Everything was perfect. I liked the big room cozy and huge, well equipped ( a Nespresso coffee machine, good coffee and even excellent cookies were ready for us). It was very clean! The staff is super, breakfast and dinner were delicious. The right atmosphere to relax and live a few days as a queen

It was a lovely place, with a great location. The room I stayed in was gorgeous with bay windows and a large TV. a beautiful place to stay, and the staff were very friendly.

My only two complaints are that breakfast was £16 per person, when information online seemed to suggest it was around £9. It was a good breakfast as they allowed us to eat even after breakfast had ended (we weren't aware that breakfast ended earlier on weekdays) but the price was definitely a shock. I told them I would have a guest staying when asked and they said it was no problem, but I was charged an extra person fee at checkout which I didn't expect. I would have absolutely no issue paying this fee, if they had informed me about it before, or perhaps made other arrangements for my guest. It was just a shame that I wasn't given that option beforehand to make that decision with full knowledge of the cost.

Mattress and Pillows needed to be replaced. They are worn out. Bathroom very cold - radiator did not seem able to warm it up. Made the option of a long soak in the bath impossible. Attention to detail needed with cleaning regime. Confetti in ceiling light fitting Cobwebs above cooking ventalator Light fitting on stairs (metal hanging globes) dusty The ceiling light was very bright, but the side table lamps were quite inadequate for reading. Maybe needs another lamp which is between the overly bright and dim?

We got a complimentary upgrade to an apartment. Breakfast was great. The covered seating and smoking area is very well done. It was a very pleasant experience over all, we will definitely save this location for future visits.

The back door / night access door lock tended to stick, which made it hard to open with the key sometimes and very hard to get in during the day when it wasn't supposed to be locked. The make-up desk / mirror area is useless, because the single spotlight is too high up. The space needs a different table light, to be used as a make-up space (which is what it looked like).

We stay at Hedley House regularly. Usually, though booking a standard double we get something a bit bigger than we had this time, it was the smallest room we've stayed in at this hotel. However just as nice and with everything you need. Ensuite facilities were clean and well maintained. Tea/coffee making facilities, TV, Hairdryer and good lighting. Staff are friendly and there's never too much noise. It's within easy walking distance to explore the city. Although our room was at the front of the hotel and opposite the train track, there was almost no noise and the trains were not disruptive, don't think I heard anything past 11pm

I'm being picky, but there was very little room to walk around the bed and the kettle leaked a bit!

Welcoming, stylish decor in the public areas, with comfy seating.Friendly staff, great breakfast with plenty of choice. Spacious, clean, modern bathroom. Easy walk to the centre. Car parking is available at extra cost (cheaper than public carparks).

Our superior room was nice and spacious, but there were a couple of niggles, the curtain lining had tears in them and the dressing table chair was stained. A couple of easy fixes would be to dust off the picture rails and clear the rubbish (empty plastic water bottle) from the ledge guttering at the window.

Location was just over 5 minute walk from train station and about 10 - 15 minute walk to town centre. Nice quiet area. Fabulous location! Hotel very clean, staff friendly and helpful, jacuzzi was an added bonus and was absolutely brilliant! Room was ideal, clean, modern and exactly what we required for our two night stay. I would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again when visiting York.

If the bar downstairs stayed open a little later (think it closed about 10pm) we would’ve stayed there longer for some drinks rather than heading into town. This is just a personal criticism but this didn’t take anything away from the quality of our overall stay!

Firstly the location was perfect. Just a short walk (10 mins) from the station and the town centre which was perfect for us. The room was ready early so we were able to check in and leave our bags and explore the city for the day. Super impressed with a spacious triple room with three proper beds. The access to the wonderful hot tub was a fantastic feature which was a wonderful way to end the day and soothe our feet! The service was so friendly and super helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Our bathroom needed a hand towel rail and possibly bath treads/grips or even a handle as we all felt a little apprehensive getting out of the bath.

Great location with lots of character spacious and homely with everything you need

Our bathroom needed upgrading with a wall in shower , making it a luxury bathroom would make it perfect With the bath being under the window and the shower over the bath made the blind mouldy and some of the grout mouldy to . The basin was very small also more like a utility/ downstairs loo and coul do with bit bigger shelf to put toiletry’s . Better extractor fan also as after shower eveything in the bathroom was wet through with condensation .

Instructions to find the property were clear and concise. The staff were extremely helpful upon our arrival, and explained all the Hotel facilities in some detail. The room we were allocated was very large, overlooking the street, and the bathroom equally large, which was ideal for someone with arthritic knees...!! The breakfast was exceptional. and just right for an early start to the day.

We had dinner one one evening during our stay and the dining room was very quiet, with little atmosphere. However, we were staying off-season, so that is probably the reason. The Indonesian Green Curry was excellent however..!!
