A lovely guest house with a really excellent breakfast which includes a choice of homemade local recipe breads which are delicious. The whitish one which is made with olive oil and honey, sorry I can't remember it's name, was absolutely marvellous and pretty filling.

The parking wasn't all that near as the closest three were busy and that left me a bit concerned about our car but it was fine as it is a nice area. The shower has to be used with caution as it was too easy to accidentally knock the temperature adjustment lever and almost scold yourself. On our last day we had to leave early as we had to get back not too late and we had an 8 hour drive so we asked for a cold breakfast that we could take with us and this proved to be a bit meagre, a yoghurt, 2 apples 2 small oranges and 2 small packs of biscuits, - could have been a lot better with a sandwich included.

Everything. Everything is planned until small details. One of my top 5 stays in England. Room had extensive cord, so you have plenty of sockets! Very cozy. Brekfast included and it was very good breakfast, cold and hot. Dining area was bit small but very cozy. Staff super friendly. 5-10min walk to the York Minster. Included on street parking. Heating was very good, very soft carpets, very clean.

The only thing if you are staying for longer- hot water doesn't stay for long in the shower. It was more like warm water and hot only for like 5s. But for couples of nights- everything was perfect. As well, in the dining area, it would look more professional, if girls, who served food, maybe wore some aprons, so you know that they are staff.

The room and Guest House was fabulous! Location was just a 10minute walk away from York Minister Church as we prefer a location away from the noise and hustle of the City when we are away from home. We enjoyed the view from the room we had- so many trees and birds! Breakfast just missed out on full marks as I am an expert on cooking Bacon, and mine was too dry! Not sure if it was grilled or not, or it could be the source? I buy mine from Waitrose or the CoOp and look for a 'marbled texture'and not just any old pack- as I said I am a Bacon cooking expert!

Spotlessly clean, fabulous breakfast and good location. The homemade bread was delicious and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Short walk to the minster and the shops. Free parking right outside the door is a real bonus.

Very poor shower in The Ebor Suite. The bathroom itself is lovely, large and very modern, but is badly in need of a different shower. Water pressure was extremely poor and you couldn't get the shower head at a proper angle. This was the only negative about this property.

This guest house is in the perfect location, we’ve stayed in numerous guesthouses and hotels in york and this has to be the best for all amenities, you just turn a corner and ur there. Parking was on the street but the space is given whilst you stay. Breakfast was exceptional with plenty to choose from whilst you wait for your cooked breakfast to be served. The room was clean and well maintained, ( cake was a lovely touch to be welcomed to 😋). The hosts where lovely, nothing was ever a problem and was very person centred. We Would definitely stay here again in the future. 😊

Creaking floorboards but can be expected

Only five minutes walk from the minster with parking and an excellent cooked breakfast included. Breakfast choices included full English, eggs benedict and smoked salmon with scrambled egg as well as a good choice of cereal, fruit, yogurts and toasts with a good variety of spreads and preserves including the best marmalade I have ever tasted. The rooms were well decorated and included a spotlessly clean en-suite shower room, a hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. On arrival we were left a very tasty gift of some homemade cake which was a lovely touch. The mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and we both slept soundly. The best asset this establishment has however are the staff. They were warm, friendly and welcoming and could not have done more to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We visit York every year and this is the first time we have stayed at the St. Raphael guest house Without doubt it will be the only place we stay in the future.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and a great selection of cereals, breads, yoghurt and fruit, the girls who served the breakfast were very friendly and polite.

Would have been nice to meet the hosts but didn’t see them in the time we were there. Our room was quiet small would definately ask for a bigger one next time but there was everything in the room that we needed and we would definately stay there again, it’s in a great location for walking into the centre of York and it’s a fabulous town to visit.

The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, lovely shower, and breakfast was amazing .. beautiful fresh bread and hats off to the egg poacher, they were perfect 😊 Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Good location

Room was quite basic and possibly needs updating but it was a family room and we were visiting as a couple so perhaps that made it a bit disappointing .. we would still love to return though

We stayed in the suite, and it was perfect for what we wanted: spotlessly clean, with a comfy living room to relax in and very spacious and well appointed bathroom. Fran and Jamie were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fantastic! Great location too.

Basically nothing! If I were to be really picky, the sound insulation between the suite's living room and the guest house office was not great, but this just meant some low level conversation was audible as were getting ready in the morning. It didn't disturb us at all.
