Brilliant place to stay for a short trip, very reasonably priced, staff excellent Liked · We had a twin roon on the 1st night, and a double room on the 2nd night (as we booked them separately. The rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy, spacious and had everything one needed. Reception offered to place my husband's medication in their fridge. All the staff were very courteous and polite, explained how to get to lift to get upstairs(at least 2 lifts at property. Oddicombe bay was only a short walk away, takeaway chippy was close, about 1/4 mile. Was able to park at coach parking on 1st night as no coaches there, 2nd night parked on road side
Limited road side parking

The room was clean. Breakfast was good.
The man on the check-in was quite rude. I don't get why I had to give my full driving licence number on a check-in form when my driving licence is a picture one. Also, full payment had already been made through booking.com before our arrival. He basically said if I didn't, he would refuse us to stay there. I have travelled all over the world and uk many times and have never had to give this information. I only gave it under duress. Not happy to give out this personal information. Also He had my address on the booking form. So I really don't get this.

The location near the cliffs was wonderful. The price was very competitive and there was everything you need including a bar and nightly entertainment which of course would be a matter of personal preference. The staff were helpful and the rooms were a reasonable size with everything working. I think the rating I saw before I arrived was unfairly low considering the price and the facilities.
This is an example of a decent size hotel past its best. Everything works but some parts could do with refurbishment. The WiFi isn't free, there is no daily cleaning of rooms and the lift was out of order when I arrived though it was repaired after a couple of days. The food seemed slightly expensive compared to the surrounding area but there is a room only rate so you have a choice. It is however a perfectly good base for someone who is exploring the area.

We had a really lovely stay, hotel a little dated but everything was great , especially the evening's entertainment, location was great too & we was lucky we had a week of glorious weather , we will definitely be back next year
Not much really , apart from they didnt replenish the tea & coffee & loo roll or towels , you had to collect from the reception & also the entertainment finished at 10 , we would have enjoyed it a bit more if it was on till 11 & maybe a late bar , also WiFi was rubbish but we enjoyed it nevertheless

After reading the reviews I was dreading the stay and even took my own bedding and towels. But the hotel towels were new, fluffy white ones. The bedding was clean and had been ironed. The hotel is old but you can see that they are doing up the rooms in stages. The bathroom had new tiles and the shower was new. The walls and carpets were in need of renovation. But the stay for one night was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. It was value for money for what I paid.
Still some areas that are in need of renovation. There’s only one lift and it’s difficult to climb the narrow stairs to the top floors.

Room's were as expected for the price, sizable and large bathroom, and definitely clean. We had live music both nights we were there, good.
Parking, no off street parking, so you do have to drive around and find some street parking which is free for once. Over night when we were there, they stopped taking cash over the bar and card payments only, where as us older people prefer to pay in cash, or have that choice, apart from that I would probably go back again.

It is a lovely big hotel which has a bar full of good alcohol and live music that plays even in the week when me and my boyfriend stayed. This is amazing for how much you pay! Very clean as well may I add. For the price you pay I can’t stress enough how much you get its very good value. We had a lovley guy as we came in who looked like he did maintenance he spotted us approach us very friendly and lovley and went to look for the receptionist. He was absolutely lovley and went out of his way to help us he needs to be credited what an asset to the hotel he is! The friendliness makes it and for the prices is more than you can expect. Basic room that’s very clean, tidy and has towels tea coffee and fans and ironing boards etc it’s amazing. We will be back. What a lovley area as well. Safe neighbourhood with a bus route ready to take you straight to Torquay can’t credit enough. Thank you!
I have no faults about the property.
