Great location- 10 minute walk from the rail station, 10 minute walk to the Minister, opposite one of the entrances to the gardens. Staff very friendly and helpful.

A bit on the pricey side for a room only, as breakfast was not included but probably to be expected as so close to the city.

Great staff, lovely rooms. I really enjoyed the walk into town in daylight. Lovely quiet area. 10 mins walk from station. I felt very safe in the property as a solo female traveller

I thought it was odd that no complimentary water was provided though lots of paid mini bar options. There is a Sainsbury’s nearby. Some of the pillows were a bit lumpy and a better mattress topper would have been appreciated but I still slept well. Walking to and from town centre in the dark was not well lit with shorter routes along the river so I opted for an uber back after meeting friends for dinner.

The warm welcome on arrival and departure, and very helpful. The room was comfortable in lovely setting with a spacious modern bathroom.

Our room was downstairs, it was a fairly quiet area. And the view from the window was lovely. As we were facing the gardens. Which is another positive, because we could walk through the gardens unless it was past 6pm. But then we would walk along the river Ouse, which is only like 3 minutes down the road. The room we stayed in was beautiful. We had everything we needed. And if we ever needed anything, the staff were very helpful and would do what it takes to help. You could have housekeeping each morning of you wanted , we chose not to. We could have also had breakfast each or any morning but we chose not to, because there were so many places we wanted to go in the city centre for food. And shopping of course. Reception printed off some recommendations of where to go for food, or drinks. It gave a list of restaurants, cafés and bars. Which was very nice of them. On the last day we had to leave our room by 11am. So we did. But our train wasn’t until 2pm. And the lady at reception offered to keep our bags until we needed to collect them, the train station was only at least a 10 minute walk. Depending on how fast you walk. On that note. Before our stay at Jorvik house, they gave me a call and told me about a shortcut we can walk through from the station to the hotel. Which again, was very helpful.

As much as it was really cool having a smart Tv (it had Disney+ and Netflix) the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect to the Tv. So we couldn’t actually access any apps. And we couldn’t access certain channels or any radio stations at all. The bed was comfortable, don’t get me wrong, but the mattress wasn’t the best. It was a little too solid. Now, the mini bar says it’s included in the property… it didn’t mention however , that you have to pay for things individually. They leave a clipboard in there of the prices and what they are. They did have some good stuff in there I’ll give them that.

Excellent location on a quiet street adjacent to the museum gardens. Very good room size with free standing bath and very good shower. Very good tea/ coffee facilities with biscuits and sweeties available in the room and at reception. Good standard of decor and other in room facilities.

Throughout our stay the Wi-Fi was very poor. Staff tried to help by providing access to the separate hotel admin Wi-Fi but that was also very intermittent. We were advised that the situation was unusual… The main issue that we had though was the slamming of doors to other rooms. Easy adjustment to door closers would prevent this. It’s an old building but a little disconcerting that some walls had damp penetration. For the price we paid we feel that breakfast should be included.

This place is in an excellent location on a quiet street with a car park nearby and walking distance to the train station. You can cut through the museum grounds to town when the gates are open, otherwise its' a small diversion. There is a good pub at the end of the steet. Bonus. We were a group of 11 and we left our bags before and after check in which was very welcome. Beds were comfy and no noise outside during our stay, fridge and kettle in the room. Fan and hot water bottle too! All our group enjoyed the stay, thanks. Room 12 at the front was nice.

The only small negative I found,which was my fault, is that I did not realise there is no breakfast room although certain foods can be delivered to your room. We ate out as there are many decent places, The Star Inn was great.

I loved staying here. The location is perfect and close to everything you'd want to see, plus it's an easy walk from the train station. It was very comfortable and I like the aesthetics a lot. Plus the woman who works in reception during the weekdays is an absolute delight. She told me everything I needed to know and showed me to my room and was very helpful.

I wish they had a locking room to keep luggage in after you check out. They'll let you stash things there, but it's just out in the lobby with a wide open door, so I was concerned something might go missing. It was fine, but I'd have more peace of mind if it was more secure.

Lovely welcome from Kelsey, given all the information we needed. Our room was lovely, it was large and airy had everything we needed, there was a fully stocked fridge on a pay as you use basis. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite had a large walk in shower and lots of toiletries. The reception was staffed 24 hours so always someone there if you needed anything. All the staff were lovely and happy to help unfortunately we didn't get everyone's name to mention them individually but a bit thank you from us both you were all great. As you can probably tell we would recommend Jorvik House.

Nothing everything was good

Five minutes walk from York Minster and just ten from the Shambles meant it was a perfect location. Comfortable room but needed a bit of TLC. It was clean, comfortable and well heated so great value for money.

Couple of issues with repairs around the window and roll top bath which made what would have been a great experience just okay. Minor scuffs and stains which could have easily been rectified and improved the room a great deal. It was a wet and windy stay so we spent a fair deal of time in the room. It was a really pleasant place with great amenities but the devil is in the detail. Would still recommend highly at this price point and location and will certainly visit again.

We appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the beautiful decor, and the exceptional comfort of our room (number 2) the lighting was brilliant and dimming option . The pre-set heating was a welcome feature given the cold outside temperature. The well-stocked minibar, with clearly displayed prices, was a thoughtful touch. (Although we didnt partake). The shower and bed were outstanding; I slept remarkably well (I typically suffer from insomnia), a testament to the room's comfort. The spacious, clean wardrobe, readily available hairdryer, and the included fan (ideal for warmer weather) were all appreciated. We look forward to returning. The church just over the road was beautiful, and the gardens also across the road , which you could walk through to get to the city.

There was nothing to dislike; it's a wonderful guesthouse.
