the staff were exceptional. I've stayed in may higher graded hotels previously but the staff at The Eton Mess blew me away - they cared about absolutely everything. They are my lasting positive memory. - well done to all of them.

No twin room - we asked uncheck in if one of the rooms was a twin and were told yes BUT it wasn't. it was ok though for us - we just asked for an additional duvet which they provided immediately (been in this position before at previous hotels and it can take lots of chasing for an additional duvet but at The Eton Mess they addressed it immediately.

Lovely welcome and complimentary drinks on arrival a lovely gesture

All lovely and would stay again. The only miss communication was we were told that breakfast was until 10am on the Monday morning and we could work on our laptop for business downstairs before leaving. We came down for breakfast at 935am, no one was around and all the lights were off. We phoned the hotel but no answer. Eventually someone arrived and explained it's only breakfast till 10am on weekends. We found a cafe next door with WiFi and had breakfast there. Other than that it's a lovely hotel

The location was perfect for us, near the station and the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the shops.

There was a mix up about the time we were arriving, and when we arrived there was no-one to let us in and leave our luggage. We had to leave it at a small shop a few doors away. I had left an email, phone message and text. Then we had to leave the Horse Show before the end to get to the shop to collect it before they closed. BUT ONCE WE GOT IN, EVERYOEN WAS WARM, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.

The room was decorated well, with nice lighting and there was a warm fire, which made the room cosy. The artworks with musical references were quirky too. It was a nice addition to have a sizeable balcony. We stayed for one night and the room was extremely quiet and we had a very good night’s rest. It was good to have a SMART TV in the room too. Breakfast was limited but tasty! Excellent location.

The finishing touches could be improved. There were some hairs behind the bathroom door and on the edges of the bath. The bathroom heater wasn’t working although we did notice this late in the evening so we did not mention it to management, perhaps they would have sorted this if we had informed them. It would have been handy to have a soap dish and some small shampoo bottles. The pillow cases did not cover the pillows fully so I feel this is quite unhygienic. There was a Nespresso machine but no pods. Also, we ordered a vegan breakfast and there was butter served on top of the toast. I know this was accidental but it’s something to be mindful of.

The room (room 5) was great, with an electric fireplace, roof terrace, and comfortable bed. The hotel's location is really good, across the river just a hop and a skip away from the castle. The hotel itself has a great bar/restaurant area, with good food and drinks, and the staff was amazing. They even let us check-in early and check-in late, as the room wasn't booked otherwise the day we left, and it really felt like they cared for all their guests. A definite recommendation.

Nothing really.

Location was great (easy walking distance to Windsor Castle and Riverside train station). Quiet. Small size (only 4-5 rooms). Excellent restaurant. Attractive modish decor. Very attentive and helpful manager (Jon Hylton).

Bathroom was small-ish, shower tended to spray onto the floor; towels were a little rough; not a lot of drawer or closet space. No air conditioning in room so had to sleep with windows open: you could clearly hear passers by talking, cars passing. (Room was on 2nd floor, facing the street.)

Location, bar staff, cleanliness. Great gesture of a free drink on arrival.

Breakfast. The quality & appearance of the food was excellent. The ambiance was dull ,could have done with some music. The guy taking the order didn't listen properly & still got it wrong even after I went to tell him he was relaying it wrongly to the chef ( which we could hear.)

The decor gives the property a classy look. From the colour scheme to the artwork on the walls. The bedroom we had (room 5) was a nice size with the addition of a balcony. The bed was comfortable and again the decor was great. The manager (John) was very friendly and greeted us with the offer of a complimentary drink each which was a lovely touch. We ate in there in the evening and the food and service was excellent. We had many of their signature cocktails which were also delicious with a couple of them being quite quirky. The full English breakfast in the morning was all delicious. Location is excellent. Just a short walk across the bridge and you are at Windsor Castle (about 5 minutes).

Nothing.

We were very well looked after, the staff were friendly and helpful. The complimentary glass of fizz on arrival was a lovely touch. The breakfast was perfect, we opted for the full English which was excellent quality. We had an amazing dinner and cocktails in the restaurant, the serving staff were knowledgeable and made good recommendations. We also had a welcome visitor to our balcony overnight - a magpie decided to roost on one of the chairs!

There was a DJ in the restaurant (Friday night) The music was fine whilst we were eating but we could still hear the beat for a long time in our bedroom till late. We were able to drown it out with the TV though so it wasn't too much of a bother and we slept well.

Chose here due to the fab location as only 5mins walk from Castle & on lovely street with plenty of restaurants/ pubs. We got a free welcome drink on arrival which was lovely. We had a few little issues with our room but it was sorted out very quickly from the Manager John & his lovely staff. Overall a nice stay thank you.

Our room at the front of Hotel & was noisy from the street as single glazed Windows.
