The staff (particularly pool and restaurant) were lovely, and the whole setting is charming. Nice coffee for early morning, lots of water, towels, sunscreen by the pool. The TV channel choice is good.

The music around the pools (*everywhere*) that starts at 9 and goes on until at least 9pm ended up being a bit much. It's great to have a bit of a lounge feel around the pool - but you couldn't escape it, it was too loud, and you couldn't doze off by the pool. Our room was also around the pool and you could hear the music in the room... ALL the time. Noise levels are actually a problem in the hotel - the hallways are noisy, you hear every conversation from every cleaning staff or guest. It is just not as restful as it should be. Nothing in the mini-bar was replaced as we used it; And neither was the free water.

The staff first and foremost is a standout and what keeps bringing us back. The fact so much of the staff has been there for so long speaks to what works here. In addition, the facilities are plentiful even on a busy weekend and well maintained. We often come to just hang out at the pool most of the time we're there. The all-day dining menu is good enough to warrant sitting at the restaurant but also perfect for lounging at the pool. And the bar - the bar tenders, the craft cocktails, the patience at the number of times I forgot to close out my tab... drinking + sun, know what I mean? ;)

When we had to leave.

walking distance to downtown Palm Springs. clean and spacious rooms. they clean everyday and put things tidy and perfect.

they tried to charge us extra when we were checking out. we were told that it’s for the amenities charge. like it wasn’t included in the booking fee. they removed the charges when they found out we didn’t owe anything as it was included in the booking fee altogether. so make sure to check and ask questions when you stay or booked in this place.

The Avalon is a quintessential palm springs experience. It is not a very new property, probably built more than 60 years ago. The ownership group does a fair amount of reconditioning on the rooms now and then. The staff is excellent and the restaurant is consistently above average. There are newer hotels but if you go off season to palm springs the avalon offers fantastic price points for suites and bungalows that dont exist at a lot of other peoperties that are newer. I highly recommend that everyone stay at the avalon at least once to understand the soul of palm springs.

there was a hotel special running during our reservation which gave guests a free 3rd night. when we tried to get this applied to our reservation, the manager said we could not take advantage of this special because we had booked through booking.com. I have a hard time believing this.

Breakfast was great, we have many options and the servings were very generous. Juices were good.

I think the windows before we arrived were left open, there were bugs in the room. But overall, it was a pleasant stay. We loved it. The pool was great, the spa staff were really nice.

that the cupboards and drawers did not open properly. being old does not mean they have to be in disrepair. at these prices they could hire a professional carpenter to fix the cupboard and drawers.

Great location, just a block off of Palm Canyon, but far enough away that you don’t get the noise. The property is huge, and very well taken care of. Great, very friendly staff. And the fastest room service I’ve ever had!

The rooms could be better soundproofed. And maybe a Nespresso in the room?

Nice that there were three pools available, one specifically for families. Free coffee in the morning was really nice for us as parents of a young baby. Staff was accommodating and helpful with restaurant recommendations (all of which were fantastic) and help storing our rented bikes.

The Avalon is an exceptional property. Consistently great, it’s a 2 min walk to the strip, affords you three pools and lush grounds while maintaining a boutique hotel vibe. Main restaurant is cranking out yummy stuff including the now famous breakfast burrito and burger ( yum)! Rooms are clean, stylish and well maintained. The vibe is friendly throughout. Always my go to place.
