It’s location is in the centre of La Jolla’s prime shopping, restaurants and close to the Cove. The rooms are clean, very large and the beds are comfortable.

Just a small issue - housekeeping started cleaning our room before we officially checked out. We took our bags to our car and went to get a coffee down the street before returning to our room - only to find the linens and towels were already removed.

Nice room.

The keypad for access to the underground parking does not have a light. Could NOT see the keypad!!! Almost ran into gate as my car was not holding well while I tried to figure it out Daytime was fine. It was at night!!!

I was confused and very concerned when I got there because I paid in advance thru this booking company, and was sent an email receipt saying PAID IN FULL with a confirmation number but the hotel wanted to charge me again, they did not show I paid in full, they saw the reservation but did not care that I had a confirmation of having paid in full but I was there so I asked the manager on duty to please remember our conversation so if I got double charged, I could be refunded by either the hotel or booking company and he provided his business card to me.

I had zero complaints or concerns other than the concern I wrote above about.

The location of this Hotel is awesome! At the end of the block is a great restaurant for a gourmet breakfast. At the other end of the block is a Coffee Roaster with great drinks and some food. And downstairs is a terrific restaurant for dinner The Manhattan. The hotel is right down in the Village of La Jolla and is walkable to the La Jolla Cove Beach and all the stores etc. Parking is in an underground garage behind the hotel. They do charge for parking but it is convenient and secure with unlimited self parking in and out.

Would have been nice to have our room cleaned. The hotel was very clean and we stayed 3 nights over Thanksgiving. We checked in on Tuesday and Left Friday and the bed and room was not cleaned during our stay. Maybe because of the holiday in the middle but still....

Great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, quiet room on top floor

Letting me know, up front, that parking on street was fine, and where to park. They could consider having shuttle from hotel, and could charge $10. I had to pay $60 for taxi

The Empress Hotel is in an ideal location. Once you park your car, you can walk everywhere! The staff is friendly and accommodating and the rooms are attractive and comfortable.

Our room, Room 207, was over a part of the on-site restaurant's kitchen that was extremely noisy until around 10:20PM. We called the front desk who said that they couldn't do anything about it because the restaurant was a leased space and that the noise had been an issue in that room before. We felt that we should have been forewarned so that we could have made our own decision about accepting that room or it should have been discounted somewhat from the $400 a night fee.

Great location! The cottage is our favorite brunch place and Brick & Bell is a great local coffee shop nearby. Very short walk to the La Jolla cove. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. It’s a nice nautical vibe which suits La Jolla. We typically opt for an Airbnb since we travel with a toddler but decided last minute to take a trip and Empress fit our budget. We would definitely stay here again because of the customer service, comfort and cleanliness of the room and you can’t beat the location.

No complaints

The rooms are nice - unfortunately there was an issue with the safe in my first room, so I moved for the rest of the stay and I was given a better room - staff most helpful one this.

Interesting that "What did you like?" starts with "What did you think of the breakfast?" since that is what I especially liked about a previous stay in 2019! But I quite understand why a buffet has not been reintroduced yet, and the staff's recommendation of other outlets was fine - and I especially enjoyed going to The Cottage. I didn't eat in your restaurant in 2019 but tried it my first night this time and, while the menu looks promising, the quality is not really up to the price - for example, while I did not have the Cioppino and might have come back another night in theory, in fact I had an excellent one over the road at Piazza for just $29.

Great location. Close to shopping , restaurants, La Jolla Cove. Quiet street, not congested. Would return and recommend to others if all you want is a clean room.

Although the room was very clean at check in, it is dated. Needs paint, newer furniture. Bathroom sink cabinet all scratched. We were not told at check in that if you want a clean room daily, you have to call housekeeping.

Location, pets allowed

Had to pay for self park. Pet fee was charged by the day. $30 first 3 days, $10 thereafter. Stay was 4 nights so fee was higher than I usually pay, which is usually a flat fee. Smells from restaurant came up to 2nd floor room. View from room was of next building- not so nice
