The deco and mood of the hotel is wonderful. Quirky and old worldly with a modern touch. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were very pleasant

I was advised car park was full even though I arrived early after being advised that was not reservable and allocated on a first come first service. The adjacent public car park was full. There were some empty spaces in the hotel car park but I was told they had been allocated to guests who may have gone out for the day. I am a disabled driver blue badge holder but there were no spaces held for disabled drivers. I would have been happy to pay for a valet car park but tis service was not available.

Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Parking which cost extra was only a short walk from the hotel, but due to the location we were able to walk everywhere. The choice and quality of the food at breakfast was very good. It was our first time staying in a hotel Indigo and we both liked how the hotel it looked.

Our room was at the rear of the building and we were both awoken at six thirty each morning buy delivery lorries and bin lorries taking away glass bottles. All of which had reversing horns on. In order to get a decent sleep I’d check were in the hotel your room is.

Accommodation was excellent…spacious bedroom and bathroom. Beds were extremely comfortable and there were lots of nice little touches in the room such as slippers, handwash, shower gel, shampoo. Every member of staff we met was friendly and extremely helpful…nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast, both continental and cooked was excellent…lots of variety. Location was excellent too…short walk took you into the centre of York but there were lots of independent restaurants, cocktail bars etc within a short walk. York is an expensive place to stay and as I hadn’t used a Hotel Indigo before I didn’t know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised on all fronts and delighted that the hotel greatly exceeded my expectations.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike.

In the room there was a brown liquid splash of something on the wall by the mirror.The booking site doesn't say the parking is up a road round the corner from hotel and costs 16.00 per night.Breakfast is extra 10.00 for continental and 20.00 for cooked/continental.plus they take 50.00 pounds off your card 'in case ' you have any extras ! Which to be fair is reimbursed when you check out but doesn't say any of that on Booking .com,just says room is139.00 which sounds great then everything else is extra.

Loved everything about this hotel. The staff are present, friendly and very helpful. The young guy at the bar was fab. The room is so aesthetically pleasing, cosy and comfortable. The rain shower is amazing. The location...only a ten minute walk to York Minster. In fact, close to any attractions within the city walls. We had a great time in York. A beautiful city.

Parking wasn't a problem and the hotel does have a carpark for customers close by. Unfortunately, we arrived too late to benefit from this as the carpark was full by the time we arrived...mid-evening. Be careful with off street parking as the signs can be tricky to follow. Get into the hotel carpark is my advice, so try to arrive earlier in the afternoon!

Great location, the friendly warming welcome from the staff along with the aesthetics was a lovely start. Being a sensory person the smell when you walked in off the street was pleasant clean & fresh. Breakfast was great with a variety to suit all & the service was quick. Staff can make or break an experience but I feel this bunch had the correct balance.

I probably wouldn't opt for a ground floor room again, the sound proofing seemed great until first thing in the morning. Next to no traffic but the bin truck I presume was just unlucky for me, not a deal breaker as my husband slept through it.

It was hard to get food, outside of breakfast. I came in at 5pm and was told no menu or food till 6. So at 6 I tried to order via the in room qR code. This link doesn’t work. So rang down- no answer. I feel for a hotel of that price that you should be able to get in room food. I was told also that the food is basically just pizza which I also think is very poor and I would not have ordered that. In this case the hotel is really a b&b, but the price and hotel marketing doesn’t reflect this Staff are lovely but gave hopeless advice on local Attractions. Didn’t seem informed about them and hadn’t been to them even.

We really liked the city location, we were able to find all the places we wanted to visit easily from the hotel. Our room was lovely . Everywhere was clean and fresh and the bed very comfortable

The staff we met were pleasant enough but, we felt, not outwardly welcoming. We felt awkward sitting in the restaurant on our first night and no staff said hello or came to take our order. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time.in fact we felt so awkward we left after fifteen minutes and ate elsewhere . I hope this was just an unfortunate moment for us all , as the staff at breakfast next day were really nice and friendly.

The room was nice, a cut above. Decorated in a quirky, homely and comfortable fashion. A fridge in the room was a really useful addition. The room was of a decent size. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts were good with lots of selection, especially on the continental side. The shower was amazing and the bathroom was modern. The area was a little out of the centre, a bit of a walk, and although its in a student area, we had no problems with this. Great pizza place across the road, for an easy evening meal, after travelling. Lots of restaurants and bars to choose from, within 5 mins walk. It is a contemporary modern hotel and a step up from other chain hotels. We liked it.

We don't drive and arrived by train, getting from the train station was hard. We ended up walking and with our cases, it was quite a trek. The small touches in cleaning the bathroom could be better, a build up of dirt around the door frame wasn't great. No fan in the bathroom, meant it got very steamy. The restaurant got very busy for breakfast, with table turn around not very quick, so we wanted to sit in the window, but the table had not been cleared. Breakfast was a little hectic and the lady welcoming people seemed a little run off her feet, two or three people able to welcome would be better and make her life easier. Overall not much bad to say.
