing was too much trouble. The best thing about the place is the staff... Warm, welcoming, genuine people who made our stay really special.. They made a fuss of the little one who loved the attention! All were lovely, sorry we didn't get all of your names but Andrea was amazing at breakfast and my little girl loved the chat. Thanks all, hope to return one day.
For a new hotel I hoped that it would have better soundproofing between room and corridor. Couldn't find any obvious W/Cs downstairs however I may have just missed them and didn't ask if any.

The staff were fantastic, I was looking for a monument. The staff knew exactly where it was, and explained how to get there quickly. They were so helpful. The next day they asked me if I found it. The room was very comfortable, it was a good size. You could choose pillows. The towels were a good big size. The shower was a good size and very good. The curtains had Velcro on the sides so light doesn't get in.
The room was on the square and so the advertisement sign changes regularly so the light in the room changes. I thought it was lighting.

Everything we got lost and could not find the hotel because of the one-way system. We called the hotel, and a lovely gentleman called Chris came to our aid. He got into our car and directed us straight to the hotel and parking. What an amazing thing to do he went above and beyond for us, and we we were truly grateful. Thank you, Chris.
Nothing. the hotel was spotless, fabulous breakfast and lovely staff. Perfect location for our visit to the stadium of life, which is only a 15-20min walk away. I would definitely recommend this hotel. And I would absolutely return.
