Lovely room above a charming pub. Great location. The staff were kind, friendly and extremely helpful.

Great sized shower with hot water but very low water pressure. Fantastic room but quite thin walls as could hear other rooms conversations/snoring at night.

Brilliant location, 15 mins walk from the Shambles, plenty of food and drink nearby. Perfect for a shopping trip to York. Also parking which was a great bonus. Room was clean and modern, and was impressed with the bathroom. Really friendly staff, stopped in the bar for a few drinks in the evening and was a lovely atmosphere.

I have no complaints for the price. Unfortunately we stayed on the hottest day so far this year and there is no air con, which was a little bit annoying, but lets face it, how often do you need aircon in this country? Is above a pub so some noise from outside, but didn't go on very late and didn't bother us at all.

Check-in was smooth and easy. Car park, even though I'd looked at the property on Google maps, it still caught me off-guard in my approach that Google took me to the street to the left of the property when the car park is to the right of it. I was able to leave my car parked in the car park after checking out (just before 8am), while I explored the city (was completely gone by 11:15am-ish). Great location - to do a loop of; walk from pub to Shambles, the Minster, the city walls, and back would take 45ish mins! It's also pretty flat too - after having walked around some of the hillier towns and cities in the past week, it was a refreshing change! Had a window planter full of beautiful and colourful flowers. I brought my earbud headphones as well as Loop earplugs, because (unsurprisingly, being above a pub) it was a bit loud in the evening. Preparation and understanding of where you've booked is necessary! I was still able to sleep early, during the noise, and woke up long after it had finished! A small recommendation; to have a waste paper basket/generic small bin in the main room - not just a small pedal bathroom bin.

Mattress was rather uncomfortable and loud - am a fidgeter in my sleep and the sounds from the bed when I was moving would wake me up.

Perfect location. Staff member that greeted us on arrival was friendly and showed us to the room rather than just give us the key. Room was very clean and newly refurbished. The bed was comfortable and the towels supplied were of a good size. Complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. At breakfast we met the manager of the hotel, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very well priced and was plentiful. We would have no problems choosing to stay here again, our only minor criticism was the room was far too warm ( the boiler cupboard was in there) and the shower was a bit low on water pressure but I wouldn't give a bad review because of this. Everything else was spot on.

Nothing. It was all very good

We arrived earlier the room wasn't ready but we could park up and went into the city. Ideal location just a short walk to the centre. The owner and staff were very welcoming, and helped us with our luggage it was explained that they had recently taken over the hotel and updating the rooms was ongoing. The room was comfortable and clean. Cooked Breakfast was really tasty and reasonably priced. The bathroom needs an update but we were happy enough. I would stay again, thank you for a lovely stay and making us feel welcome.

hotel is in a very good location only a 15 minute walk with a bus stop right outside. The property is recently under new management and the lady who owns it is so lovely and would do anything she could to help.

Due to the property having a change of hands really recently there was a few things that weren’t the best. there was no telly in the room, or should i say there was a telly but no where to plug it in. the blinds aren’t blackout do means an early rise.

The bed was really comfortable. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

The breakfast time was short 8..930 ... 8 till 10 would be better . Also early check out not ideal 11 would be better . As we found as soon as you've eaten you had to get out. Menu which you can view at breakfast as we were unsure what we could have... it was inconsistent what we were offered each day. But over all the cooked food was excellent.

The Breakfast was absolutely Exceptional. The Bedroom was lovely, everything was there what you needed, the Bed was very comfortable just like floating on air. The Landlady, and the staff went above and beyond to make you welcome, couldn't do enough for you. The chef was Brilliant, really fresh good home cooked food, Cooked to perfection, and plenty of it, and he even took our cases up to our room's for us. Brilliant Holiday.

There was Nothing that I didn't like, everything was Perfect.

The warm welcome of the staff was lovely as it made us feel right at home! Great breakfast provided. Considering the business has recently been taken over, you can see the potential and the passion to make it a lovely place to stay.

The rooms are in the middle of being redecorated and so some areas were unfinished, however we were made aware of this and it didn't ruin our experience at the hotel.

Justine and Gary made us so welcome and couldn't do enough for us. They have only recently taken over here and are anxious to make this a great place to stay. Very comfortable bed...lovely bedroom and en suite bathroom with white towels and toiletries. Everything very clean. Delicious breakfast..enough to keep you going all day. Most convenient for The Barbican and only a 10/15 min walk to the city centre. We would stay here again.

There was nothing that we didn't like.
